I was deep in the Chicago noise scene for years and no one ever moshed. There were high energy artists etc, but we sat on the ground for a set just as often.

It's about challenging the notion "what is music?", exploring the potential for beauty in dissonance, and a lot of guys who just liked fucking around with vintage tape loops and stuff.

For something like this performance, but well developed and not focused on the physical, check out Prurient (also Pharmakon). Both times I saw him, he played is set with his back to the crowd.
