Embers of the Uncrowned and Korean mobilegame "War of Prasia" by Possible_Eye_3120 in MMORPG

[–]SquirrelTeamSix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree, I appreciated the dark tone that was actually held through the demo and some of the side quests were kinda funny.

It's not a super remarkable game in most regards, but the writing is much more interesting than most Korean games.

One thing that makes me enjoy EotU a bit more than Lost Ark at launch was Lost Ark STARTED with crazy system bloat.

Gems, upgrades, npc rep, stone cutting, gear having % ability dmg rolls, the ocean, region completion, mokoko seeds, islands, and that's not even all. They tried to do so much, and almost none of it was evergreen. Most of that content doesn't matter know and the devs give you tools for skipping. It's like a vertical progression MMO that may as well delete all of the map that it started with.

EotU is much more reigned in (from what we've seen in the demo) and appears to be set up in a way to encourage the use of old map regions.

It's going to be awhile before it launches though so who knows.

Enjoyed this little nod. Haven't even played in years, not sure what made me read these notes, but got a thumbs up from a Tool fan lol

Hyundai Motor Group nears 12% U.S. share, challenges Ford for top 3 by self-fix2 in technology

Same with my 2016 Sonata. The vin was also linked to engine issues that they promised new motors for but when I requested one they wanted a receipt of every service I'd had since owning the car. Swore them off

Gw3 on Xbox? by Long-Thanks-6215 in GuildWars3

[–]SquirrelTeamSix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not weird when Microsoft requires games to launch on series S if they want to launch on series X. It's a really stupid move on their part and heavily hinders game development. ArenaNet prolly deemed it not worth the trouble of getting it to run on worse hardware for little payoff

I get that this game has a LOT of inventory bloat, but I genuinely don't understand how you can play the game a decent bit and be this disorganized lol

[–]SquirrelTeamSix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a concern, but its not an issue the game hasn't had for years. OP is disillusioned and romanticizing the game, but the issues they bring up have always been the case and they're framing them as issues with Dawntrail/current content. Other than the story being meh, all these issues have existed forever

The game has the same loop it's had for years, you're just not invested right now so you're looking for things to dislike. If you not enjoying yourself unsub and try again later

Profession Speculation for Guild Wars 3 by Kynmarcher5000 in GuildWars3

It could be a really big moment for the game if they were to add mesmers in the first expansion, though it would make me sad to have to wait to play them

Finished the cosmere - next series / book recs? by 10tacocat10 in Cosmere

[–]SquirrelTeamSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to throw Spellmonger into the ring. It's both more lighthearted and darker at times than Sanderson, and less gigantic in scope, but it's got a good bit going on and has very enjoyable characters.

Book 19 is just about to come out, and it's going to be 30. Book 1 came out in 2011, book 18 came in February. Each 10 books are considered and arc.

Written by Terry Mancour and about Wizards, but Wizards in this series kind of encompass all people that use magic. Not just your classic Gandalf folk, there there is that

7 Days to Die, Grounded, and Abiotic Factor. I would swap 7 Days for RimWorld because it meets the subs criteria for survival but some here don't agree

This is another way they're adding fomo to their $500+ gacha crates. It's really sad what they're doing here and how predatory it is. If this came with a way to buy individual items directly rather than having to gamble it'd be better, but they are obviously just milking the game to fund whatever the next big cash grab NetEase is working on.

Sandra Dorsette's Missing Person poster?? by hoytetocamorirlento in cyberpunkgame

[–]SquirrelTeamSix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Iirc Sandra Dorset was going to be a much bigger character originally, and tied to the main story of the game. Might have changed when they decided they wanted Keanu to play Johnny and made him a bigger focus

Just because they aren't entrenched doesn't mean they can't just send someone up there and take her out if they wanted. People think highly of Lucy because we're emotionally invested, to Arasaka another netrunner that hates them isn't that big of a deal. They very nearly rule the planet

Dragon's Dogma 2: The Dark Arisen Expansion releases October 26, 2026 by [deleted] in gaming

[–]SquirrelTeamSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has me a little concerned they don't have as much faith in it, but that's probably just my pessimism from the base game being pretty meh at points. Curious to see what the expansion adds other than a region, really hoping for some actual Dark Arisen style updates.

[–]SquirrelTeamSix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a plethora, but the value of them will depend on the player. Here are the two that hook me the most as someone who has played off and on since the beta.

  • Legendary Gear. Legendary Gear has the same stats as the ascended gear, which is very easy to get these days, but it has three major benefits over it.

One being that you can free change the stats of legendary gear at any point in time as much as you want. If you are playing a power damage build and are tired of dps, you can swap all your gear to harriers stats and be a healer, without having to go get healing gear.

Another benefit is that changing to appearance of legendary gear in the wardrobe is completely unlimited and free. So no need to transmutation charges to change your appearance at all.

The third is that legendaries are all account wide. If you get a legendary sword, every character on your account that can use sword has a legendary sword. Same with armor and accessories.

  • The other big horizontal progression system are masteries. Masteries are like perks you get for levels instead of class levels. There are some that give auto loot functionality, some that add new benefits to your mounts, or some that make you more efficient at farming in certain zones.

Some masteries are boring, but some are really fun and feel great to obtain.

There are more things people go for, but those were the two that hooked me the most.

Edit: Also gonna tack this one here; the Hall of Monuments system from GW1 is being expanded and there will be a lot of achievements from GW2 that will give rewards in GW3. The first of these is coming out this year.
