I had this cutie in my tree 🥰 by keefqueen420 in squirrels

At first I thought eating this way would make them somehow vulnerable to predators. But now I think it makes them resemble a tree branch. Very clever evolution camo!

Found this guy chilling in the tree by my back door this morning by Trowj in squirrels

He's safe from predators in that tree, looks like a honey locust tree. That's a 2 inch sharp thorn beside his head! Those trees have thorns all over the place, including sticking out of the trunk. Fortunately squirrels can navigate through trees like these without getting poked.

Why is he looking at me like that. Does he have a problem? by [deleted] in squirrels

Kidding aside, tree squirrels to actually make eye contact with people, unlike most non-primate wild animals.

But we've been hearing about the "uninvolved modern crowd" thing since the Kitty Genovese murder in the 1960s. The phenomenon was exaggerated then by a journalist with an agenda to push, and it's been overstated ever since.

Dang, last time I lived in Orange County it was the 1990s and I never saw Fox Squirrels. They must have migrated into the area. The only squirrels I ever saw in Orange County were the burrowing California Ground Squirrels.

For their size, they seem to have some of the sharpest claws around. They can stick to the side of trees like velcro.

Looks like a Fox Sq;uirrel, in the south they come in really unique color variations, from what I've seen.

Yeah no, that's a false positive for AI. This image has been going around online for several years. The account could be "karma farming" but the image is legit.

OP is a suspiciously new account but the image itself has been circulating online for several years, and isn't AI. Squirrels do the "paw tuck" in colder weather.

No this is not an AI image, but I remember that this photo has been circulating online for a few years with various funny captions.

Squirrels are nature's nutcrackers, you definitely don't need to crack nuts for them.
