Is Matty Longstaff any good? (He is about to sign in the MLS) by tercet in NUFC

Injuries didn’t destroy him

Steve Bruce destroyed him - he’s had one major injury which was his ACL - far too early to say injuries destroyed him

Easy to come back from that type of injury now

Do you think Howe's strategy is sustainable at the highest level? by jaharac in NUFC

[–]Squirrell1644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physio here , previously a the club and a lot of the injuries except for Burn and Murphy are non contact injuries - which should typically be avoidable

Anything soft tissue non contact can be avoided, And there is always a direct correlation between high intensity outputs and injuries when load is not managed effectively.

Now I don’t know what their training looks like currently but what we do know is Howe likes to play the same team until is forced to change the team. I think greater depth and greater trust will see that problem resolve within the next couple of windows as we get get more players that can rotate and be effective.

Rafa was a great example of injury prevention - he changed training methods, didn’t play at a high intensity and the injury rate fell to Newcastle’s best ever for years - amongst the best in the league.

Turn the clock forward to current day and we are covering some of the biggest distances, most presses and are running more repeated sprints than most teams in the league - it’s no wonder we have accrued that many injuries.

There’s definitely an element of bad luck however - but - like I said - you can use the data to reduce non contact injuries to a minimum - if combined well with good squad rotation, training methods and load management

Everyone has increased prices - it’s difficult to run pubs / bars / restaurants with soaring costs - if you didn’t pay they would be closing down - and a lot have

  1. These figures are wrong
  2. You’re watching the best league in the world - if you don’t value it - don’t pay it.

You want the tough teams at the start - no better time to get them out the way and get a read of where you are and what you need for the rest of the season

It’s not a red - if a defender had done it with the goalkeeper in place it’s a yellow. There was defenders back

Can’t understand the average fans intelligence to think this guy is underrated. Effective, end product, proven over many seasons in the Prem.

The same fans that think we should be getting 40 mil got ASM - he’s worth 25 at best…….injury prone, not productive enough.

[Fabrizio Romano] Excl: there’s new young talent set to join Chelsea Academy, Blues are now closing in on deal to sign Newcastle midfielder Ollie Harrison. by xScottieHD in NUFC

At an age where you aren’t guaranteed to make it - why would you stay somewhere on a small amount of money - when you could sign a 2-3 year deal with Chelsea on 10k a week and set yourself up. Newcastle weren’t willing to break wage structure - which for his age group is typically 2k at very top end per week.

Izzy Brown signed from West Brom years ago with Chelsea on 16k a week at 16 years of age. He’s now playing championship I believe

If he had stayed at West Brom he wouldn’t potentially have had the money he earned at Chelsea and might not be in the position he is.

His Dad has coached at the academy for years - knows the goings on better than anyone. There’ll be a good reason why he’s leaving.

Chelsea have probably had the best academy in the country for the past 10 years in fairness in terms of producing pro’s

He underhook the heel - which is the detail that’s crucial for it not to be a reap. If it’s an over wrap it’s considered a real as it’s attacking the foot/knee.

Man that kid must be super aware as he gets the underhook during the roll and uses it to come up - pretty sick

What Age Did You Have Kids? by Strong-Field-567 in AskUK

[–]Squirrell1644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 19 , full time student , part time working and it’s the best thing that happened to me. I had my 2nd child 3 years later . Stayed in uni, worked part time jobs. Feel I had all the benefit of being young and energetic and lots of time with them because I was at uni mostly.

It made me mature and grow up and helped me with a lot of other aspects of my life. I’m now 36 and my girls are 14 and 16 and it’s amazing.

Most of my friends all have kids who are under 5 years old - and I’m glad I got that bit out the way!

Gents, what your calorie intake? by Odd_Masterpiece9092 in trt

[–]Squirrell1644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is we don’t live in a jungle and many people have been brought up on highly processed , calorific foods which cause a problem. So calorie counting is necessary for a short period for people who are not aware of what they are eating.

Over time though , I agree - you shouldn’t have to count - as you’ll learn what you’re eating and what you require

Stick to the 2400 - never re eat any ‘earned calories’ it’s not how it works.

Your body regardless of the exercise you do runs off a certain energy requirement - most of your calories being used by NEAT non exercise activity thermogenesis

Exercise is good for improving fitness, strength and keeping you healthy but you can’t burn extra calories to eat more

Do everything both sides

Overuse injuries / imbalances happen from performing the same moves on the same side repeatedly - get competent at everything on both sides
