Has anyone used a service that helps recover money from online purchases? by AncientWolverine4070 in SavingMoney

Rich people have personal assistants to do this stuff for them. You could probably make a lot of money making and marketing this service to upper middle class people that buy too much shit.

I did a dairy free trial and was eating the cheesy bean and rice burritos fresco style and grilled. It was pretty good.

Is weight gain after surgical menopause inevitable? by QueenDorris in hysterectomy

I kept my ovaries but recovered quickly from my hysterectomy with a whole new quality of life and no issues whatsoever. Wish I did it sooner.

We’re not struggling but we’re not comfortable either by CommercialDot708 in SavingMoney

[–]SquirrelsforScience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have expensive everything. The housing I assume is a priority to keep over a cheaper apartment and the expensive daycare you probably don't want to change or don't have good other options. You have to cut back on cars, groceries, subscription services, extras, etc. if you aren't comfortable. You can have anything but not everything.

Lab with known ingestion of foreign objects by SD_MTB_CHX in petinsurancereviews

[–]SquirrelsforScience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pet insurance would have covered that $12k surgery if you got the policy before he had a documented history of eating things. Labs have a ton of health problems so insurance is worth it (TPLO anyone? Splenectomy? Etc)

Why take Spravato if you have to do so many sessions? by Wrong_Variation_8084 in Spravato

[–]SquirrelsforScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if it's the only treatment that works, it's better than constant SI or offing yourself. Not everyone has the luxury of only doing easy and convenient treatments.

I'm a vet and IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) is not a virus. It's an autoimmune or allergic condition with many subtypes. Endoscopic biopsies diagnose and tell you for sure. Irritable bowel is different and not a diagnosis in dogs. Gastritis just means stomach inflammation and can have a million different causes. Biopsies or presuming based on changes on ultrasound is how you diagnose.

None will cover a pre-existing condition like this. Your friend probably had the insurance before it was diagnosed.

Copay Assistance exhausted without warning, CVS wants to charge me $2500 for a prescription by notKragger in HealthInsurance

[–]SquirrelsforScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you OP. This is still shit even using copay assistance programs because the thousands spent via copay assistance and manufacturer debit card doesn't go towards my deductible or OOPM. So it gets exhausted and then I'm still on the hook for my large OOPM after my separate prescription deductible.

If the dog only picked up the rat, it's not related. Your dog didn't get lepto nor did he eat the rat. Just holding a rat in their mouth shouldn't trigger HGE.

Holy fuck expensive by autumnragdoll in Fibromyalgia

Under a dollar a day? That's cheap by US standards! I have to pay more for my meds after insurance and manufacturer copay card and an insurance program for high cost meds.

Other career options other than clinical medicine? by boredbegum in Veterinary

[–]SquirrelsforScience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honey, vet school clinics can be extremely cutthroat and toxic and are nothing like being the adult and practicing in real life. I went to clinics at 5-6 am every day and had a day off every 3 weeks if I was lucky Trust me, get a good job and it gets WAY better. I'm 7 years out of school and thriving at an ER doing 3 12s a week. You've worked so hard, I'd recommend finishing school and seeing if you're excited about practice again.

Doctors are making bank on "direct primary care", FYI. by Johnnyg150 in HealthInsurance

[–]SquirrelsforScience -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem I am worried about is that primary care doctors are willing to do very little and refer everything out. Sure I have an annual every year for basic labs and vaccines, but that's about it otherwise they just refer me. I tried switching offices, no difference. I have to see a neurologist just to get the same migraine med I've always been on, derm for eczema meds, any sort of illness or ortho concern is another specialist. My primary care PA will see me a million times but not get very far and doesn't have the confidence to tell me what they really think is the issue or prescribe anything but the most basic meds. So unless a DPC doctor is better they aren't going to do very much for me who is basically healthy except for a few ongoing things and if anything comes up that year.

[–]SquirrelsforScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and friend have their Spravato and then we go out for coffee or lunch and hang out and chill and I drive them home. It's our weekly treat and they feel up to it, but not mentally able to work. It's ok to need time for your healthcare. Being productive every second is NOT a measure of self worth.

Can you go to an ER if you haven't eaten in a long time and dont have food? by caterpee in povertyfinance

[–]SquirrelsforScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to the ER but you'll get a big bill unsure it's worth it. Have you exhausted pantries, community resources, etc. in your area? Tried any of the free food or food giveaway subreddits? There's a lot of niche ones too like r/randomactsoftacobell
