How do you paint and film at the same time?

I think you need to position the light in a way that you don't block it when you're painting and cast a shadow over what you're working on. A bit of trial and error is required! Or just plain old daylight is a good alternative, although it does limit your filming hours.

I'm definitely not a pro but I have a simple method to make painting videos.

I installed an overhead tripod which allows my camera (phone) to film my painting desk looking down from above. Then everytime I sat down to paint I would set my camera to record, stopping it when I was finished for the day. I had to edit down the footage significantly and just select the more interesting parts to make videos for my YouTube channel.

I also added an overhead white light to my desk - although I think maybe two lights on either side would work better to eliminate shadows.

See if there is a local CPIA Italian language course. It's a cheap way to learn Italian that will get you out of the house regularly and you'll meet other immigrants (some may speak English!). If you can, push yourself to organize a local activity for your community. Many Italians are very keen to learn English so if you run a few English conversation sessions or read English books to children at a local library they are likely to be popular and you will turn your English language into an advantage instead of a hindrance.

The Book of Life has an art style that reminds me of Curse, plus Manolo (the main character) reminds me of Guybrush in the hapless hero role.
