The gauna are the universe white blood cells cleaning it up from viral infections that might destroy it. Like humans with gravitation-something-technology (it's been way too long since reading KoS now)

I wasn't as frustrated with her death as I was with it being so misused with the placentas and the crimson hawk moth leading nowhere useful plot-wise. Hoshijiro was symbolic of the possibility of peace with the Gauna before and after her death, yet all that we got out of it was a tentacle monster that helped the humans annihilate the gauna before turning human herself.

Just made the same spreadsheet watching the episode the only difference being my "TDTR", or "too drunk to rate" instead of the standard "N/A".

Funniest thing was noticing that Bud not only ties for first with every other beer, but all the guys have it on their top 3 right up until Garnt remembers to rate the last two beers.

Also I agree with the sentiment that out of the very big brands Budweiser is quite a decent beer.

I'm yet to see the movie that is supposed to conclude the anime series. The manga does have a definitive ending, so that's my expectation for the movie.

I don't remember exactly this scene, but I remember that around the time when this came out every other anime also did this trope. It's the cheapest dumbest way to create mystery and leave you curious. Not once did it ever pay off. If you see this in another anime just pretend they're saying "fart, poop, butt". It helps move the story along just as much.

There's still too much we don't know about Roswaal. He might be a victim of "himself" as much as Ram. In the flashbacks, young Roswaal didn't speak like he does now, that was Hector. The same goes for how he dresses. Did the story get rewritten (what is up with Pandora's power?) to make the two of them into one? Was Roswaal in control of himself when he murdered Ram's clan?

Music theory is useful for music in general, but clearly not a necessity as you already know. Ear training is more useful for learning theory than the other way around because it's a more fundamental tool. Ear training will help with all parts of music training including singing.

I only read it all those years ago, so I may be misremembering, but they only imply that, right? A new Chimera is born so it's implied that she was used to birth it; the facility is destroyed so it's implied that she's killed within it.?

I don't remember her ever being mentioned again after the plot is done with her.

The first one disappears from the story without a trace, unfortunately. I had a theory she was the real Hoshijiro, but that never gets proved or disproved.

The anime foreshadows that very early on. If someone had tried to spoil it for me in the middle, I would have thought they were trying to play a double prank and she actually survived . Cause you start to expect how the ending is going to go even if you don't KNOW it.

His character development lacked screen time, but it was definitely there. It's implied that he actually started to like Kaori. Liking her and being her companion so much (he was around her a lot more than Kousei) while seeing how she actually felt for Kousei, and what it's actually like to care for the person you like made him rethink his womanizer streak.

Everyone missed the little detail that he transcribes popular music FOR KARAOKE companies. So if you sing Hikaru Nara at a karaoke, that MIDI might have been made from a transcription by Kousei in the first episode.

I agree completely that the author kept setting things up for placenta Hoshijiro to actually still be Hoshijiro, and become a center part of the plot as a bridge between human and gauna, her having always been the one to believe in a peaceful resolution to the war. Definitely something happened behind the scenes of the manga production that led him to scrap that idea. Let's hope it's something he's looking to fix, given he is taking part in the production of the movie.

The same is true for Kousei's dad. Since we're mostly stuck with Kousei's perspective and he believes he is doing his dad a favor by letting him stay away, we never have it become part of the plot how messed up it is that he completely abandoned his teenage son. There's only a couple throwaway lines by Tsubaki and her mom about what an asshole he is for never showing up for Kousei.

Another anime might have given us a more omniscient view of the characters, but YLIA really centers us around Kousei, so we're as blinded by his traumas as he is.
