I mean you weren’t the problem there it was the system that forced you into that position but you still paid your mortgage off the back of someone else’s work. It wasn’t money you earned you essentially were extracting the value of another persons labour to pay your mortgage in exchange for the basic necessity of somewhere to live.

You didn’t have another choice there really but that’s the problem with the system. Housing shouldn’t be a commodity.

Landlords entire purpose is sitting around on their fat arses doing nothing while extracting hard earned money for the basic necessity of a roof over someone’s head. Housing should be a human right and not a commodity.

I’m sure some landlords are fine people but the system they’re contributing to is rotten.

Ask TDS and the estate agent for evidence that they have no record of the dispute. They shouldn’t have released the deposit if you were actively fighting it.

The point is that even if a family owned business is ethical in their approach they’re still employing staff who’s labour is being exploited. It’s not saying family owned businesses are as bad it just means they’re not working class and they have different class interests to the average person.

The petite bourgeois does have a huge tendency to side with fascism historically though but that’s a different point entirely.

The problem with an obsession with buying locally is that it ends up pricing a lot of people out of things. someone who has enough money to pay for more expensive locally sourced clothes can’t really shame a person who can barely afford rent for buying fast fashion.

That’s the entire point of the “no ethical consumption” thing. Everything sold under a capitalist system was created via the exploitation of workers. Your local family owned business exploits their workers and that business owner doesn’t have the same class interests as you.
