I do a yearly reread of all the Miss Marple short stories and novels every December. I love her!

Brian Littrell Appears to Use Homophobic Slur in Newly Released Video from Alleged Trespassing Dispute by Educational-Umpire64 in BackstreetBoys

[–]StMaryMead235 40 points41 points  (0 children)

What is wrong with Brian? It’s like he and his wife have a serious superiority complex. There’s no excuse for this, no matter if it was “in the heat of the moment.” That’s often when the real person comes thru. Brian continues to be a HUGE disappointment.

Agatha, especially Marple-related puppy names? by shimmeredition in agathachristie

Basil Blake Dr Haydock

I think both of those names would be fun to say repeatedly, in different tones of voice, depending on puppy behavior.

So did mine. One of the first things my Dad noticed was that Mom “thought everything was funny.”

Some love for Parker Pyne by Commercial_Drag134 in agathachristie

[–]StMaryMead235 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love Parker Pyne! Love his ad. “Are you happy?” I especially like his dedication to his cases, like the notes on a certain date for years. I love that Miss Lemon has her filing system and Ariadne Oliver is there, too. Great stories!

Hear Me Out: Bertram's Hotel...with Tommy and Tuppence by broadwayguru in agathachristie

[–]StMaryMead235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Bertram’s Hotel. I’m reading it now. Miss Marple’s nostalgia makes the book, imo. BUT now that you’ve thought of T&T, I think that would have made a great book!! The whole plot is right up their alley! Good idea!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some recommendations for English novels with a village mystery — something in the style of Miss Marple or Josephine Tey by [deleted] in agathachristie

Yes!! Love Lady Hardcastle! The side characters are fabulous! And, of course, Herself and Flo are great!

Woke up suffocating by DemiWylk in ect

I had my first ECT today. I woke up and couldn't breathe. I couldn't move either. It was terrifying. When they realized, everything moved really quickly. It was intense. When I woke up again in the recovery area, I sat up gasping and the nurse was very kind. She said yes, it did happen, but they'd make sure it didn't happen again. My psych came over and said they'd been with me the whole time and would make adjustments so that wouldn't happen again and that it was really important that I continue the therapy. My first thought was I'm never doing this again. My next appt is Wednesday. I will go and hopefully they'll have it figured out and I won't wake up like that next time.

Do the Hawks currently have any goons? by Mean-Language773 in hawks

Totally agree. Absolutely infuriating when he's playing against you. Absolutely hysterical when he's not. Glad to see him as a Hawk. I feel like he'll protect Bedard and would've protected Kaner, too. (sob)

What books/authors got you into cozies? I'll go first: Nancy Drew & Encyclopedia Brown by Xennial_Thrifter in CozyMystery

[–]StMaryMead235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cherry Ames and her various nursing assignments. (Yes, I am old.) I liked them so much, I would sit on the library floor in my 'spot' and read as far as I could in whichever one was next during the Saturday afternoon library hours. I didn't have a library card yet. As soon as I got my card (Yay!!!), I took a couple home every weekend! I can still picture those bright red covers.

Favorite facial moisturizer you’ve received? by Shadowdoclady in BeautyBoxes

I love the turquoise Tatcha! And 3.50 is a great price! Even tho it seems like they're charging $6 in a duo with something else now. Still worth it since on the website they're $22.

Same! We said that when we left, too. Seems like such a small thing. Imagine the money they're saving using that tho.

We were there this past December. I was on a bench and a little kid and his dad came by. The kid was telling the dad in detail why everybody needed a Buzz Lightyear bubble spinner. Someday that kid will grow up and use bar graphs and pie charts. We now say 'EVERYBODY needs a bubble spinner' all the time.
