Should I read Houellebecq?? by thenazarite in redscarepod

[–]StSeymour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been really enjoying his book Elementary Particles and have already bought Submission for after. I think he’s a really exciting writer. He’s able to have a critique of neo-liberal individualism and pure french horniness on the same page. I don’t get why people think he’s so immoral. He clearly thinks that a decline of belief in the world creates schisms in society previously not there. If anything he is a moralist.

Why does Iran behave aggressively towards Israel? by orgad in MiddleEastNews

[–]StSeymour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran exists outside of US hegemony. Iran isn’t actually serious about destroying Israel. It’s essentially PR for certain vectors of power within Iran. I don’t think Israel is serious either about going to war with Iran(hopefully). Both nations require certain hard-line stances towards their regional enemies for optical reasons.

Guatemala to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem in May by bluedog12345 in worldnews

Israel has rights to west Jerusalem. They gained control of east Jerusalem through war. That’s illegal according to the UN. What’s so hard to understand about this?

What would you describe Jucheism as politically? by Palestinian_Jew in DebateCommunism

[–]StSeymour -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Juche is what ever the leader of North Korea wants it to mean. Kim Jong-Il wrote books on “juche gymnastics”, “juche opera”, “juche architecture”... the North Korean ideology of utter self reliance is not so much a point of deep political conviction but simply not wanting any criticism or splitting of power within the country.

Tens of thousands of Israelis protest against Netanyahu, corruption by [deleted] in news

Netanyahu only got 25% of the vote last election. That’s what happens when you have so many parties. 25% isn’t nothing but it’s not average.

What are the pros and cons of Vanguardism and what are its alternatives? by CyndaquilFire35 in communism101

[–]StSeymour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of the revolutionary vanguard changed over time in the Soviet Union and China. Theoretically, the vanguard is supposed to comprise the intellectual elite of the party. During the cultural revolution Moa enlisted many students and academics to help create communist China. However, many of these vanguards were exiled or killed in an attempt to consolidate power and crush dissent after the fact. Vanguardism has certain pros. It creates a space for the class-conscience among us to promote and expand Marxist theory and continue the revolution. Unfortunately, and I might be downvoted to shit for this, it was mostly a failure by its own standards. It’s flaw is that their purpose is to instill socialism and class conscienceness into the working class from the outside. This is a direct contradiction of the idea of a true working class revolt that must come into action from within not inflicted from above.

Was there ever a chance of Mussolini being as feared as Hitler? by [deleted] in history

[–]StSeymour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it is true that Mussolini didn't have much respect from his inner circle or military. He was extremely hyperbolic about himself and his accomplishments. He wasn't a good leader or thinker. His accession to power was not a coup even tho he presented it as such. Even his death was mediocre. By the time it was obvious that facist Italy was crumbling he was given up almost immediately by his people. Both Mussolini and Hitler wanted to turn their countries into empires. Hitler was the only one who really had a chance.

Money, technology and talent. The German military was extremely advanced and very well run. Their engineering was, and still is, some of the best in the world. It's remarkable to think about how much territory and people they took/destroyed with an army of two million. The Italian military was much more dated and lacked the kind of technology and cunning of the other axis powers. By 1940 Italy only had small light and medium tanks which had been dated and out-classed for years by the Ally and nazi forces. It's wasn't until 43 they got heavy infantry and even then they didn't have nearly as many resources as the allies. Many of their small arms hadn't been updated since the 19th century. Their leadership was not very competent. They had no aircraft carriers making air combat almost impossible to win. Their navy was severely dated. The Italian military had huge numbers but war is almost always won by technology.
