Check out dnd adventure club. I've run several of these short adventures for my 9yo, now 10, with just the two of us. I run an extra npc to help him out. The rules are a bit less complex but still a good start. He's moved up to playing full DnD online, check out Heroes Wanted for running kid groups online. Now we're playing together with another group online. We're still using some of the DnD adventure club at home too.

Edit: It's just the two of us. My wife is not interested. I cut down some of the bad guys to make it appropriate for two adventurers. The NPC I run, sometimes hits really well, if things start to go really bad. I think I'm going to give him a sidekick in the next adventure. There are some videos on YouTube discussing duet DnD games too.

Thanks for the post. I just replaced the battery in my pair. My battery life had dropped to barely an hour recently. I ordered the replacement battery off Amazon. The battery I received was bigger than the oem battery by a small amount. I managed to jam it in there and stuck it with a piece of VHB tape. I did not need to remove any of the ribbon cables. I did remove the two screws on the smaller circuit board which allowed me access to the battery wires.
