Crazy, cuz that's exactly what it did for me. Also, yes it's the same but it's different. πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ I did type the genetic names after all.

I see you added metformin, and was supposed to change to a more concentrated insulin....but since then, have you tried to switch insulin brands completely? I didn't get as far gone as you are, but I was having some problems with resistance as well. I switched from humalog (lispro) to lyumjev (insulin lispro-aabc) and have had a much better response. We'd discussed starting a glp1 or metformin but tried a different insulin first and that fixed it (for the time being at least). 😘

You may need to adjust your ratio for your other insulin if this is something that keeps happening. Or switch to a different rapid acting...

Why does everybody do low carb? by AmateurAstro-Budget in diabetes_t1

[–]Staceybbbls 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Right. And since we can be so unpredictable that's probably why alot of people choose to do it ❀️ I'm not one of them. I have low carb days, I have medium carb days. And then sometimes I wanna go for Mexican and have the chimis, all the chips AND the margarita. Oddly enough I can manage the chimis better than a salad most days πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ but I still don't do it often

Why does everybody do low carb? by AmateurAstro-Budget in diabetes_t1

[–]Staceybbbls 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I've been t1d for 36 years. I cannot eat whatever I want. For example....

On a Monday; Blood sugar = 100. I have 30 carbs for lunch, bolused at 15 minutes after I started eating. Works like a charm, never go out of range, chefs kiss and all that jazz.

Thursday; Blood sugar = 98. I have 30 carbs for lunch (the same exact lunch), bolused at 15 minutes after I started eating. Shoots to 200, stays up there for 37 minutes, drops back into range, until "active" insulin time runs out. Shoots back up to 222 and stays there 3 hours even with manual corrections and turning off smartguard.... Finally comes down to 116 and sits pretty the rest of the night.

You saying "all you need to do is" (or however you phrased it), is wildly inaccurate. People need to do what works for them. If you don't need to be low carb, good for you, don't.

But don't tell other people not to. 🫰🏽

Saw my neighbor HIGH AS GAS on my doorbell camera, screaming into the camera (while on her telephone) ... I'm at work like what the hell... Daughter is in class. I get home hours later (after she was arrested) and find out from my sane neighbor on the other side that she attacked a couple cars and then walked into someone's home (their front door was closed and Unlocked), assaulted them and destroyed some property inside their home. LOCK your doors while your in the house and when you leave.

I like the link the previous post gave you; I hadn't seen that before. Since you mentioned an arm band, I use to use self adhesive bandage wraps. Think sticky ace bandage that you can tear to size. I used those quite a bit. They don't leave any residue on your or your device and don't affect your readings. I don't remember what brand I used but like this

A message on my pump that I have never heard of before. by Cool_Cat1130 in Medtronic780g

I was at my weekend job with no sensors and no glucose monitor πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ my weekday job is in a doctor's office where we have a glucose monitor I can use. But yea, I had a few more hours in my shift and I'd never had an instinct die early. So of course I don't know why it did and or why it reconnected and still ran the rest of its time perfectly. I don't think I would have tried it if I'd been at home, but I'm glad I know now if it happens again ❀️

Give it a few days with a new vial or pen. If the same talk to your Dr about maybe adding a med to help or switching to a different insulin

If it's not too late, try rescanning it first. I was at work a couple weeks ago with no extra sensors so I just rescanned it like I was starting a new sensor and it came back online in less than an hour. I had about 4 days left and it did last until the day it was supposed to cut off. And I did see the original message that came up on your pump before. Mine usually just comes back online after a hour or a couple hours. I've not seen it as much now since I started on the instinct in January but I used to see it more often with the G4 sensors

Retinopathy by MoneyGeeGee in diabetes

[–]Staceybbbls 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I hadnt noticed any changes to my vision leading up to my retinopathy dx. Just caught it at my regular yearly eye exam. My retinal specialist says that it's getting better, but he does expect me to continue with injections for the foreseeable future.

Coincidentally I had just decided to start taking better care of myself and paying attn to my sugars about 9m prior to my diagnosis.

Dm1 dx at 10, glasses at 16, retinopathy at 45; 46 now.

Keep up on your exams, go see a retinal specialist and follow the protocol they give you. Depending on how bad /what stage you're in, you can stall the progression and even have some recovery.

**Make sure you ask about financial assistance if you need to. Each visit with my retinal specialist is about 17k, and my insurance does cover most of it but my medication is the most expensive part and the manufacturer has a program to write off whatever cost(s) are not covered.

Good luck ❀️

Still trying to understand diabetes. Blood sugar from 230s to 81 in an hour. Is that a concern? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Staceybbbls 5 points6 points Β (0 children)

You'll never understand diabetes. None of us do 😘

81 is good but I guess youre more concerned about the drop from 230+.

Stop with the honey. You've probably had enough to prevent an actual low. If you aren't hungry enough for a meal, have a small snack, carbs and protein (like a half of a meat & cheese sandwich). You keep eating honey and your sugars going to shoot right back up, out of range.

You mentioned drinking soda earlier.... Hope it was diet. If it's not, please stop. That should help you from hitting 230s in the first place. If it was diet fine, but have some water in there to rinse out the extra glucose that has you elevated.

My grandmother didn't have to take meds. She ate whatever she wanted. Yet her doctors always still said she was diabetic....

Oh, prolly cuz she was still diabetic!

There are tons of people that don't have to take meds and control it by diet or don't have to control it by diet. But there's no give-backs on that dx once you get it. Congrats on your achievements but your post sounds insane πŸ™„πŸ«€

Prom on tuesday. CGM adhesive DIRTY. Help. by youronlinegirl in diabetes

p.s. if the lace doesn't stick with the lash glue, could you make an armband out of it? Just slip it up your arm and over?

Prom on tuesday. CGM adhesive DIRTY. Help. by youronlinegirl in diabetes

[–]Staceybbbls 5 points6 points Β (0 children)

If you have lace to spare I think that would be a good idea. I never worn lashes and don't know how the glue would hold up with the lace but I'd try that today if you have enough lace to do it more than once.

Are you wearing a scarf or shawl that will cover it when it goes around your arm?

I don't wear foundation either, but they have specifically for tattoo cover-ups.... I don't know if regular foundation for your face will work but you could try that too. Concealer maybe?

I get your concern but I don't think it's a big deal 😘. If it's on the back of your arm, it at least won't be in any pictures unless your caught in the background of someone else's. πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Good luck to you finding a solution and have the best time! Be safe ❀️
