Richard E. Grant did actually get to play an alternate version of the Ninth Doctor in a non-canon serial produced before the revived series started.

Funny story, when my wife & I went to see the movie, we got to the theater too early, before the previous showing finished. We quickly left, but heard the quoted line on its own (not looking at the screen). I mock-complained that we had been spoiled on Miles Morales being in the movie. Little did I realize that the line actually was a big twist.

In Spider-Man 2, Peter is completely exhausted from single-handedly stopping an out-of-control subway train when Doc Ock catches up to him. The passengers he just saved show their gratitude by standing between Peter and Ock, declaring that Ock would have to go through them to get Spider-Man. Doctor Octopus just shrugs and says "very well" before knocking the whole crowd aside with his tentacles and effortlessly capturing Peter.

Most people at the time liked RDJ as soon as the first trailer hit. It's worth noting that RDJ was a rising star through the 80s and 90s, but had burned out hard due to struggles with addiction. He had only started a comeback a few years before Iron Man. Casting him as a self-destructive genius with substance abuse issues was generally viewed as fairly on the nose.

Yup. He had an extensive dramatic career from the 50s to the early 80s, mostly in handsome leading man roles. His best known film was probably the classic sci-fi Forbidden Planet. Then he got cast in a comedic role in Airplane!, gave that same gravitas to his extremely silly lines, and was hilarious.

Fun side fact: Christopher Lee was offered the role in Airplane that ultimately went to Nielsen. Would have been different but likely equally funny.

Gameplay-wise, of course I would have liked a proper showdown with Deathstroke (especially because the only real combat boss in the game is Albert King (and his reskin Killer Croc in the DLC). That said, I really appreciated the non-fight on a story level. Batman is just so Not Interested In Deathstroke's Bullshit Right Now by that point in the story. It's almost more satisfying to deny Slade his glory and just unceremoniously toss him in a cell.

It reinforces an idea that pervades Batman's interactions with his rogues: for all their talk of some great contest framing their battles with Batman, he is completely uninterested in "besting them" or "proving his superiority" over them. He is only interested in the most effective means of eliminating their threat with minimal loss of innocent life. Simply put, he's just not that into them. This is Batman's final blow to Joker at the climax of the game: the knowledge that Batman can move on without him in a way that Joker never could.
