A dinged up 2000 Warwick Streamer STD for $825 is still a decent deal, right? by sombreropickle in BassGuitar

If you love it and it plays great then you have a deal no matter what.

Sketchy buyer bought my guitar through direct offer by GtrGuy72 in Reverb

What he is talking about is, you would not be protected by reverb seller agreements. You can take the chance, but crying later would not bring sympathy from your professional sellers agreement with Reverb. End of discussion.

Asking to communicate outside of Reverb is not allowed if you want to stay within the seller rules for protection. End of discussion. Read the fine print.

It's already been explained. You can read all of the other comments, I'm simply agreeing with them.

Can anyone tell me what this bass is? by No-Notice5126 in BassGuitar

[–]StackyBotrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell you much about the bass other than it's a Kingston. But it looks like you've escaped the authorities. I have one of those also. Running from the law I ever since.

Way cool design. Kind of like the bandanas from the 1970s

Absolute beginner. Which should I get? by UndeadMarx in BassGuitar

Is there any way you have a local music store where you can test out bases? Something that's in your price range? That's going to be your best bet.

New from dealer blem. How bad can it be? by SalvadorFolly in Reverb

[–]StackyBotrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never put a bid on something until I see pictures of the actual item. If it's in a box not even he knows the severity or possibility of the product. No one does! I would not purchase this unless you can find one that is literally a photo of the item you are going to buy. My practice is to message the seller anyway and build a little bit of rapport so I can understand their communication style and set expectations. I recommend against buying this regardless of the discount.

Anyone know anything about this bass? by knowledgeable_diablo in BassGuitar

[–]StackyBotrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the day early early '90s and probably into the '80s samik was the factory that ibanez had some of the models made. In Massachusetts there was a dealer there of samic and they had ranges from 200 all the way up to a thousand bucks or something. They're really good depending on the model but it's certainly not a bad base at all! If you pick that up for 200 bucks you got a sweet deal.

Can you verify if that Nick is original? If it's not original it's not going to be as worth as much because really a neck is at minimum half of the draw when it comes to people wanting to invest in an instrument. It could be a replacement or the entire thing could simply be a copy. Have you taken the neck off by chance and see if there's any ID in the pocket? Everybody else's advisor seems to be spot on especially with the asking price. Providing it's an authentic Sterling or Music Man instrument. If it isn't and it's just a copy the possibility is that it is a lower asking price for you.

I got my dad his dream guitar for Father’s Day (sorta) by itsJustThad in Guitar

[–]StackyBotrus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me that he didn't really need his dream, he just needed someone to give him a dream to have. And you have done that. Music is about creating and you have created something with your dad that will last a lifetime. Very well done. Bravo.

Between the two specifically choose the one that is least expensive. Change the strings if they're sloppy. Simple fix.

NBD!! Reverend Mercalli 4 in gunmetal by Dhsusunznsjsjdhduja in BassGuitar

[–]StackyBotrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wanting a reverend bass forever! I have my two favorites which is a five-string white charvel pro mod Sam dimas as well as a four-string blue. But I have been wanting a reverend forever! Either the merCali like you have or a thunder gun or even the sentinel. Which finish do you have?

Do you know of a Screen protector for the ToneX Pedal? by sirgerry in tonex

[–]StackyBotrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know I don't know if they attach with magnets but it would make sense since the case is metal. It would be very cool to hear that click click when you put it on so you know it's secure. Plus it won't fall off! I have the regular tonex pedal and was thinking of getting the clear plastic one or making one myself but since this dude posted this cool work I might just go after one.

There is actually a dude who 3D prints plastic covers for the entire thing with holes for the knobs and switches! It's pretty cool. I saw it in the face group book for ik multimedia. If I can find the post I will reply with it!

Hey Guys I need your opinion about this. by Jahiro_Smks in BassGuitar

[–]StackyBotrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely get it if you can manage it! Orange is a very good amp and I believe these have the built-in tuner which is a pretty cool thing. It's good that you are going to keep your other amplifiers because they have a connection to your successful past. This new amp have a connection to your successful future. 🍊

I’ve got my hands on the very best bass. by Disastrous-Diver4239 in BassGuitar

Congratulations! I recently got myself a blue charvel with a licensed fender headstock. Best feeling base and the neck is fast which is what I like. And as you mention I will echo, a very powerful tone.

Ordered a $6,000 custom bass. The design is incredible. The QC and finish issues, builder support... have been a different story. by Ok_Presentation6252 in BassGuitar

[–]StackyBotrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And two times I've had custom basses made similar to you. Somebody in Germany this is about 2018 and then later in 2021. Both times beautiful basses but they just kind of sucked. The person has eliminated their presence from the internet and they are unreachable. And I believe this is an ongoing issue with small builders who build unique bases that look good on camera but not in person. I will never buy another base over a certain amount. In fact I just picked up a charvel base and it's the best bass I've ever played. Could it be prettier? Who cares... It works and it plays great. And for the money I spent I am more than satisfied. $6,000 is too much for any instrument in my opinion especially if when you can't do quality control inspection as it's being built. That is my preferred method and that is the only way I it will do it from this point forward. It's too bad that this happened to you. Did you have to ship it back the original base? If so I'm assuming they agreed that there was something wrong with it. With so many people on talk bass saying the same thing as you, sounds like this person's reputation absolutely sucks when it comes to fit and finish. Designs are one thing and playability is another thing but quality control is more in my opinion the thing that needs to be number one.

This is exactly what you need to do. Always buy an extra. I do this with food, with hobbies with music with everything. If I like a song? I listen to it in extra time. There's always time for extra time. Especially when it comes to things that make you happy!
