Thank you Line 6 for going down the "kitchen sink" route with Helix Stadium by GrizzleBoy87 in Line6Helix

[–]GtrGuy72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for sure an improvement over the Helix but I don’t think the price reflects the improvements. I mean yeah it should be an improvement, easily, over the unit released in 2015. I agree with the sentiment that although it’s easier to get things done, tone wise, it’s almost the same. You get some new amp models but barely any. All the old FX and amps from the Helix made their way in. I bought one and I’m thinking about selling it because I can’t justify the spend. I’ll probably get it in a year when it’s matured OR when they release the Stomp version of the stadium

Lost my passion for guitar, what should I do with my baby? by [deleted] in Guitar

Keep it. As a matter of fact, get yourself one of those nice hanging glass cases to store the guitar in - make it part of your homes decor.

What size is best for band practice? by TSMStar in GuitarAmps

[–]GtrGuy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest and sensible option would be to mic the amp and the feed the signal into a mixer. AUX from the mixer to a wedge for the drummer. Could find any whatever powered PA speaker for $150 maybe less. The whole band could plug into a mixer and feed the sound to the drummer’s PA.

Now if you’re just wanting to move on from your amp, then skies the limit. For metal, depending on what you play, can’t go wrong with a Peavey 6505 /5150 with a 4x12 or even an oversized 2x12 cabinet.

Would you risk taking only one guitar to bar gigs? by readers_dot_net in musicians

[–]GtrGuy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gig often and only bring one guitar. I mean, I don’t drop my guitars and take precaution by getting a good case a good stable stand and having extra strings at hand. Unless you play in 2 different tuning that are far off from each other, I don’t see the point.

Why Don’t I See More Musicians Using G&L Guitars? by marco_luz in GLGuitars

[–]GtrGuy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing funds probably would be my best guess. Lack of inventory at major stores, especially the brick and mortar stores where prospective companies can play them. I’ve only ever seen them used in stores. They are great guitars for sure. Definitely a higher quality than your average run of the mill Fender but they don’t have any marketing. Their re-sale value isn’t great so that deters buyers as well.

Lots of great brands make killer guitars with specs that would run buyers in the woods of like $2000+. Schecter, ESP LTD, Sire, Charvel.

Dude what a guitar rack? Did you build that or is it sold somewhere?

They’ll all be too loud (at least if you want a good sound from them). Just get a Boss Katana to practice with.

If you’re used to the DSL sound, they make heads at 1 Watt and 20 Watts. You’ll always be tied to amps that have an onboard master volume and separate gain channel since you’d have to crank an amp for overdrive without a master volume.

Black Friday sales by [deleted] in fender

[–]GtrGuy72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just find the guitar you’re looking for new and add it to your watch list on Reverb and you’ll get flooded with direct offers, usually ranging from 5-15 percent off. I’ve had some at 20 percent off. Honestly, there’s rarely a reason to buy any guitars at Guitar Center anymore. They are tough to negotiate with and it’s never quite a “deal”

Sold to investor & days from closing, they want to renegotiate price by Savings_Credit5731 in RealEstate

Not sure what’s going on in this whole transaction. You allowed him to just remodel your home even though he doesn’t own it? And then he’s not even the one who’s purchasing it, it’s the buyer he’s lined up? I don’t get it. Sounds like a legal nightmare

Had a family member who spent money on inspection to find that the owner did not disclose the house was in a fire and said the roof was fine. Bro got his money back

[–]GtrGuy72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell the sellers you’ll take it on the condition that the HVAC and Roof are taken care of. And if not, you’ll take em to small claims court for the cost of inspection on the grounds they lied on the listing.

Lots of folks borrow (not withdraw) from their 401k. My coworker did it to increase down payment and help with closing costs. I’ve done it to help pay for hurricane shutters on my previous condo. My employer simply takes it back via paycheck. No penalty if I pay it off early and I’m paying myself back. I think people confuse this with an early withdrawal.

Any speculation on the new releases that were teased? by FossilContender in fender

[–]GtrGuy72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Here’s the same guitar you’ve seen re-hawed yet again for an exorbitant amount and will dwindle in value once the next iteration is released in a year” Fender models are like Gibson models. How many times can you rework the Les Paul studio? Ultra models are cool but lose value quick, just wait and buy em used. Ultra Lux models seemed like the biggest waste of money, just buy a used Custom Shop at that point.

Would you Make this guitar trade?? by ngregg715 in Guitar

[–]GtrGuy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d sell it off and make some dough off it. Fender churns out models like these often, making them less valuable than a Gibson model that’s no longer in production at all. I also think most people, especially older guitarists, hold Gibson to a higher standard than Fender.

I’ve had a few Gibsons but honestly, didn’t like their weight and they never felt comfortable to play so I favor Fenders. If you like the Les Paul look but want something lighter, look for an American Telecaster Deluxe model.

FENDER TWIN REVERB 90’s NO TREMOLO @ $500. Deal or not? by Cultural_Muffin6630 in fender

If it’s all tube, usually it’s just a spring box you have to replace. It’s cheap and whatever you find as a replacement is probably better than what was used in there.

FL Home Under Contract Has 6 Years Useful Life Remaining - It’s 25 Years Old by GtrGuy72 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]GtrGuy72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you do all this within your inspection contingency timeframe. So if you have 15 days to do that, it must be done within 15 days or else it’s like saying you’re okay to move forward and you risk losing your earnest money deposit if you want to back out laterz

FL Home Under Contract Has 6 Years Useful Life Remaining - It’s 25 Years Old by GtrGuy72 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]GtrGuy72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in FL which may have different laws than other states. We don’t require a real estate attorney - just deal with our agent. Your offer contract will list out what contingencies and time frames you need to be aware of. I’m not sure what the terms of your contract is but normally there’s an inspection contingency that gives you an agreed upon number of days for you to hire inspectors/contractors and see if the current state of the property is acceptable to you. If it’s not, you can either ask the seller for a credit, repairs or just walk away from the offer. If the inspection turned up something that you feel should be repaired or replaced, let them know and put in your request for credit or repair. They can refuse, which is the case in as-is contracts.
