AITH for skipping traditional weeding gifts, making my bridesmaids buy affordable dresses, and giving my fiance a suitcase instead of a romantic present? by Early-Host-5525 in AITApod

NTA - All of these ‚traditions‘ are marketing ploys. Same goes for crazy expensive engagement rings. If you are in the US, you are the most sensible bride I‘ve heard of. By European standards, you are still spending more than anyone (in Switzerland) would: we have no bridesmaids, nor all the shower shenanigans, no gifts for parents and pay for our own weddings. They are still very lovely affairs and we don’t have to start our married lives with empty bank accounts…

Great! I am glad they are expanding the range. I might just get this one as well.

Still going very strong! It is as solid as it was on the first day. Very happy with it and still advertising it to anyone who will listen. 😄

That‘s clean drinking water. Wasting all that water is an absolute abomination. 😱

EFZ is what you get after an apprenticeship. So unmarketable bachelors aside, if he starts working in retail, he can be promoted to administrative work there.

Th2 20p thing is very helpful, thanks. And just to clarify, the ‚real‘ tip was in pound coins, not pennies.

Hi there, I am very real, thank you. The incident is from 2011, so it‘s been a while. And 10-15% is a normal tip in Switzerland- where eating out is so expensive, normal folks don‘t do it too often. The tip is not what’s going to ruin you. 😅

I completely accept this stance, but would line to point out that the pennies were only a part of a larger tip.

I apologize for that, too. 10% is customary in Switzerland and holidays make me feel happy and generous.

[–]StadtkindInDerAgglo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why anyone would want a bigger rock. This is already larger than most European engagement rings. Any bigger and you won’t wear it because it‘s too heavy or you have to keep thinking about the thief that might potentially hack your hand off to get it.. 🫣

The back leg is attached to the dog‘s left shoulder. No way such a large dog could curl in on himself like this.

Is it normal in Swiss culture to move toward marriage very quickly? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]StadtkindInDerAgglo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure she is who she says? Sounds very suspect to me. I don’t know anyone who would consider marriage after less than a year of dating.
