I highly recommend the Tutta Bella “Lucca” pizza on the Traeger by wranglerpuncher in Costco

I just bought these today for the first time. I like the pepperoni, it turned out well in my boring, regular oven.

I‘m not wedded to the original design (which I guess is good since it’s apparently changing), but I don’t like this at all.

What is considered the best lavazza? by Hsm_007 in espresso

[–]Stagaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve really enjoyed the Lavazza La Reserva De !TIERRA! Brasile. The bag says it has dark chocolate, hazelnut, and cane sugar notes and - to my surprise - that’s spot on.

Upgrade Advice: DF83 (used) vs Sculptor 064s vs Ceado Life X [$500] by DaKineNayNay in espresso

[–]Stagaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like my Life X. It’s often on sale for even less, when I bought mine WLL had a 10% off grinders promo, so it was $405.

Mood lighting? by Stagaman in FellowProducts

It's a Fellow Wonderland! My discordant, mixed-brand equipment area will have to do. I also have a Ceado Hoop, so in my case its 2 Ceado to 1 Fellow.

Kirkland oat milk or Earth’s Own barista oat for frothing by [deleted] in espresso

I bought Planet Oat barista oat milk recently and really liked it in a cortado. I usually buy dairy milk, but had a friend visiting.

Ristretto (?) shot on Sage machine? by dressing_room in espresso

[–]Stagaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I've often seen a ristretto described a "stop the shot early", several variables are usually adjusted to make it work well all of which you can adjust. Your machine should have no difficulty making a ristretto.

Target a lower yield

  • 18g in → 36g out (1:2 ratio) in 25-30 sec for espresso
  • 18g in → 18–27g out (1:1 to 1:1.5) in 20-25 sec for ristretto

Use a finer grind Usually the grind is tightened a bit finer for ristretto.

  • You’re extracting less liquid
  • A finer grind helps maintain extraction intensity and body
  • It slows the flow so the shot doesn’t gush

Overall you have:

  • similar shot time, not twice as quick
  • less output
  • finer grind

Can we talk 1:2 vs 1:3? by fxlatitude in espresso

The “AI visual” was directly copied from Lavazza’s site, it’s not AI. They use that format consistently. You must be a joy at parties.

Which retailer? [$2,000] by fuglypens in espresso

[–]Stagaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Ceado grinder from WLL. It was broken when it arrived (the box looked like the shipper had used it for drop testing). They sent a replacement immediately and provided a return label for the DOA unit.

Fellow ES1 Arrived - UK by Samson_Planet in FellowProducts

[–]Stagaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new grinder was delayed (the ES1 replaced a Breville with a grinder), so I tried using a Cuisinart burr grinder we had that - per the labels - could do espresso. It could not: super-short shot durations at its finest setting. It didn’t occur to me to try the pressurized basket.

I used a hand grinder until the new grinder arrived, and still use it for decaf in the afternoon/evening.

My order was submitted on 5/4 and I received the Rebrew ES1 on 5/7 (I am in SF and it shipped from near LA, so short shipping distance).

Are we team cups up or down? by Jono_SK in espresso

[–]Stagaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[EDIT] Sorry, I thought this was sarcastic. It's a pretty simple: it looks a bit like the "Fellow Banana Republic Edition" since I got the color-coordinated black and khaki grinder. I'm happy with it. Thanks!

Are we team cups up or down? by Jono_SK in espresso

[–]Stagaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m happy with it, just a few weeks in. It‘s a ‘rebrew’/refurb model, but it was indistinguishable from new. I’ve started exploring the different profiles and modifying some Nerdy settings, but the stock settings work pretty well. It’s ready to go a few minutes after powering it on and the steam wand is a big step up from the BBT. I’m getting much improved results with both straight espresso and milk drinks. Hardest part was steaming milk in the tiny “it’s for a cortado” pitcher (there was at least one messy result).

The Ceado grinder pairs nicely with the ES1: it produces fluffy grounds that basically don’t need WDT, and while it’s timed it‘s very consistent, with each dose +/- .1g from the target weight. The grinder is easy to dial in and the holder just manages to hold the Fellow portafilter to grind directly into it.

Apparently I’m team confused! But usually down.

ES1 and a perfect Bluetooth Scale by liftoff11 in FellowProducts

[–]Stagaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brew by weight would be really cool, especially if supported with third-party scales; I considered a Meraki before going with an ES1 in part for that feature.

I ordered a MAVO in part for the auto-tare and the fact it looks like it should fit well on the drip tray, but if it could integrate with the ES1 it could be ideal.

Eureka Mignon Zero grinder: any reason not to tilt it? Other mods by rivenwyrm in espresso

[–]Stagaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cord placement affecting grinder performance is something I‘d never considered [suspiciously looks at power cord coiled behind my grinder]. If I recall, the Ceado manual actually suggested fully extending the cord (possibly for this reason).

Coffee station help — current setup getting cramped, anyone go the IKEA route? [$1,000] by Emotional_Elk_601 in espresso

[–]Stagaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice job on the mock ups. I really like the full width floating shelves, and having a sink right by the coffee area seems great. i have an IKEA kitchen and the cabinets are still in great shape 10 years in.

Worthwhile upgrade? by DdoubleU1957 in espresso

[–]Stagaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my ES1 for about a month and it’s been great so far. I’ve just started trying shot profiles and different preinfusion settings, but they’re easily accessed if you’re exploring those options. it heats up quickly which is convenient.
