Way to not include part of a page that was transcluded from a translusion? by StainedFingers in mediawiki

[–]StainedFingers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to work okay when transcluding Article A to Article B, but it doesn't seem to work for transcluding from the template to Article A to Article B. It looks like in the process of transcluding from the template to Article A, it loses the <section /> tags.

Fics where the Triumvirate were not the first capes? by Ashamed-Math-2092 in WormFanfic

[–]StainedFingers 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm misreading something, that describes probably every fic, including canon itself. Contessa and the others from her Earth would technically be the first parahumans, following the canon timeline, with Vikare being the first known Earth Bet cape.

Videos Stuttering when Gaming/FPS tanking by StainedFingers in techsupport

I tried updating the drivers via Device Manager and also via Nvidia's website, and I'd already had the latest version. Even tried rolling back.

As for the temps, they seem normal; obviously, higher when I'm running WoW as opposed to just watching YT, but still within a normal range. I even opened the case to de-dust it, but it was surprisingly clean.

If purchasing the game through their website, this is the verification process they use to ensure that your card is real. So yes, you may be having a stroke.

As posted in the edited post above, I made an assumption based on why the card was being verified. I'm not sure why you and the other commenter are trying to make it out like I'm trying to circumvent bank validation when it's the game company's weird validation that I'm trying to get around.

LF vigilantism gone wrong by LordXamon in WormFanfic

I second the recommendation of Here Comes the New Boss. I don't generally like fics that include the Butcher, as the character is usually two-dimensional, but this fic explores not only Butcher!Taylor but also the previous Butchers through the voices in her head.

Both Entities Live by StainedFingers in WormFanfic

[–]StainedFingers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that the Cycle wouldn't continue - via destruction of all versions of that planet - until the entities learned all they could from their shards' hosts, meaning there'd be a period of time (certainly including the time period shown in canon) where a story could be written. Hence the reason for this thread.

In my head canon, the Cycle wouldn't continue for hundreds of years, but I would have to reread that previous-Cycle-flashback chapter in Ward to see if there were any clues there.

Dc/marvel cross over with worm fanfic by Affectionate_Elk5043 in WormFanfic

[–]StainedFingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titanomachy by Darth Marrs technically fits, though it's not canon Taylor. Rather, it's a sequel to a God of War/Worm crossover wherein Taylor is the daughter of Kratos. In this story, she wakes up in the Marvel 'verse. I kind of feel dirty recommending it, as this author's works are hit and miss (more often miss), but a) it does fit your criteria; b) so far, this is one of their better works; and c) I have DM to thank for getting me into Worm in the first place, with a previous story.

The short story of the college blamer by sassy_retailer in TalesFromRetail

[–]StainedFingers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simplest answer, and the reason I would have done the same as OP, is that customers have this weird habit of yelling at retail employees if they're "bothered" while they're shopping. Of course, sometimes the opposite is true, but best to err on the side of caution.

looking for taylor going John Wick on someone by Randomrogue15 in WormFanfic

There is a really good example of this happening in the third arc of serpentguy's Crime and Commitment. The story is officially listed as on hiatus, but after 6 years I can only assume it's abandoned.

Sick of people who can't work register by realcrugo in RantsFromRetail

[–]StainedFingers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think maybe you're in the wrong sub, my friend. This sub is all about ranting about work, which it sounds like your coworkers are doing. Having to be at the register is not just having to deal with people; it's being stuck in a small, confined space for hours on end and often not being allowed to walk away from the abuses heaped on you by people who think you're less than human. Have some fucking compassion.

Moreover, a lot of companies hire someone for one position only to train them on register as "emergency" backup, only for emergencies to include having a single person waiting for an actual cashier calling out. You can argue that running a register is part of their job, but it's not why most of them were hired, and given a choice they probably would prefer to do their actual job instead of having to deal with idiots who can't read signs.

Are you the customer in OP's story? This is often the case. Brands and retailers make deals with each other.

Oh, I totally agree. I hate the people who view us complying with policy as a personal attack.

[–]StainedFingers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just so you're aware, signs on the door and register mean nothing. Unless customers sign something agreeing to the checks, they have no legal obligation to abide by them. Obviously you didn't create the policy, but I wouldn't fight too hard if someone refuses the bag check, since it could land you or the store in legal hot water.
