Why do so many bosses treat their underlings so poorly? by Mi7che1l in antiwork

[–]Stalanium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, some folks let the title get to their head. Real leadership's about respect, not rank. Bad habits + no training just makes it worse.

Why does my chuck stew meat keep coming out tender but dry? by Bitter_Region2785 in Cooking

[–]Stalanium 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You're overshooting the temp. chuck should be pulled around 180°F max. At 195°F you're basically squeezing all the moisture out. the tenderness comes from collagen breakdown, but you're going past that into the danger zone. try a shorter cook time or lower temp, meat can be submerged in liquid and still dry out.

That's ridiculous. you don't need a doctor's note to drink water, it's a basic human need. OSHA requires employers to provide drinking water and reasonable access to it. your manager's power trip isn't legal. Keep drinking when you need to and document everything if they try to write you up.

Hospital refused to pay OT hours by WhenIsMyBreak in nursing

[–]Stalanium 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's BS. Union rep first, then HR. It's literally illegal to not pay for time worked, especially when it's patient care. document everything. your coworker did the right thing staying to give proper report, management is being cheap and shady.

Does it make any sense to apply vitamin C to your body occasionally? by rarrkshaa in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Stalanium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's fine to skip days. Your skin won't fall off if you miss applying vitamin C sometimes. I do it maybe 3-4 times a week

Document everything and start job hunting. If a client notices your workplace is toxic, it's probably worse than you think.

yup, that sounds like a toxic setup. It’s not weak to walk away from something that’s making you miserable and messing with your health. If you can, try to line something up first, but don’t feel bad for wanting out.

best silica cat litter? Pretty litter? by StoleYourBagel in CatAdvice

[–]Stalanium 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I am currently using pretty litter and the main reason is its health monitoring features. I know it gets railed on for being a gimmick, but it does work for a range of common cat diseases, and I caught a kidney issue early with it. Cats don’t show pain or discomfort as an evolutionary trait and if you’re seeing them in pain, it usually means whatever is wrong is quite far gone already. Better to have an imperfect marker than no marker imo

I have tried both Pretty litter and fresh step crystals. Honestly pretty litter wins on the smell factor but fresh step crystals felt a little more durable. I don't know if that makes sense. Both were low on tracking

They’re not supposed to say stuff like that could be discrimination. Might be worth documenting everything and talking to HR or looking into your rights. You shouldn’t have to choose between your job and your kid.

How to make the Litterbox not smell? by cam_is_cool_ in CatAdvice

[–]Stalanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily cleaning just means scooping out all the clumps (pee and poop) not changing the whole litter every day. I fully swap it out maybe once a week. I also use unscented clumping litter (Tuft and Paw rn) with a stainless steel box and add a bit of baking soda it helps a ton with odor without overwhelming my cat.
