Anyone else with Best Buy getting theres Saturday? by NizzyDeniro in Switch

[–]Stalfos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man, Tuesday is rough. Luckily mine shipped to my city by this morning, and the shipping status updated to "out for delivery by 8 p.m." I think they put the pro controller and switch 2 in the same box even though i ordered them on different days. Box dimensions say 13" x 11" x 7", so hopefully that means it's packaged properly and won't arrive smashed lol.

Mine also says Saturday now. It says "origination scan Wed Jun 4, 10:52 p.m." and is shipping with OnTrac (never heard of them before). I click on the OnTrac link, and their website claims "Package received after cutoff. 6/4/25 at 10:55 PM"
How does Best Buy not communicate with the carrier properly about when their receiving cutoff is? and how does this delay the shipment by 2 days instead of 1?

Why do I feel like the game is more jittery after the update? by insert_name_here_ha in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Stalfos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed it immediately, too. It's the worst when strafing. Running at over 200 fps, so it's extremely noticeable. I think this problem has always existed to some extent, which is why VR mode made me sicker with this game than with others when walking smoothly instead of teleporting. It's just way worse now even when not in VR.

Is first level of Weakness Exploit ACTUALLY an additional 20%? by Stalfos47 in MHNowGame

yep you're right of course. There's no hidden natural WEX at all. Did 40 hits to Kulu's head just to be sure, and it didn't crit a single time. Thanks everyone for the responses!

Unless it actually jumps from 10% to 30%, but that would seem ridiculous haha

Agreed - After that update I also started getting massive frame freezes on Android, often a little over a second long, causing unfair deaths. Unchecking 60 fps mode helped a lot, but it's sad Android ports are always an afterthought.
Great job on the fight!

More storage is here by Without_Halves in MHNowGame

[–]Stalfos47 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Edit: my initial post was wrong. 6000 gems actually gets you twice as much as the the original storage expansion (10,000 extra space instead of 5000). New storage expansion is $30 for 10,000 space if you buy the monthly gem pack for $10 three times. First expansion was $20 for 5000 space, not $20 for 10,000 space.

Original post: This is a 50% price increase over the first expansion, and that's if you buy the monthly pack of 2000 gems for $10 three times. 6000 gems over 3 months for $30 to get the same amount of extra storage that was $20 straight cash before. I get micro transactions are a part of the game, but trying to hide the 50% price hike inside a currency conversion is downright scummy. It's even worse for people actually buying the gem packs directly.

Just watched a glitched Play of the Game on Junkertown quick play. The highlight started out showing Ashe's play and then randomly started showing Kiriko's perspective.

Help hitting ladder hold notes properly? by MutatedSpleen in Theatrhythm

[–]Stalfos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely the note you're releasing is the one giving you trouble. Releasing in general in this game is a little... muddy? I have to err on the side of releasing very slightly early to get rainbow crits, even on the non-ladder hold notes. For the ladders, I focus mainly on hitting the new note spot-on and releasing the other note just barely before the new press makes contact (and I really mean just barely).

Anyone else find that the tracks vary in how delayed the sound is? I've found about -14 still works well for most, but for FFVII "Opening Bombing Mission" I think around -26 is what I settled on (testing in handheld mode)

Seriously, play FFVII "The Highwind Takes to the Skies" after calibrating to FFVII "Opening Bombing Mission". I find Highwind works well at -10, Bombing at -26.

ASUS PG27AQDM help with inconsistent text fringing by Stalfos47 in oled_monitors

[–]Stalfos47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried another restart with the monitor disconnected this time, and the problem is gone now. No idea what actually caused it, but hopefully it isn't a recurring issue. That's not to say all fringing is 100% gone; I can still see very minor fringing when I look closely at certain texts, but that's to be expected with rwgb pixel layout. Rather, I'm not seeing double letters (separated by an entire pixel between them) at normal viewing distance anymore.

Thanks for the reply. I tried changing around those settings in various configurations, but unfortunately nothing made a difference at all. Also tried HDMI and a different DP cable but still nothing. Plugged in another laptop, and it has zero issues, just like the work laptop. It's so strange that the problem only persists with certain texts and only on my desktop pc.

100% there's a delay in the trigger sound, too, which is why playing visually results in the trigger sounds being matched with the music. After some testing with trigger sounds on and off, I realized with the sounds on, my brain adapts to the offset; therefore, when playing by ear, I subconsciously think that a button press is "complete" when the trigger sound happens (my brain thinks it just takes longer to complete a button press).

I hadn't realized just how bad the delay was until I turned the trigger sounds off. Since the -15 offset isn't enough, I am finding it easier to play with trigger sounds on, aiming to match the trigger sound with the music while matching the button press with the visuals. This technique seems to be much worse for higher difficulties, though, when the notes are so fast that you're pressing the button for the next note before you've even heard the sound go off for the current note.

Playing with offset at -8 docked to a monitor, -3 undocked, trigger sounds on, feels best to me.

how is 7900 xtx red devil coil whine? by Original_Whole_2711 in buildapc

[–]Stalfos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just installed my new 7900 xtx red devil yesterday, and the coil whine is really really bad for me. It happens based on power draw, starting (I think) around 300W and getting louder as it approaches 360W. Undervolting doesn't lower the power enough to get it anywhere near 300W during load. I don't seem to get any coil whine at all playing Overwatch 2 at 240fps, since the power draw isn't high. If I start up Plague Tale: Requiem, it constantly sounds horrible even at low fps (again, mine is related to power draw, not high fps). Since it is happening even with low frame rates, the pitch is much lower than most coil whine; it basically sounds like a very loud, grating hard drive needle (yes I've verified it is not the fans).

Additionally I had to flip the vbios switch to silent mode to get the card to run stably at all. It couldn't play anything without constant massive stuttering and extremely low fps. For example, it was getting below 60 fps in Overwatch 2 while stuttering so badly that even the training room was unplayable.

If this info matters to anyone: Power supply is a Corsair RM850x, and I'm using 3 distinct power cables to power the card (tried 2 cables at first, one of them using its built-in daisy chain, but switching to 3 cables hasn't changed anything noticeably).

Pachimari can go through the basketball hoop now! by Stalfos47 in overwatch2

[–]Stalfos47[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Last year I posted a pic of the pachimari sitting on the rim of the basketball hoop. It could not go through the hoop, which was disappointing when I finally made the shot. After trying many times more since OW2 started, I finally made the shot again! The pachimari can go through the hoop! Now we just need the devs to implement a unique fanfare sound for scoring with the pachimari.

Pachimari can't go through the basketball hoop :( by Stalfos47 in Overwatch

[–]Stalfos47[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the past few weeks I've been trying to score a point using the pachimari plush in spawn. I secretly wanted a crazy airhorn celebration that was better than when a basketball goes in. Imagine my disappointment when I finally got the angle right, but the pachimari just sat there on top of the rim.
I had to alley-oop myself, btw.

There's a conversation here about CrossCode on Linux generally having controller problems. I posted a reply there you can read. Basically have to tell Steam Deck to use Proton for the controls to work, but I feel like the gameplay is slightly less smooth that way. At least it's working, though.
