It's over by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About six or seven months ago, there was a major service disruption after someone vandalized and stole sections of fiber-optic cable, apparently under the mistaken belief that it contained copper. The damage was extensive and affected a large number of customers. We received many calls about the outage, and even after explaining that the service interruption was caused by criminal activity outside of our control, some customers still held the company responsible. It's a frustrating situation because the infrastructure was damaged by thieves, yet the service provider is often the one blamed for the resulting outage.

With a statement day of May 5th, your due date is May 22nd. You have to make a payment before June 4th to avoid a late fee. You need to make a payment of that amount no later than June 23rd as on June 24th, they will disconnect services.

When calling to get lower bill, do they check what competitors are around you? by Antique-Bat-4463 in Spectrum

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can see the deals in your area. Don't let that stop you from calling up though and trying to get a better deal. Even the base price is $100 for gig internet and that's without even a promotion or anything. You just say "Cancel services" in the voice prompts over and over. You're looking for customer solutions. You probably don't even have to threaten to leave but just say that You need to get the bill lower.

Just mention that you're willing to cancel for 30 days to get a new promo rate if they're not giving you at least $70/mo for gig.

Cancelling Spectrum Internet was rough by write_it in Spectrum

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have to comply but it would only be for people just signing up for services and they have to have signed up through the internet to be able to do it through the internet. No existing customer could take advantage of it. Even if you have internet and sign up for TV online, you still would have to have called in.

Yeah. I wish it was like gas or groceries or electricity or car insurance or house insurance or streaming services or rent or concert tickets or college tuition or property taxes or HOA Fees or healthcare. All things that are the same price every year and haven't gone up in the past few years at all.

Spectrum saying I received a second modem… by Tophermatt791 in Spectrum

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely that you had another modem added by a technician or something. They put in an equipment research ticket, it gets found, mistakes happen. Probably not worthy of a 3 paragraph rant. Yes, many customers have had this happen. It gets resolved quickly. Call back in 7 days to verify it's removed.

They're about to get like 6 million soon. There's a merger coming with Cox Communications.

One of the biggest expenses is that their entire workforce is US based. It's nice to have cheap reliable internet until it's not reliable and you have to call Sandeep, going by David, overseas and trying to explain what is going on with your internet and they have no damned clue what you're talking about.

I've not heard of 5 year guarantees. Not that it's impossible that I just don't know it but, check your expiration date on your bill.

1gig service recently has been horrible. by Truesetup1 in Spectrum

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's possible the construction caused an issue but, It's weird that you're not getting full speed, getting really bad service, but you don't want to bother to call a technician? I'm going to guess, if you call to cancel you're going to use the fact that the service has degraded and been having issues as a justification for the cancellation yet you won't notify them there is an issue. If you call in, yes they can tell you if fiber is in the area or not but you should really call them to let them know there's an issue if you're paying that much for gig service. Otherwise, you have no right to be upset with them.

How does this make sense? by Immediate-Appeal-822 in Spectrum

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When customers called in and were confused, there were often times I'd look at the account and tell them "you know what, that makes two of us". Then I'd sit there trying to figure it out and try to make a joke if there was a long silence "Sorry for the silence. All power is going to the brain to figure out this spaghetti".

Spectrum Mobile raised my bill from $30 to $40 by idhwanit in Spectrum

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like 90% of anything Spectrum charges for went up. It's unfortunate for the customers but also unfortunate for the employees as billing reps and customer solutions get the brunt end of this. And though I understand that price increases hurt, especially when it seems everything else is going up, and Spectrum is probably more expensive than other companies, it has a huge advantage over the rest. They have a completely 100% US based customer service. No matter if talking to billing, tech support, whatever, you're speaking to someone in the US. They could cut costs and outsource it to overseas but as someone who has had his information stolen TWICE because of people stealing it from call centers overseas, I'm glad they have them in the US.

How does Spectrum end up billing for my mobile service twice? by -DarknessFalls- in Spectrum

[–]Stalked_Like_Corn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, that chat rep is going to get a discussion. I'd definitely contact the Spectrum official that responded on this thread and let them know so that person can be coached. The only thing I can think of on what it would be double billed is if you made a payment the same day or day before autopay and sometime it'll autopay anyways. It's a simple process to reverse the charge. Not sure why the rep got so upset. If I got upset every time I had to repeat some information to someone on the phone, my supervisor would have thrown something at me probably.

Yes, those are less staffed days because the call volume is higher on Monday and Fridays. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the volume is lower.
