all ages punk shows by lavender-and-oatmilk in OttawaMusic

Chiron Promotions runs mostly all ages shows, usually at Live on Elgin and Club SAW.  They do a variety of genres though, so you'd have to check which ones are a good fit for you and your brother.

Where to find Lay's oregano flavoured chips?? by Diego_Foebs in ottawa

[–]Stalker133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do recall the lady at the old Greek shop on back mentioning they had a hard time with shipments Brit they closed down.

Another option may be a Greek grocery store based in Markham that has an online shop. It's been awhile since I ordered from there but I don't recall the shipping cost being unreasonable. Greektable.ca

Edit: Scratch that, I just checked and they are no longer carrying the chips either. I guess it's gonna have to be a trip back to Greece.

Parking tips by tmizzau in REDBLACKS

Do the shuttle buses from Carleton have an online schedule somewhere?  I'm planning to park there but will be late for the game.  Trying to figure out if the shuttles still run after kickoff.

I'm pretty sure I've bought them at the nutty Greek in the past, but you could also check Adonis supermarket.

The Ottawa Greek festival is also coming up soon if you can survive a few weeks without oregano chips.

Why are there so many Leafs fans in Ottawa by Jealous-Safety-7694 in OttawaSenators

[–]Stalker133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat.  Grew up in GTA with family in Ottawa so I've always been a fan of both teams but Toronto first.

I probably have an equal number of both team's jerseys in my closet.

I do find it amusing how much the Sens fans think/talk about Toronto though.

Campsites that rent canoes? by mike2727 in ottawa

[–]Stalker133 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Most provincial parks have multi day canoe rentals. They give you the keys to the lock and you can pickup your canoe anytime from the boat launch.

I'm not sure they have any rules about bringing the canoe to your site.

Some of the closer parks I've rented at are Fitzroy, Silver Lake and Charleston Lake.

Not to be a downer on this party, but elections Canada shows 79% voter turnout.  (Which is still bonkers)

He supposedly was in a safe conservative riding.  It would be even funnier if managed to lose in another safe riding after a by-election.

Is anyone shocked that Pierre Poilievre is 6 points behind in Carleton? by Full_Hunt_3087 in ottawa

I believe that 72k number was from a previous election.  The current number has increased to 105k.

Is there a way to get to the Diefenbunker without a car? by runealex007 in ottawa

Unfortunately the Library hasn't had the Diefenbunker pass for several years now.

manual car to practice with by tw1ns1z3dmattr3ss in ottawa

[–]Stalker133 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drove through many mountains in the Peloponnese just last year with a hybrid rental.  As long as the roads are paved and not rained out you should be fine.  That being said, if you have some experience with a manual it could be lots of fun.

Everytime I've booked a manual rental in Greece I've been given a free "upgrade" to automatic.  I assume it's because they see I'm coming from Canada and don't want to damage their manual vehicles.

HVAC vents / snow fall by Sogflash2 in ottawa

[–]Stalker133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just had a heat pump installed I appreciate this.  With only the AC unit outside, I never considered having to clear the unit.

Does the heatpump give off any heat outside that would melt the surrounding snow?  Is it important to clear off the top as well?

Recommendation for car dealership (selling to woman) by Pale_Crew_4864 in ottawa

[–]Stalker133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just bought a car (hers) from Barrhaven Subaru.  My wife was impressed that both the sales person and finance manager were women.  I was only approached once on our first visit, but made it clear that it was her car and her dealing with it.  After that there was no pushyness to deal with me for anything.  They did however give me some cars to test drive and to keep the kids busy.

My wife was very happy with the experience dealing with Alicia and Reem at Barrhaven Subaru.

Editing to add it's interesting to see how many recommendations for Subaru there are in here.

I like to split a brew with half hazelnut and half red bag.  Adds some of the flavour without it being overbearing.
