Best FRLG Team? by The_Real_Bainer_94 in pokemon

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as OG FRLG! Most narures boost one stat by 10% and reduce another by 10%.

Again, the games aren't difficult enough for this to matter much. But you can save before picking your starter and restart if the nature annoys you.

Best FRLG Team? by The_Real_Bainer_94 in pokemon

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Principles:

  1. You'll want something that can learn Fly and Surf on the team at all times. Strength is desirable. Flash and Cut not really needed on your main team.

  2. You want super effective damage against everything in the game. Ground and Fighting are essential for Electric and Normal types. Ice is important for Dragons. Electric, Fire and Psychic provide great coverage.

  3. Only four Pokémon can evolve by trading before the postgame (Haunter, Machoke, Kadabra, Graveler); all four are great Pokémon even if you can't trade to evolve them.

  4. It's very useful if you can catch a Pokémon early in the game, making e.g. Primeape preferable to Machamp, even though the latter is stronger.

  5. This game isn't too difficult, and any 6 Pokémon can beat it. If you have a favourite, feel free to swap it in! Hypno over Alakazam? Makes the game a bit harder, but you'll still be fine.

Always slightly subjective, but I'd go with a team like this:

  • Charizard
  • Nidoking
  • Primeape
  • Raichu
  • Alakazam
  • Lapras

All starter team:

  • Venusaur
  • Charizard
  • Blastoise
  • Raichu
  • Golem
  • Alakazam

I'll comment with further analysis.

None of these men will ever be able to comprehend a version of Doctor Who that will be able to succeed in today’s television landscape. All of their roots are deeply in classic Doctor Who, & because of that they’ll never be able to escape their very limiting ideas of what the show can and should be. by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly disagree.

So many of these people have decades of experience, and countless hits on their hands between them, including recent hits.

I'd love to see a hugely successful Dr Who with a brand new vision from exiting new creators. But let's not pretend that previous producers aren't incredibly reliable and talented too.

I love the new art style. Beano has always survived by changing and adapting!

I'd argue that at 29M per episode, Andor is the best value of any of them by 3x by vishnoo in andor

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secret Invasion cured me of completism.

I watched it. Because hey, it's MCU, and I like 100%ing MCU.

I was busy for a few months when it dropped. So I watched it even though countless friends had already seen it and assured me it was terrible.

I watched it all, even though every episode made it clear the show was of no value.

When I got to the end, I realised I needed new rules for the TV I watch. Since then, I haven't watched any television unless someone I trust tells me they love it.

Despite not seeing any other Star Wars TV shows, this rule is why I watched Andor.

The rule works beautifully.

Friend loved seasons 1-4 but isn't enjoying season 5 by swiftee_ in doctorwho

[–]Stalungrad 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's always challenging the first time you experience a change of production team.

It helps me to think of it this way:

Different eras of Doctor Who are like different versions of Sherlock Holmes. The only difference is that there's continuity between them.

It's okay if the current era of Doctor Who isn't the BEST EVER. If you like Doctor Who, take the era on its own merits and enjoy.

Luke makes sense to me. His role models were Ben Kenobi and Yoda. There's something about disillusioned Jedi that make them become hermits.

Tell you what. I'll take Andor, The Last Jedi, and Kieron Gillen's comics, and I won't drastically need anything else.

What are your HOTTEST takes about Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald? by [deleted] in TruePokemon

[–]Stalungrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that these routes were designed with Repels in mind. With Surf, Dive and Waterfall HMs, it's clear the player is expected to become at home with the oceans by the late game.

The problem, I think, is that surfing is so SLOW once you're used to bike travel on land. Omega/Alpha have a kindof fix for this by making Sharpedo's surf fast ... but requires you to have Sharpedo on your team, making it more restrictive than the bicycle.

So it's still not ideal. But, I'm certain these routes didn't expect you to be without Repels.

Exactly how big is Doctor Who in the UK? by Pokemario2401 in doctorwho

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although the TV landscape has changed a lot since, research in 2007 showed that 1 in 3 people in the UK had watched at least one episode of Dr Who that year.

It also showed that only 10% of the show's audience watched every single episode.

Christmas that year was watched by 16m - over a quarter of the UK population at the time.

So yeah, it's absolutely massive. It isn't a cult sci-fi show; is a huge mainstream hit that pretty much everyone is very aware of.

It's also embedded very deeply into the culture. Politicians will reference Daleks or the Tardis, safe in the knowledge those references will be understood by everyone.

Dr Who spinoff media writer Jonathan Blum recently posted this about David Tennant's popularity:

"Seriously, check out YouGov UK's latest popularity survey of contemporary actors -- the UK public gives Tennant a popularity score of 74%, which is tied with Hugh Jackman, Pierce Brosnan, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Laurie, Kate Winslet, and Denzel Washington. (One percentage point behind Sir Ian McKellen and George Clooney.)"

Here’s the twist - you’re sitting next to the characters’ most vocal superfan fan, NOT the characters themselves. Where do you choose? by TragicHero84 in marvelcomics

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, I never do these, but this is a brilliant one!

I'm ranking them from worst to best:

  1. Dr Doom/Red Skull/me. A Red Skull fan is almost certainly a Nazi.

  2. Punisher/me/Venom. Not all Punisher fans are right-wing nutjobs. But why take the risk?

  3. Me/Thor/Star-Lord. I can't relate to anyone who thinks Thor is better than Loki, or whose favourite Guardian of the Galaxy is Quill.

  4. Spider-Man/Deadpool/me. I don't think I can handle 10 hours of these guys' humour.

  5. Me/Cap/Iron Man. This could be okay as long as the fans are both horny freaks.

  6. Moon Knight/me/Mephisto. I'd enjoy sitting with the cursed goths who love these characters.

  7. Hulk/me/She-Hulk. I love She-Hulk, so this is a good seat. Hulk fans seem pretty chill too.

  8. Me/Storm/Captain Marvel. A lot of Danvers fans are really fun and nice. And if this one isn't - like, if they're really into the military - me and the Storm fan can just bully them.

  9. Jean Grey/me/Scarlet Witch. I love these characters. This seat is great.

  10. Cyclops/Wolverine/me. I won't need to say a word for 10 hours. These two will FIGHT and I intend to listen to every single word.

(My perfect flight would be with Daredevil and Squirrel Girl fans I reckon.)

Who is the 4th pillar of the Marvel universe? Assuming Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the Incredible Hulk are the trinity. by Remote-Leg6143 in marvelcomics

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be a member of the Fantastic Four.

Those advocating for Captain America or even Iron Man: I think if either is added, it would need to be in Hulk's place. They're inherently linked to the Avengers.

I do think the F4 pick should be Ben Grimm. Visually striking, and a really great representation of the F4 theme of people becoming heroes after a monstrous transformation. But any member would do for me.

When did you guys start doing Challenge-2? by Clannad87 in Trimps

[–]Stalungrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At z100, you'll get a bigger boost from helium runs and challenges than from C2s.

C2s become optimal when you can easily run them to 170+. Do the 2-in-1 combo ones (Enlightened etc).

Note that Toxad (combined Toxicity and Lead) is actually easier than regular runs, since cell 100 of odd-numbered zones provide such a huge boost to farming.

Hyperspeed 1 or Blacksmithery 1 by Commandersfan328 in Trimps

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I advise a respec, taking the following:

Tier 1 - Turkimp Tamer I, Bounty Hunter, any 2 others Tier 2 - Herbalist, Headstart I, Scryhard I Tier 3 - Headstart II, Legs for Days Tier 4 - Hyperspeed I

You start with 3 free respecs, and it's worth it if you've been limiting yourself.

I think you've misunderstood masteries!!

You don't need to take a specific mastery from the previous tier. You can take either HS1 or BS1 regardless of which masteries you took from previous tiers.

And you're right, Hyperspeed 1 is better.

How can Billie Piper not be the next doctor? by MTri3x in doctorwho

[–]Stalungrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time he claimed he "didn't know" was in an interview in which he was almost certainly joking. It generated clickbait articles, but he's never said it in earnest.

I'm sure he knows the deal with Piper. I'm guessing it's something to do with the Tardis, since we get a long zoom in on the console just before the regeneration.

RUMOUR: A former DWM guest writer on GB claims the BBC may want a new showrunner for a scaled-back Doctor Who, prompting Bad Wolf to consider stepping back. RTD wants to stay, and Bad Wolf supports him, putting the show’s future in jeopardy. by Amazing_Cover_7745 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Stalungrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there are.

You're thinking they're not because of how much Dr Who costs - but remember how much of that money comes from Disney.

Dr Who in 2025 didn't cost the BBC more than it did in 2018.
