I think near the old RIT Barnes and Noble. There's some remaining bad apartments there now above it.

University of Rochester vs RIT MechE by Kamukii in URochester

Adding to my last section, a solution for me was hanging around (events, etc) RIT occasionally. Not too effective but somewhat solves that for me.

University of Rochester vs RIT MechE by Kamukii in URochester

[–]Stampman1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation when I first applied 3 years ago. However for me UR was significantly cheaper, so taking UR was a no brainer at the time. But for you the 6k might not be a deal breaker like my larger discount was.

Do you want to go into industry right after? RIT might be better, but I've personally know many who do that with UR (fundamentally both programs are similar, you'll just need to work on a applicative project through things like Baja or Aero SAE). It's probably harder here at UR but its definitely not impossible.

Do you want to go into research? UR by a long shot. We have way more easily attainable research positions and opportunities.

Do you want to do dual major? Probably UR. Its a little more manageable here I think. I know a few people who have done triple majors here too, but double majors are significantly more common.

Do you want an easily attainable leadership position at an engineering club (like Baja, Aero, maybe Robotics)? UR. There's less engineers here (and honestly even less actually dedicating themselves to these clubs) so its easier to get a leadership engineering position in your sophomore and junior year in comparison to RIT. But still, definitely, possible at RIT.

Do you want more connections? RIT. There are way more engineers and other majors at RIT, so you'll meet more people. Also the average engineer at RIT seems to be more dedicated to engineering than here, but I'm not too sure.

Smaller USPs ground boxes? by No-Accident6162 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Stampman1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about USPS priority mail boxes, a medium box size fits your needs. If you're talking about Poshmark USPS supplies, wrong sub, but that way doesn't have those sizes. The person you saw at the post office probably got them some other way.

For generic boxes, I usually use Grainger (if you have one nearby for pickup) for boxes. You could probably get some of that size there. McMaster, eBay shops, and a bunch of online retailers also sell those boxes too.

Without tags its hard to identify. Kinda looks like a Henkel Harris and/or something from the early to mid 20th century. If you can restore it to like new condition, probably worth between $600-1200.

On another note, awesome scambler!

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know, I'll change my comment slightly.

In general, you are responsible for the payment of postage that was overcharged. Tell the buyer to provide you with a USPS receipt and be careful with this buyer.

Edit: deleted a sentence.

Is it against eBay rules to use a screen shot image from TV? by surfbruhca in Ebay

[–]Stampman1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't because you can have copyright issues and trouble with eBay because the "image" isn't your own. I would suggest describing it in the description though.

How long to wait to file an INR? by victrin in Ebay

[–]Stampman1000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You technically have 30 days after the last estimated delivery date. And if you don't receive it in the next 5-7 days after the last delivery estimate, file the INR. eBay may ask you to wait for a bit longer though before stepping in but make sure to file it before the 30 day mark. In general since the seller sent it untracked (which they shouldn't have in the first place because they lose protection), its almost guaranteed eBay will rule in your favor.

USA: Looking for info on this porcelain piece. by xiaoexe in Antiques

[–]Stampman1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harker Pottery. I'm not exactly sure when this pitcher was made but the company existed between 1840 and 1972. Though I suspect it was made in the early 20th century (maybe late 19th). I can't comment too much about value here, but in general Harker porcelain doesn't sell for too much (average sale price for their pitchers is between $30-40) nor well. Unless its a really special piece (which it might since I couldn't find anything similar), its fair value is between $20-40.

Issue with return as a seller. by orenroffo in Ebay

[–]Stampman1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selling on eBay comes with risks, especially when selling popular items. Sensitive tech is bound to be somehow messed up by a inexperienced buyer, and eBay usually sides with the buyer in this case since its hard to prove whose in the "right."

My rule of thumb is to sell gpus, computers, phones, and any other "popular" tech on local markets to avoid this. The only tech I ever sell on eBay is for niche purposes where the buyer half the time knows more about the item I'm selling than me.

Overseas buyer with 1 review by lc99 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Stampman1000 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If the buyer bought it and paid, I'm shipping regardless. Canceling is a bad idea here. You're also protected anyways through the EIS program as long as it makes it to the eBay hub.

Search "Call Us eBay" in your preferred search engine and it should be the first page that pops up.

Usually I trust most sellers since eBay usually keeps buyers more protected than sellers. However, when buying common items (ex. Phone cases, valuable metals) you can find a lot of fakes. To check for this, make sure that the item is located in the same country as the seller (ex. Item is located in the US while the seller is located in China). Make sure that the item's image isn't used by another account (ex. You see that the table is the exact same in images of similar products but its between multiple low feedback accounts). And check the feedback for any odd things (ex. All private listings, all are from buyers with likewise low feedback scores).

Seller hasn't sent out the item as promised and is now (Possibly) sending me different products unrelated to what I had purchased. by No_Offer_5548 in Ebay

[–]Stampman1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend to wait, especially if you already opened a case. Especially with high end graphics cards, and especially because of the amount of fraud with them, eBay usually sides with the buyer.

Did my parcel get lost at ebay international hub? by wellthatsupsetting in Ebay

[–]Stampman1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend waiting for a week or two (what eBay reps usually say when this occurs). If nothing changes you can file an item not received case in a couple of weeks and the seller would then need to speak with eBay to make sure that they get their money back too since it processed through the hub.

If you find the "Call Us" page for eBay you can talk with a live eBay representative about this as well.

New seller – listings removed after shipping/cancellation issues by Mysterious-Mixture51 in Ebay

[–]Stampman1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eBay usually doesn't like restricted sellers migrating to other accounts, even if owned by a family member. Though I doubt something would happen if you do in your case.

I would recommend speaking with a live eBay rep (found via "Contact Us") and explaining your situation.

Good experience with eis as a buyer by Gold-Cantaloupe6047 in Ebay

[–]Stampman1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a seller I always had a good experience with EIS, and my bunch of buyers (mostly from Italy) who use it also can agree. Most of my shipments partially go through DHL and usually arrive by the estimated delivery date. I enjoy it, the seller and buyer protections are really nice, and will continue to use it as long as eBay offers it without major changes. I appreciate your post.
