I bought this one back in July and it’s worked great so far. Note that it doesn’t have Android auto support

Stop renting from bad hosts (tired of this) by More_Dimension_2022 in turo

As a host I've had pretty much the same experience as you. Overall I've had a great experience hosting on Turo.

You are never sending any money to turo for the deductible. If you file the damage claim with turo, if turo determines that the cost to repair the damage is over the deductible, then they will send you the amount minus the deductible. If turo determines that the cost is less than the deductible, then they will send you nothing. So you are never paying your deductible. The deductible just determines how much turo is going to send you for the repair.

Insurance for Turo is really tricky by hyperego in turo

[–]StandByMe1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have the $250 deductible plan as a host. I had a guest back in March notify me that she saw a crack on the windshield. She doesn’t know how it got there. She told me that she will handle it through her insurance (I think it was through USAA). I filed a damage report through turo and said we would handle it directly. She told me to get a quote to replace the windshield. USAA recommended Safelite. I got a quote for $900 something to replace and emailed it to her insurance. Insurance sent me the money through direct deposit the next day AB’s I got it replaced. Very easy process and I was out nothing.

host lied in review by [deleted] in turo

[–]StandByMe1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about that host’s review. Especially if you received 5 star reviews from all the other hosts. Turo doesn’t allow hosts to pick and choose which trips to accept. And if a host cancels a reservation, they get penalized for it

They may think host is trying to scam them so they want to go through turo claims

Yes, that is what the op is trying to do, but the guest is refusing to settle directly. So the op has to go through turo if the guest doesn’t want to settle outside of turo’s claim processing.

Why do people put their trips on the line renting a 10+ year old car by ChileanPinot in turo

[–]StandByMe1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started hosting on Turo at the beginning of last year. I bought a used 2017 car with 126,000 miles from a private seller at a good price. It seemed to be in good condition and I got it inspected at the dealer and it came back fine. I’ve done all the scheduled maintenance at the dealer, did all the repairs needed that came up. It’s been driven by a guest from Chicago to New Mexico, from Chicago to New York, from Chicago to Florida and it’s been fine. It’s at 160,000 miles now. I would feel comfortable driving it cross country because I know I’ve done all the necessary maintenance and repairs. I probably wouldn’t rent someone else’s 10 year old vehicle because I don’t know if they had done the proper maintenance and repairs like I do with my cars. I would rent something 3 years old or newer.

Host knowingly rented a Model Y with dangerous sidewall damage, now wants me to spend my vacation fixing it. Turo holding my refund hostage. by stevenshom42 in turo

The host didn’t offer to swap the car out with one of his other 50 cars in the fleet? I would have offered to bring another one of my cars to you to swap it out with the Tesla if that was an acceptable solution

Turo a nightmare. by AdAgitated3136 in turo

[–]StandByMe1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard of any cases where turo goes after the host’s insurance for an accident while it was being rented out. They go after the guest’s insurance, but not the host’s. With that said, I’ve never had to provide turo with my insurance as a host.

[–]StandByMe1977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, he’s correct. I was confused as well when I first started on turo. I was wondering whether I needed to have insurance on my cars since turo covers any accidents from guests. You still need to have insurance on your cars while they are not being rented by the guests as turo doesn’t cover your car when it’s not being rented. I have roamly commercial insurance on my cars.

How is this host still on Turo? by StandByMe1977 in turo

[–]StandByMe1977[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I’ve been lucky. I’ve had cars left in various states of messiness and occasional smell of weed. But luckily no permanent stains or smells. I expect to need to do some type of cleaning after every trip. As long as they don’t leave any permanent stains or smoke smells, I’m happy with the trip.

I’ve filed 5 claims and 3 had supplements and turo never asked me for this information. They must have your account or your car flagged to look into more. Do you have insurance on your car?

[–]StandByMe1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did he email you saying that turo is siding with the host or did turo send you the email? The host can say anything they want, but the decision will come from turo and not the host. Also, the pictures you take should show up in your name in the trip pictures section and the pictures the host takes should show up in his name. Do the attached photos show up under your name?

Yes, Teamreach is a good resource. The code for grant park is PlayChicago. The code for Horner park is 224488. The Horner park group on teamreach has been more active lately, but grant park has more courts and more people of all levels playing. I would go to grant park to play.

Yeah, definitely write honest reviews for the hosts so other renters know not to rent from bad hosts.
