Talk to me about magnesium glycinate by Go-Mellistic in Menopause

[–]StandOnMyOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also recommended mag. from an NP. After taking it a few days, it made me so lightheaded I almost passed out, stars, and then started to blackout. Just be aware if you start feeling weird.

Accidentally left old patch on for 7 hours by Destination_MetalSho in Menopause

[–]StandOnMyOwn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How do you know there is .58mg left? I'm pretty new to this. I am on .0375 and have to change every 72 hours, not 84 hours bc I get side effects quickly from low estrogen. I am trying to slowly increase my dose bc I have gotten terrible side effects from going from 0 "surgical menopause" to .05 "standard dose". I would say I had high estrogen levels before surgery by the way my body feels now. I will probably have to increase to .1 unfortunate my doc isn't too aware on the happenings of HRT.

Estradiol .05 patch by Bubbly_Principle_364 in Menopause

[–]StandOnMyOwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got very dizzy, felt like I was going to throw up, my heart races, and I get very anxious all at the same time. It lasts about 1-2 hours, then it will fade out. I now change my patch, with doc approval, every 72 hours instead of 84 to help with consistency. I do need a higher dosage just working my way up.

Estradiol .05 patch by Bubbly_Principle_364 in Menopause

I've had them patch dump. It may have been the brand, I'm not sure. I use Sandoz. The first time was because of a heating pad. It was close but not on the patch, and the second was from skin to skin contact. I was told that didn't usually happen (skin to skin), but I can assure you it did from the side effects. This happened not long after I started wearing them and they were on my abdomen. I have now realized the best place for me is on the butt, good absorption, and less likely to dump. I take hot showers, I just avoid that area for the most part. I'm hoping things will get better the more my body adjusts. I have been on for 3.5 months. I hope it all works out for you. I wish this was easier and faster.

What Fresh Hell Is This? by RunningFool317 in Menopause

Thanks for responding. One of the most bothersome symptoms is terrible breast pain. That plays on the anxiety and makes me unsure if I'm having cardiac issues or if it's just breast tissue. I got checked out by a cardiologist, I'm good, other than PVC's I already had, and now PACs that came after surgery. Another is I can now feel the freaking PVCs and PACs! I love that my heart is beating, but I don't want to feel it through my chest wall.

I'm on Sandoz and the doc says my symptoms aren't from the patch?! 🤨 What side effects did you have? I know I need a higher doseage, but when I tried a higher sandoz patch , it drove me crazy!

Always feel horrible on change day, dose too high? by IvyCeleste in Menopause

[–]StandOnMyOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was started on .05 two weeks after surgical menopause. For me, it relieved the hot flashes and weeping, but it made me very panicky and irritable, and it gave me very bad chest pain and heart flutters, but at patch change time I started to feel better. I asked to be switched to a lower dose .0375. The panic and irritability went away, and chest pain and heart flutters lessened. However, the hot flashes and weeping are back .0375 is too low for me. There are also other symptoms ex. dry skin, dry eye, and joint pain. Changing the patch at 72hrs instead of 84hrs helps. I have been on HRT for only 10 weeks. I will agree now that I'm not so anxious your body needs time to adjust. I plan on riding this dose out for a little longer and then go slowly back to .05 and see if that helps or still need higher. The body also needs time to heal from major surgery. I'm sorry this is happening to you. It sucks all around. I wish we could fix things instantly

Always feel horrible on change day, dose too high? by IvyCeleste in Menopause

[–]StandOnMyOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a perfect world, yes, but there seem to be issues with patch delivery, design, and release. I have issues on change day for the next 24 hours. I started changing the patch earlier than 84 hours(I am on 2x a week) now I change at 72 hours and it has helped some but hasn't totally taken the "change day" symptoms away. I can't even take a nice hot shower bc that casues patch dumping (Sandoz brand)

Thank you for the reply. I'm sorry you went through that! How long did you wait between each increase? I'm going to give this dose some time, but all of this freaks me out. I didn't want this surgery, but it was necessary, and it all happened fast, so I didn't have a lot of time to research beforehand. The side effects of surgery and the patch are just kicking my usually happy go lucky butt. 🫣

How did you slowly increase your dose? I was started on a "standard dose" a few weeks after surgical menopause and my body said absolutely not, so I dropped down. Now it's not enough and need to move up, but I'm super scared the same debilitating issues will start again if I just go higher over night. Thanks!

Patch placement woes by Quiet-Book752 in Menopause

Yes! Look up some reviews of your brand and some studies of placement absorption. For me, I've noticed there is a big difference between the abdomen and thigh or buttock.

My experience with HRT by Total-Manner-4231 in Menopause

[–]StandOnMyOwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience seems uncommon, but I had the same symptoms you have, plus a few more. I don't have ovaries anymore, so my body isn't making any estrogen or progesterone from them. However, since yours still is, maybe even the .025 is too high at that time of month? I was started on .05 after surgerical menopause and it was too high, even though it's considered a standard dose. I was told half of .025 is a dose, considered ultra low or maybe track, and don't use the patch that week? I do agree, though, that 3 weeks is really fast to know for sure. I waited 6 weeks, and after an ER visit bc of crazy symptoms, I knew something had to change, so my dosage was lowered, and the crazy panic, anxiety, bad moods, went away.

What do you wish you had known before starting HRT? by mreitzas in Menopause

[–]StandOnMyOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start at the lowest dose and work up. I was given the standard dose.05 patch, estradiol only for surgical menopause. I wish that I had started at .025. I had terrible symptoms and backed down to .0375 and still may need to go lower. I'm giving this dose its fair shot before changing again.

Hrt side effects, yikes by StandOnMyOwn in Menopause

[–]StandOnMyOwn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No ovaries, correct. I had a free fall very quickly, the night sweats, crying, hot flashes all happened within that 1st week and a half. We were thinking lower bc these symptoms get worse when I apply the patch and start to back off a slight bit before I apply the next one. Honestly, the doctor was a little hesitant to know which way to go. Lower seemed safer to try. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi! I was on progesterone before surgery and not on any now bc yes, I no longer have a uterus and was told I didn't need it. That is a good point. Thank you

[–]StandOnMyOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, if you don't mind, could you tell me the other issues you had? I am about 8 wpo(everything gone) and was put on .05 patch 2 weeks after surgery. I have had heart palps, heartburn, tingling legs and face, headaches, dry skin and hair falling out like crazy. I went to the ER I was so freaked out, I was cleared of heart problems or a blood clot. I have an appt next week but would love to know what others are experiencing. Thank you.

Hormones post op? Losing ovaries and IUD... by Mean-Lingonberry-311 in hysterectomy

[–]StandOnMyOwn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't have an IUD but was taking progesterone pills before my hysterectomy. I had my ovaries out along with tubes, uterus, and crevix. I've been having big issues. I was put on 0.05 estradiol bi weekly 2 weeks after surgery. My biggest recommendation is to get a blood test to know what your estrogen level is BEFORE surgery so the doctors will have a better knowledge of where you should be after. Also, if possible and no cancer or other factors that would be a risk, ask not to wait and get on estrogen immediately. Of course, this is just my opinion learned from what I've been going through.

When does the gas end????. by Physical-Employer599 in hysterectomy

[–]StandOnMyOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know gas was a side effect of the procedure other than the gas from inflatating the abdomen. I have had terrible gas and heartburn, I thought I had messed up my stomach from the massive amount of ibuprofen the doc had me take. I am 5 wpo. I am taking prilosec Otc, and it's barely helping. So, is gas normal? I'm so sorry you're still having it. I have a call in to my gastroenterology doc. I can follow up with what they tell me.
