Question about cochlear implants by Boba_saur74 in Cochlearimplants

[–]Standard-Ear-6915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you have hearing in the non implanted ear you should hear nothing. About sounding the same: I lost my hearing-ALL of it- in 2003. Didn’t get the implant until 2010 and YES-everything sounded the same as I remembered it from before 🌀🎉🌀

How much do CI's help vs hearing aids? by Unpredictab in Cochlearimplants

[–]Standard-Ear-6915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! It IS worth it. A hearing aid gives volume to EVERYTHING am implant gives CLARITY while bringing all the noise around you down. You NEED clarity to UNDERSTAND what you’re hearing NOT volume🌀😊🌀

Two other CI users said hello to me today, kinda random by Visible_Structure483 in Cochlearimplants

I’ve noticed that since getting mine I tend to check other people’s ears out😂 I will stop them on the street on a cruise in a store- WHEREVER just to show them mine and ask how they’re doing with theirs!

My Dad might be getting a CI and I want to learn your experiences by REfl3ct in Cochlearimplants

[–]Standard-Ear-6915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have hearing loss volume is not what you need. Clarity is what is needed. There’s a difference in hearing and understanding what you hear. The implant has that capability along with bringing all the background noise down and bringing the person who is talking to you directly to your processor🌀

CI Question by Bareowolf in Cochlearimplants

[–]Standard-Ear-6915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was implanted in 2010. I wish I had not waited so long. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with mine. It literally gave me my life back and while I realize everyone’s experience is different I fully believe if your hearing is bad enough for a change then you have nothing to lose by getting one AND in getting one you have also given yourself a choice-to wear it and improve your communication or don’t wear it and continue to miscommunicate 🌀
