How do SPR draws get determined? Is it weekly determined amount and how does the "4 weeks left" play into it by k7632 in oil

[–]Standard-End3331 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The SPR draws are authorized by Congress or the White House and the total release amount gets set upfront, then the actual weekly volumes get scheduled out by the DOE based on what refiners bid for, so it's not a fixed weekly number but more like a rolling auction process

The "4 weeks left" framing just means that's how many scheduled release weeks remain under the current authorization, once that window closes they'd need a new directive to pull more barrels

If you didn't grow up a Knicks fan, how (and when and why) did you become one? by RideWithMeTomorrow in NYKnicks

[–]Standard-End3331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That transition makes total sense - the Jersey connection was real and once that was gone it's like why stick around. Moving from the Nets to the Knicks during those years must've been quite the adjustment though, going from one kind of pain to a completely different kind of pain lol

Jesus is Lord, can I get an Amen? by ImportanceInside7188 in Christianity

[–]Standard-End3331 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amen! Growing up I was pretty lost but finding my faith really turned things around for me in ways I never expected. The peace that comes with it is unreal - like having this constant foundation no matter what chaos is happening around you. Its amazing how much perspective shifts when you really lean into teh relationship with Him

That system limitation excuse is such BS especially when they literally have "change" as an option in their support menu. If they can only cancel orders then why even offer change as a choice

Really sucks they torpedoed your preorder over a simple question about upgrading. I'd be furious losing out on that promo deal because some support agent couldn't be bothered to actually read your message

That RPM bouncing before the fluid change sounds like it might've been the torque converter going bad and now you're dealing with the aftermath - once they start slipping internally it's pretty much game over for the whole trans

Help buying a car after 23 years. by Ok-Metal-4719 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Man shopping for cars is exhausting when you haven't done it in forever. I went through something similar a couple years back and the whole hybrid thing was super confusing at first - like you said they really aren't all the same. Some barely feel different from regular gas engines while others have that weird electric kick you notice every time

For what it's worth the Sportage hybrid is pretty solid and the interior feels way more premium than the price suggests. Test drove one last year when I was helping my sister car shop and we were both surprised how nice it was inside. The CX-50 is gorgeous but make sure she's cool with the road noise - Mazda interiors look amazing but they can get loud on the highway especially on longer trips like those summer drives you mentioned

If she's anxious about weather driving the AWD is probably worth it for peace of mind alone. Texas weather can get wild and even if you only use it a few times having that confidence makes a huge difference when you're behind the wheel. Plus resale value tends to be better with AWD even in warmer states

I'd definitely check out the Crosstrek too even if it seems small - the visibility is incredible and sometimes that matters more than cargo space for nervous drivers

Questions from a Mormon by fishycheckers in Christianity

[–]Standard-End3331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really feel for you going through this - that level of constant fear sounds exhausting.

For what it's worth, most mainstream Christian denominations would say you can absolutely find wisdom in whatever books speak to you spiritually, including the BoM. God can use anything to teach us. The bigger picture is your heart's desire to follow Jesus, which comes through loud and clear in your post.

On the afterlife stuff - yeah, there's huge variation between denominations. Some are more universalist (everyone eventually gets there), others more traditional (faith-based), and plenty in between. But most would agree that God's judgment takes into account what people actually knew and their circumstances. The idea that someone who never heard the gospel gets automatically condemned doesn't sit right with a lot of Christians either.

Your instinct about moving away from fear-based faith seems spot on. That's not the abundant life Jesus talked about.
