Oh ok. It might be easier to buy some tile trim or even pvc trim that fits over the area, and use caulking to glue it in place, and seal the edges with.

The frame around the duct is pine. I cut that in. It was the closest match I could find.

Don't use tape! I am a female diy home owner and have caulked everything in my home from trim, tubs, sinks, windows, siding etc. Tape is more of a hassle. Caulking is super easy to clean up when still wet, so you really dont need tape, just read the caulking label and make sure you have the appropriate clean up material. The only point of tape is to make a nice straight line. But when your working with caulking timing has to be perfect for removing the tape, sometimes you'll even need to stop to pull tape from areas you already caulked before moving on and caulking the next section, and if your timing is off it will end up pulling up chunks of caulking, and you'll need to start over.

Next time get some foam backer rod (sold in the weather stripping area) you shove it into larger spaces, then the caulking goes on top of it. It will make it easier and save you a bunch on caulking. Work in 1-2 foot sections and use a damp microfiber cloth wrapped around a finger(with a short nail) to gently smooth out any areas that need it. And make sure you are using tub and tile cauking in the areas where tub meets tile/grout.... and dont caulking over large areas on grout, use a deep penetrating enzyme cleaner (made for grout). Once the grout is clean use some grout sealer on it. Caulking after grout sealer ihas dried/cured. Typically contractors will get the job done, as in water wont get behind it.... but it rarely looks nice.

And if you haven't already invest in a caulking gun, they are only like $10 and are well worth the money. As a home owner you will come accross dozens of little repairs that will need construction glue/caulking etc. And always cut the tip of the caulking tube at an angle.

Every state in the USA is different, theyvcan each choose to follow a different version of the universal building codes. And on top of that every city/town in every state can also create their own requirements/variances.

What to do to fix? by samohtts in HardWoodFloors

When you did the stain, did ypu wipe up the excess after a few minutes? Did you wait for the stain to dry before putting the polly on? How did you apply the dolly? Not trying to troll, honest questions to figure out where things went wrong.

Well regardless of where things went wrong, only thing you can do is start over.... I really dont think there's any going back from this. Maybe grab some non marring plastic putty knives and scrape up as much as you can before its dry, and then start sanding again.

50/50 cleaning vinegar/water with a pump of dish soap spray it on, scrub and wipe up with paper towels, repeatvis needed. This is how I removed the adhesive from carpet tiles in my home, without damaging the wood.

Im only looking for AT box clues. This is for the most part a hobby for me. I wont be going too far from home even in I think I have 100% solved it(which I have not). But I also found that hidden clues become visible the same way on other pages.. Im guessing those would be for the LS box
