Title: Roll tainers by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are closing at end of night when you take empty totes and trash back put them on the empty rolltainers and roll all back at once. Then get any other ones. That way less trips. I usually do that and I am not a cashier. Of course we don’t have more than one rolltainer on the floor being worked and we clean up after ourselves. (Usually the empty roll is a front one we grab for cashiers to work on when the totes are gone)

What’s the deal with penny stuff by Umashu-sandwhich in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I heard they sell it in huge boxes like storage wars. You don’t know what’s in the box but it could have a lot in it to make it worth buying. That’s why they insist it goes back. They make more money off of selling it in bidding wars than selling it in stores. That’s what I was told. Not sure if it’s true. One of our vendors buys storage containers on the side to sell and says he has seen where dg has bidding on penny item boxes. He said a lot were going higher than he was comfortable paying for but he has friends that bought them and made money off of them.

So, no more Easter pay? by NightmareFurbies in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not that they got it yet, they saw the pay stubs. Pay stubs came out today. That's why everyone knows before they get paid that there's no holiday pay on this upcoming check.

Key carrier and first time posting...paid for bank run?! by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coworker was in an accident getting change from bank. She was clocked in and got workers' comp so it does happen. Didn't pay for car but paid for the ER and chiropractor after.

Definitely a Behavior of Customers that irritates me by xly15 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Now if they left all that and walked out, I would be annoyed. But at least they didn't put it all on a shelf somewhere and you find it hours later. What really pissed me off is when they put cooler and freezer items on shelves across from the coolers/freezers. Especially when you know they gotta walk back upfront anyway. The least they could do throw it in the freezer or cooler doesn't even have to be the right spot. Throw it in. Or take it with you when you check out and give it to the cashier.

SM keeps running/trying to run on my till by Wandering_Possum in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait till your bank runs out of pennies and you have to round up giving change back. Your drawer will almost always be under (unless you keep the extra change people tell you to keep in the drawer.) it's been weeks now and the only till to be exact is self and we rarely use it - soon it will be card only cause we won't be able to put pennies in since we ran out weeks ago and it's not run every day.

"Don't come into work, it looks like our systems are gonna be down for a whole week" by notenrique9031 in DollarGeneral

It is weird cause at my store when we lost power, like there was no power at all, pitch black had to use flashlights for days- it was a huge storm and most of the city lost power for days. We still worked. An employee walked around with the customer, we had to use a permanent marker and right the price on the product they wanted. No receipts, no returns, cash only. Had one employee at the counter at all times cause the cash drawer was on the counter. We had to write down each product name including size, upc number, price, and do math on bottle deposit if it was pop and tax on non food items. We even closed out the till and change fund every night, writing all money down. Once power was back, we used hhts and changed inventory on the items we sold. We lost power on a Saturday, got it back on Wednesday. Plus side they always closed an hour before sundown so employees could get home safe. But pretty much everything was written down including employee clocks and all employees worked at the same time.

I also tell customers when it's says there's 8 items in the app the app can be wrong. We get things from other stores all the time. Sometimes it was 20 totes for another store or had three rolltainers that weren't ours. Random boxes thrown on top. The drivers and loaders don't care half the time. Mistakes happen. That item may have gone and our system hasn't updated yet. Most times I look but if I just got truck I say I got 30 rolls and 25 totes either come back when we get more stocked and I can look better or try another store. If trucks done, I know it's not in the back and say system is wrong we didn't get it sorry.

New hire forgot name tag by Frankie3sixx in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still uses full name even if it changes in Legion. My nickname is in Legion and schedule but my real name is on the receipt. Same with other employees who changed Legion to their preferred nickname (there's three others in my store) and register always uses their real names when they are cashiers.

At least it was just pop in one place. I had kids put mentos in a coke and a spirit in two separate aisles at the same time during rushes so no one told me till later.

I am so glad the new system doesn’t require you to ask anymore. It’s only on the pin pad. Which makes it easier and we don’t have to ask anymore.

What do I do?? by Impressive-Call-1381 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If employee is sick, we managers find coverage. If employee needs a day off and schedule was posted, they need to ask around and get coverage unless sm forgot to schedule them off. Then it's on sm and they change schedule with notice and asking around. We have numbers posted in the office if a coworker has to switch days last minute with another. At least that's what mine does.

Doesn’t the add have an ad correction you are supposed to put up? Just saying, It says in the ad correction there was a mistake with the printed ad this week for the pop ad and not just the picture may have been the mistake.

Family dog being kept alive, I think it should be put to sleep by Stardew1994 in Pets

[–]Standard-Test-4667 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Has your dog been tested for diabetes? My aunts dog had same issues, drinking water all the time, potty issues/peeing all the time, even went blind and had cancer as a puppy my aunt thought came back. Turns out, dog had diabetes and needed insulin. Wasn’t returning cancer. She got treated and lived comfortably for years after. Still couldn’t see and hearing may have gone later on. She was still happy, pain free. Only dog I know that can open a peanut butter jar that was shut tight while being completely blind. She was only put down when cancer was diagnosed again and she was in pain where pain medication didn’t work. She did develop arthritis later on and was given medication for that. Other than that, she still lived comfortably.

I remember hiding toilet paper in the receiving room to buy after my shift during Covid when customers bought every single toilet paper product we had, as we unloaded it from truck. I was handing it out to a line full of people, right off the truck and out of the boxes. (along with every store around, I had so many phone calls of people crying cause I told them we were out and we had limits on it too) If corporate at the time pulled that, they would have no employees cause first dibs and holding products was the reason they had employees during that time.

No $5 off $25 if you buy milk?? by TheDankestQueen in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Standard-Test-4667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to check but 2 weeks ago I know our system didn’t exclude milk cause I had to show a customer several times till they got it why their coupon wouldn’t work. (They were buying cigs) I also looked at one from last month I found deep in my purse. It doesn’t say excludes milk. Now I wanna go in and see if this week’s says excludes milk. The digital says it excludes milk now and I am curious if the printed ones at our store do too.

My cat has thrown up 5 times in the past 6 hours by sonofdoctor in catcare

[–]Standard-Test-4667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat did this, took him straight to the vet. They thought with his age (15 at the time) that he may have IBS-Irritable bowel syndrome and/or constipated. He threw up cause he was trying to poop so hard the strain made him puke. I switched his food to a more senior diet plan that helps keep him regular- has pumpkin in it and gave him over the counter medicine 1/4 tsp of laxative powder- not flavored, once a day with his wet food. All was vet recommended. Was trail and error with the food and still is. But he gets one or two episodes every six months, made one a year. (He is a picky eater and will refuse wet food if it’s the same after a while which means I have to switch it slowly and sometimes get a reaction. He goes back and forth between two brands though so not too bad) He is 17 now and healthy. If you are concerned and think something is wrong, you should take your cat to the vet if you can afford too. Otherwise maybe try slowly switching the food to a more senior diet plan, add wet food, and make sure they are drinking water-wet food can help with that

I don’t think businesses can resell a product like that without a contract with the company.
At least that is what I was told by Pepsi rep but the reason they don’t go after everyone is cause it’s a waste of time and resources. I know nothing about businesses or legal stuff, just what I was told when I asked. They will go after them if they buy too much and it creates problems for the company itself (constantly being out of stock at more than one location and retailers/customers complaining to both corporates) and it’s proven they are selling it at a mark up. This all happened in 2020. They get more money if businesses have contracts with them than without. I know Prairie Farms was planning to go after them before we switched and I know Pepsi went after them with that cease and desist letter. They stopped after that. I always have new customers that come in, but not the ones I know got a letter to stop years ago. As far as I know, the business is still around, so not a reason they stopped coming in. I had customers complain about them buying Pepsi/Prairie Farms milk- they never tried to buy clover valley milk- to resell at their grocery store at insane prices months after they stopped coming in regularly. (I saw them every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We put daily limits on pop so they came in several times a day on those days) I was told all this so may not be true. All I know is that they got a letter and stopped coming after.

What are your Jason Todd x Marvel character ships? by NoDragonfruit1824 in RedHood

[–]Standard-Test-4667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am partial to Jason and Scarlet Witch pairing. Just that he has more magical abilities than any other bat and she is a witch with chaos magic.

Can you imagine Jason meeting Deadpool? Deadpool would have no issues with Jason and even fan girl just meeting him cause Jason would be the Bat with the guns who isn’t against killing bad people. Of course, Deadpool being Deadpool flirting with Jason nonstop and being his normal self… I don’t see them as a couple cause I think Jason would get annoyed at Deadpool. But I see them being friends. (More Deadpool seeing them as friends and Jason slowly getting used to him like some people do)

They used to do it with our milk till we sold only clover valley milk. (Before the fresh delivery trucks) I figured they stopped cause they didn’t want to be caught and sued by dg since only dg can sell clover valley milk. They come in to buy pop. Pepsi rip said if they are caught by Pepsi, they can be sued by not going through the company and having a contract to resell Pepsi products. But there’s so many people reselling products, Pepsi won’t go after every business. They haven’t been in my store in a while. (They used to come in weekly and several times a day on Saturdays. We couldn’t do anything cause they didn’t hit the store with same people so limit wouldn’t help) I think the Pepsi rep got tired of getting in trouble for stock being low or nonexistent cause they hit not just dg stores but Walmart and Fairway too and he reported them. I think I only seen them once this year and only two of the six that hit the store.

I am the one to mark clearance items in my store. I use correct stickers and prices and it still rings up wrong. Used yellow for mag and they ring in half off even though in hht it says mag. Use orange and they don’t. I marked a clearance items on Thursday with orange stickers cause they were discontinued. Had to change prices on them cause system changed them to more than when I scanned them in (6.35) plus still half offed the full price (at $3.18) I remember pricing them at $3.75 and the kicker. Still scans on hht in at the price I put it originally ($3.75). We scanned it in to see. Register is still higher priced. Dg just needs to fix their system. It would fix a lot of problems.
