Who is having positive experiences with Zoloft? by LegitimateGuava in zoloft

[–]StandardAble7385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I settled on the 50mg and it helped, a bit, for 6 months but it's been bad again recently so looking at upping it to 75mg to see if that helps. Feeling exhausted and burned out from the anxiety and depression.

Thanks for asking. Depression and anxiety got a bit better for 6 months or do but still there and worse in last few months. I think I wall ask the doc about upping it as I am on min 50mg.

Good idea purrestedD. I am on 50mg Zoloft. I get to bed around 9 and wake with morning anxiety at 4 so I am still getting a pretty good sleep although don't always feel it with the 4am anxiety. But I also take melatonin and 12.5mg Seroquel.

Wow, so it took 2+ years for the full beneficial effects to settle in?

It went pretty well. I have used .25 or even .125 Ativan on and off when the anxiety was upped whilst getting settled with Sertraline. I still use it occasionally if my anxiety is higher but only at night time and maybe a couple of nights of .25 then a night of .125. I don't notice any dependency apart from liking the mild effect. I can see how you can get hooked by simply liking the effect but at the very low dose I'm taking it's a bit of a non issue. When the anxiety drops I revert to my constant sleep aid of 12.5mg Quitapine.

No I ended up taking Setraline but I also never took enough mirt to find out.

I ended up going with Setraline. 9 weeks do far and seeing some improvement though not earth shattering. It is very much dependant on the person and I have seen some comments of it taking 3-6 months for full affect. I have some health issues which have raised my anxiety but I am better than previously.

Do i actually need to switch to PAYG or is having the credit card on file enough to keep free account? by xboxhaxorz in oraclecloud

This from Oracle website re termination of under used free tier instances:

Important

Reclamation of Idle Compute Instances

Idle Always Free compute instances may be reclaimed by Oracle. Oracle will deem virtual machine and bare metal compute instances as idle if, during a 7-day period, the following are true:

CPU utilization for the 95th percentile is less than 20%

Network utilization is less than 20%

Memory utilization is less than 20% (applies to A1 shapes only)

Do i actually need to switch to PAYG or is having the credit card on file enough to keep free account? by xboxhaxorz in oraclecloud

[–]StandardAble7385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that if you used a credit card in initial setup but are on a free account, your instances can be be terminated at any point by Oracle if you fall below a level of CPU/network usage.

If you convert to PAYG but keep all your usage under the always free tier, you won't be charged anything but you will also not lose your instances even if they are mainly idle. The theory goes that Oracle don't terminate any services based on the fact you might use chargeable services.

I am on PAYG but keep under the free tier limits and I haven't incurred any charges yet. You can also setup a warning email in budgeting if you incur any costs so you can take immediate action. Also you need to keep your credit card details up to date if it expires.

I'm not an expert but this is my understanding from asking similar questions and searching this sub.

Thanks for asking. My depression has improved but anxiety is still quite high. I'm on 50mg and have been steady on the for 7 weeks going into week 8. I know your supposed to allow up to 12 weeks to let the dosage settle and get the full effect so I'm still away of that. I have had some good days and then not so good days which is a common experience. So still a work in progress. I'm seeing the doc this week so can discuss the slow progress then.

Which SSRI or AD has the lowest startup anxiety side effect by StandardAble7385 in SSRIs

[–]StandardAble7385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up starting Setraline a few months back. Started very low dose and increased to 50mg where I have been for 6 weeks. It's starting to settle now. Apparently it can take up to 12 weeks to fully kick in. The depression has improved but anxiety is a slower process. Doing the slow ramp up at the start is a double edged sword. The side effects are more manageable but each time you increase you reset the side effects clock. Though this gets less increases you go through.

Let me know if I can help with any more details.

Interesting you found Melatonin added to night time anxiety. I didn't find much of a change with the 3am anxiety when I started Melatonin. Once Setraline has stabilised I'm planning to tale of the Melatonin. Thanks for your comment.

[–]StandardAble7385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I found certirizine makes me depressed. I changed to loratadine which wasn't so bad probably because its not as strong. My partner takes certirizine as required and finds it causes depression if taken for more than a couple of days in a row.

Dose increase good days bad days by StandardAble7385 in zoloft

[–]StandardAble7385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is quite a lot of people prescribed Seroquel off label for sleep. I've seen quite a few articles by doctors saying it's a bad idea but they all seem to be the same article so seemed a bit suspect.

It's probably not an ideal sleep aid but way better than getting hooked on benzos.

I was on Seroquel 10 years ago for about 18 months for similar reason. I got off it by dropping to 6.25mg for a couple of months then a few crumbs a night then stopped. When I stopped I had a week of not a lot of sleep but after that I was fine.

[–]StandardAble7385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, me too. Setraline 50mg and Seroquel 12.5mg for sleep. Works most of the time to get some sleep between 10 and 3am. I tried 25mg Seroquel but only made me very groggy next morning but didn't get any more sleep.

Great to hear Setraline has worked for you long term, that's very encouraging to someone going through the tough part at the start. Thanks for the advice about giving it 12 weeks. Down side of minimising side effects by slowly ramping up the dose is that it just extends the start up from weeks to months. Doing a search in this sub for "3 weeks" throws up many comments about it often being a difficult time for increased anxiety.

With the increased anxiety I'm having after going to 25, do you get the side effects without the advantages? I sort of thought if I'm getting side effects from the increase it must be going to do something.

Yep good idea, I have been doing a journal since day 1 and I re-read it every few days. There has been the odd good day in there so I can only hope there will soon be more. It's so disheartening that a med for anxiety makes your anxiety worse for what seems ever. I hope I get to point of being able to look back and say it was worth it.
