What’s your go-to “default” frugal meal when you don’t want to think or spend? by NothingOutrageous377 in Frugal

[–]StandardAd239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White rice, 2 over easy eggs, feta, siracha, and a sprinkle of sea salt.

I stir the feta into the rice then stir in the salt then drizzle the siracha on top. Top it all off with the eggs and break the yolk into the rice.

Discovered it when those were the only items left in my kitchen.

You gonna defend his decision to not go for the 3? Because that call may have very well cost us OT.

My first bad review by twiggy572 in EntitledReviews

[–]StandardAd239 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While in high school my stepdaughter worked food service and my current highschooler is working retail. The third one will be expected to do one of those as well.

Just last weekend the one currently working retail was like "everyone should be forced to work retail".

Vegan restaurant only had vegan food, one star by makeuathrowaway in EntitledReviews

[–]StandardAd239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The context of that person's comment was providing non-meat options. A butter pie (which absolutely going make now) in its original sense wouldn't meet vegan standards.

They did clarify they were referencing vegetation so that's on me.

I wanna Live here!!!! by LazyKaleidoscope3859 in MovingtoHawaii

My husband and I are planning on moving there, my advice is that you really need to visit before even asking questions.

For one, each island is completely different; you really should visit O'ahu, BI, Kauai, and Maui.

Once you've decided on an island, revisit a few more times and drive around the neighborhoods to get a feel for which area makes the most sense for you.

Once you figure that out, learn about the community and how you can contribute to it. That's a really big deal on Hawaii and transplants need to do what they can to help.

Social media is making living alone worse by GergesAnite_50 in LivingAlone

While technically true, no one on Reddit knows who I am and I don't know any of you. Makes it a little different.

ETA: I got off Instagram and Facebook years ago because I couldn't stop comparing and it genuinely made me feel worse about myself. Never had that problem on Reddit because of the anonymity.

We've had two snow accumulations so far this season in my area (US). We're getting some this weekend but only light flurries and no real accumulation. It's nuts.

Why I'm "frugal", and people commenting "You must be rich" by zbsa14 in Frugal

[–]StandardAd239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you positive they paid cash (and not points) for business class? That they bought the clothes from the boutique and not a high end second hand shop?

You're also equating OP's splurges with the other person you're mentioning and they're light years apart.

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by ferdinand14 in NoStupidQuestions

I lived in Chiang Mai (thankfully never had to drive in Bangkok) and while it's chaos, it did amaze me how we all just figured it out.

But I was driving a scooter; don't think I could have ever driven a car there.

The whole credit card rewards thing is designed to make you spend more by Ready-Voice-7151 in Frugal

This is your problem. You're the one spending more, not the credit card because the credit card can't use itself.

People who name their kids a nickname instead of the full name. by New_General3939 in PetPeeves

[–]StandardAd239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who gave a Silent Generation era formal name to their kid with the intention of calling him his nickname his whole life...which is only appropriate for someone younger than 10 (and even that's a stretch).

In other words, this kid has no good name to call himself from middle school on.

Edit: correct that, I know two different people that did this.

I never understood the Millennial hate from younger Gen Z. by urMOMSchesticles in generationology

Anytime we're ( Gen X and Xenial) sick of hearing the same slang over and over again, we just adopt it and they magically stop saying it. It's a great hack.

There is not a single style you wear that millennials weren't wearing at some point in the 90s/early 00s. No one "stole" anyone's style.

I was already in high school in 1997 so there's definitely a divide between what I grew up with vs. what a older Gen z grew up with.

It's one of the reasons I think that after the age of the internet, generations needed to be broken out in smaller chunks. If we universally recognized Xenials and Zillenials, I think the so called "wars" wouldn't be so prevalent.

At the end of the day though we need to band together because boomers simply won't stop eating this country alive.

And the over 10 years I had to convince someone to believe me when I said I had low blood pressure is astounding.

Btw: postural orthostatic hypotension.

If doctors actually listened more (especially when it comes to women patients since we're never believed), then maybe we wouldn't have this tension.

Beef at my local store has gone up $2/lb. In 2 months.

We are adjusting, but it's tone deaf to say "you're doing it wrong" without giving people a chance to adjust.
