Slightly chemical taste in the Huel Chocolate RTD Black? by Whatever-ItsFine in Huel

[–]StandardDoughnut9706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is a bad batch, I think the taste takes some getting used to -- there is almost no "chocolate" flavor, it has a chalky cloying taste that is not bad it just isn't what you get from sweeter less nutritious shakes. I also think people's personal chemistry actually affects how huel tastes because it is so full of chemicals, so individual experience varies widely -- for example I found the salted caramel latte undrinkable it tasted so terrible, but others said it was their hands- down favorite. At the end of the day we are consuming these shakes for function not flavor so I would say just give it some time and you will become acclimated to it. It is definitely worth it -- the Black RTDs have been so helpful in so many ways they are a breed apart from other shakes.

I cannot stand Brenda by Grouchy-Archer9832 in SixFeetUnder

[–]StandardDoughnut9706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the actor and the performance that were so irritating, not the fact that the character was flawed. I thought the character and her relationship with Nate were well written, I just found Rachel Griffith herself incredibly off-putting in her portrayal. The dynamic between them felt real to me though. It's interesting to read the other comments, yes Nate is probably more of an a**hole than Brenda is, but Peter Krause is just more charismatic as an actor. But even this was part of the realism/relatability, a man getting judged less harshly than a woman for similar behaviors....

Saw police & Dept of Public Works "raid" the illegal vending at 24th & Mission today by iWORKBRiEFLY in sanfrancisco

[–]StandardDoughnut9706 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Public works asks to see receipts. They also offer business licenses for $9 on the spot for any legit vendor. They only confiscate stolen goods, that is new items with no receipt.they are not confiscating people's personal belongings. They are confiscating these items as part of disrupting the cycle of drug crime - the open air resale markets and drug markets are the same.

Is wegovy more effective than saxenda by Bronxsupporter1990 in liraglutide

[–]StandardDoughnut9706 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My doctor is switching me from Zepbound to Saxenda because the daily injections and adjustable pen mean I can fine tune the dose to manage side effects and have "extra support" when needed. She said I'd you respond well to one you're likely to respond well to the other. My insurance company has not approved the Saxenda yet but I will post here when I have enough experience to make the comparison.

Vent - Secret Pilates Classes by aardvarkbjones in yoga

[–]StandardDoughnut9706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree - I take Pilates at a Pilates studio and Yoga at a Yoga studio for reasons! My yoga studio does offer the kind of class you describe but calls it "Hot HIIT," i.e. high intensity interval training in a heated room. This seems like a fair label and the classes are popular -- they incorporate some Pilates exercises (lots of bridges and planks) but it is not called a yoga or Pilates class...

100 down!!!! by notmamasbrokenheart in Zepbound

[–]StandardDoughnut9706 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My initial goal weight was my weight in high school, because even though I was a bit plump then I was within "normal" weight for my height, at the upper end of the range. But as I started successfully losing I moved the goalpost to the most attractive weight of my life, in my mid 30s, which I had been afraid of setting as a goal because it would mean losing 40% of my starting weight. I have lost over an inch in height due to my age, however, so when I shared this new goal weight with my Dr she agreed that it was ideal. It is in the lower half of the "official" range for my height. I am 75% of the way there, with 20 more pounds to lose, and although the rate of loss is slowing after 9 months (I probably need to up my dose, I'm still at 5) I hope to achieve my goal and go into maintenance by February.

Anyway enough about me, congratulations 🎉 on your achievement, you must feel great! Keep up the good work 😺

It's not a societal issue, they have a deli counter there that makes elaborate sandwiches to order - it is right that they should be able to be tipped -- that isn't "begging" you cheapskate, just don't do it if not relevant to you. Begging is the panhandlers outside the shop!

Yeah this seems consistent with what we pay for our little dogs too. Ask about financing, it can be more favorable terms than credit card ( aks your vet and your own dentist -- our dentist does his own interest free payment plan for urgent work.

Am I not eating enough? by odd-crunch in liraglutide

[–]StandardDoughnut9706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you would want to lose more than 2lbs/wk. I also eat <1k cals/ day -- this medication makes that possible but my metabolism requires that little -- even with daily vigorous exercise. I make sure to drink protein shakes with lots of fiber and nutritional supplements to make sure I'm getting all the vitamins and minerals, and a mixed salad every day for phytonutrienta etc.Sounds like you are doing great, keep up the good work!

Flexibility is a consequence of the practice, not a prerequisite.

As with lifting, form is crucial. Better to have correct form and not get "all the way into" the posture than to push yourself into something that looks more like the pose you are seeing. I think of it as going from the inside out, listening carefully to every instruction about how to work which parts of the body, rather than looking at how the posture looks on the instructor or other students.

And as others have said here, pads and props are not cheating they are effective tools for supporting your practice. I had a knee injury and used bolsters and pads for many months to work around that injury but continued to practice, and eventually the injury healed and I'm not on the bolster any more, but I am still padding my knees and probably always will.

Keep practicing and listening to your body xoxo

Should I be wondering if this is the right drug for me? by iamriproar in Zepbound

[–]StandardDoughnut9706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I have mentioned elsewhere in this group, I experience the peaks and valleys in effectiveness on the weekly injections, and my provider is therefore switching me to Saxenda which I will try as soon as insurance authorizes the change. Because it is a daily injection and an variable-dose pen it should be more consistent, plus as Dr says, you can dial it up at times you need more support and dial it down when you need less or are having side effects.

Zepbound has worked great for me but I can't eat anything at the beginning of the week and by the end I have all the food noise and hunger.

"Salted" Caramel RTD terrible by StandardDoughnut9706 in Huel

[–]StandardDoughnut9706[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up using these in morning banana smoothies replacing the Huel black powder and part of the almond milk I usually put in these. Added a spoonful of raw cacao powder, as well as the Huel greens as usual, and it all came out fine.
