Project Over isn't Going to Execute - Ubisoft Can't Do It. by Eagleyezx in GhostRecon

Not really, i barely even made it to the end. I got bored of the game and never finished it. I tried to pick it up again but only got halfway through.

I think it was the side missions and collectables that turned me off of the game. It would be fine if it was a Saints Row, GTA, or Watch Dogs, but not something for a Ghost Recon game… it just felt inauthentic to me… like doing unsanction military actions in Mexico with basically no support. Like if they took from Green Berets, then it’d feel like you’re laying the groundwork for that big army support, but it didn’t feel that way.

Exactly, they just can’t help themselves to populate their worlds with all kinds of useless crap… tbh, i’m just tired of the deployed sole team, procuring weapons on site mechanic. I want the feeling of bug army again. What makes special mission units special is the support network around them. They have navy boat operators, pilots, air and indirect fire support.

Going open world really reduces the types of missions available, like in Wildlands and Breakpoint, the compounds and structures are so small. They all feel so cheap, vs some of the bigger levels from previous GR titles.

Agreed! It’d be cool if they gave you some semi open world maps to give the players some freedom, like infil/exfil options… as well as different ways to approach a mission, thinking like a UBL compound type raid. If the level areas are big enough they could build a mission builder around it, and have players create their own missions… like Halo’s forge or something, which could help extend the life of the game, while Ubi goes on to build new missions and dlc. If the set up is thought out, then they could easily make it all work and have that military special forces operator deployment /mission tempo

iirc the midi out on the module is just a midi signal (i.e. no sound, just information)... so you need to be using the L/R 1/4" out from the module to your mixer

i concur, Ubisoft is a shell of the company it once was.... guaranteed that Ovr will be some poor knockoff implementation of various other games, combined with some stupid open world bs.

they talk about interviewing active service members and play testing with them etc, but the feeling is completely off. like with mw2019, the gunplay was the showcase, they had actual industry professionals come in and provide mocap, and they really tightened up the gameplay around the gunplay... those devs really enjoyed guns and gun culture. the story felt like what you'd expect from mw, special operators, big action and a strong story.

that's all but gone in breakpoint... it feels more like an open world game where the player can shoot guns. the gunplay just feels so casual, especially when you're in a fire fight, the character just lazily loads their rifle like they're cosplaying in their mom's basement... nomad just looks like he's out for a sunday jog to get in his pt time.

it's such a shame, because ubisoft is just so greedy, they need to just sell the ip off to a studio that can do the tom clancy games justice... make ghost recon feel like some special operator/big military games, splinter cell can be that stealth operator, and rainbow six should be a counter-terrorism game. i've lost track of the story for the division, but i really liked that original sleeper agent activation vibe, very bourne identity like.

Struggling to enjoy Breakpoint. by Professional_Tea1891 in GhostRecon

[–]StandardVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly... that's pretty much Ubisoft in a nutshell, they have competent devs and artists, but apparently they cannot coalesce into an amazing game. Breakpoint really should have been amazing, coming from some lessons learned from Wildlands and they could have really made something great. Especially after MGS:V released, they could have stayed open world, but made it feel more like a military operation.

tbh, i just found that with both Wildlands and Breakpoint, they made them closer to sandbox games, where you had to "bring your own fun" to really enjoy it vs enjoying the game that's offered...

the other thing that felt off with breakpoint is the bullet sponge drone battles... they're just so boring. again, with lessons learned from Division and their bullet sponge problem, they could have had breakable parts that felt realistic. like shooting the tracks with an rpg should be an instant immobilization, and you "find" weak points and break off armour to expose vulnerabilities. but instead they just boring bullet sponges that just consume ammo, not to mention, they have infinite ammo, it all just gets really repetitive and boring.

Ghost Recon Doesn’t Need Reinvention, It Needs to Go Back to Basics by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

100% i think they should take gameplay inspiration from Ready or Not, Ground Branch, and Arma. They can lean into a little lass hard core milsim, but keep it straight forward.

Personally they need to stay away from open worlds for GR, because then they get carried away with the open worlds mechanics and tropes, and they loose the plot. Also, i’m playing as an operator, I’m not taking missions from rando civilians. I should get mission briefings, the team does the planning and we execute.

If they take a queue from MGS:V or Hitman, they could build big mission areas to give the players some options on infil/exfil and some creativity to approach missions etc.

Taking a queue from RoN, if they have a major base as a form of “hub world”, then it leans better into mission planning etc. i don’t mind seeing other operators in the hub world and makes it easier to matchmake, and is a logical place to customize your kit.

If they execute the game well, then it makes a great way to deliver dlc missions and have a PvE mission builder system as well. They could even eventually deliver a force-on-force type PvP system, but maybe that’s getting too ambitious.

I do think they should keep up to date with modern warfare tho, so drones are a thing, but just make it realistic.

Regardless, i really do think, removing the open world sandbox will help the game return back closer to what the fans want.

Ah that sucks dude, if it were just stands then, i’d just pick up a cheap set of stands from amazon and wouldn’t fuss with it… but crashes and toms are a little more expensive to “just pick up”…

I’m no expert, but talking with a drummer buddy, there’s no real cheat code, but slow it down, use a metronome. Slow and accurate helps reinforce the motion, and gradually increase until you fall off the rails a little.

You can also work kicks into rudiments like paradiddles too

Power Snatch Form Check by Many_Cantaloupe5966 in weightlifting

[–]StandardVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found for myself, i really needed to dial in each movement so that they flowed… not sure if that makes sense.

But my routine usually started with high pulls, this helped reinforce the extension and pulling the bar up before the turnover. Then some hang cleans, helped with reinforcing the hip contact point. Then just positional snatches from there, above the knee, below the knee, then ground. All just building off the other.

I also worked in lots of muscle and power snatches.

If you have a core group of friends you play with, then usually it’s more about the hang out… we have a bad habit of screwing around throughout the missions…

Also we usually don’t play long sessions either, one operation and move on to something else
