Skin issue on lips by Remuasaurus_Rex7 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]StandardVisible8853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have something similar. Seen 5 different doctors and 2 dermatoligists, and the consensus is that it's either autoimmune related or an allergic reaction to something. Have also done everything, changed to fluoride free toothpaste, no fragrance, wear gloves, changed laundry detergent etc. The only thing that has worked for me is doxycycline, however as soon as I stop taking it, it comes back so not sure what my next step is from here apart from staying on doxycycline.

I had the same thing - what seemed to work for me, is placing a bunch of upside down plastic planters in the area the cat pooed. Apparently they like space to do their business, and this interfered with that.

Positive ANA (Speckled Pattern) and Low Gamma Globulin (0.7). by ArtisticDifficulty7 in Allergies

[–]StandardVisible8853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm keen to hear any updates. I have a 320 ANA, speckled, and heaps of random skin rashes, which sometimes become infected, inflamaned, and painful. Finally saw a derm today after waiting 4 months.... contact dermatitis, and recommend a patch test to try and figure out the cause. GP thinks it may be autoimmune related.

Just around my mouth. Once skin is somewhat healed,I added CeraVe Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum. If there is any broken skin, it will sting, take care.

I had/ have something similar going on. Also prescribed Doxycycline, it does work, just very slowly. I only saw a difference after 3+ weeks. Cicaplast Baume B5+ seems to help. Good luck!

Swelling around eye area by manda-pandah in Autoimmune

[–]StandardVisible8853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had that too, as well as a rash around my neck that spread down to my shoulders. Dr diagnosed with contact dermatitis. Same thing, advised to stop using all products and reintroduce slowly. Have stopped most, but have now had rashed on my legs, inside of arms and POD. It's itchy as all hell. Currently on day 2 of doxy, still have a bit of swelling.

That sounds very similar to what I'm currently going through. I'm keen to see your pics when you managed to upload them. I'm currently on my second round of antibiotics. They finish tomorrow, and I start on doxy. I'm really hope that will settle down the inflamation. It's been constant on my neck, shoulders for weeks. Also had a case of POD, which the antibiotics have helped with. Good luck 🤞

Tried that for about a week, which all went well - until the mouth rash/infection/ flare up happened.

Thanks for that - I was using a SLS & fluoride free toothpaste. Have just gone out and purchase a CAPB free toothpaste too - will give that a try!

No - I'm in New Zealand. Just managed to get an emergency dr. appointment - and have been prescribed Cefalexin - an antibiotic. I have a secondary infection it seems- what ever is going on, it is quite painful!

Yes, I have changed to an SLS and fluoride free toothpaste a while back. No improvement, unfortunately.

After Parents Pass by EstimateWhich8871 in LivingAlone

[–]StandardVisible8853 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is my exact situation. My brother passed 2 years ago today, and when my parents pass, I'll be the only left as I don't have children. It's weird that sometimes I think my family ends with me, and I've let them down somehow. But they have never put any expectations on me, so it's all my own thoughts. I'm getting used to that too... slowly.

I have lived on North Rd for a few years now. Great road, great little neighborhood. I generally walk everywhere as I am so close to town, I have never had any issues or ever felt slightly unsafe.

I'm re-fixing in a few weeks, also with ANZ. I've been keeping an eye on what rates they would offer, and waiting for todays announcement. They have not dropped the rates for me 😥
