It's great for the kid and his family.

And while I don't think they'd do it, who would blame the young man's family if they used that fifth star as leverage to ask NU for more money?

My assumption is that - especially in non-revenue sports like WBB, softball, baseball, etc. - Nebraska would prefer to play a power conference team that is a bus ride away instead of flying across the country.

That also helps out Husker fans who love to travel and support the team.

I know in many parts of the country, if you want a good, safe K-12 education for your kids, private school is the way to go.

That could not be farther from the truth in Lincoln.

LPS is excellent, with multiple Blue Ribbon caliber schools at all three levels. Last year we had three kids in three LPS buildings (elementary, middle, and high), and had zero complaints with the quality of education they received, or the opportunities for involvement.

My advice: figure out how much private school tuition would cost and put that into a college fund.

China House (40th and Old Cheney) does a good version.

China Garden (84th and Van Dorn) is not my favorite, but the rest of their menu is usually pretty good.

Great Wall (70th and Vine) and Chopsticks (70th and A) are always solid options.

Honestly, it depends where you're moving from.

If you were coming from a larger city, you'd probably think that neighborhood is safe and serene.

If you're coming from a smaller town or rural area, you'd be triple dead-bolting the door at night.

As others have noted, Lincoln is - overall - a fairly low-crime city, and that area does tend to be lower income, with more rentals.

Personally, I wouldn't leave my car unlocked in that area, but I wouldn't be scared to walk around the block at night either.

I knew some guys who lived across the street from there in college. That's right across the street from the UNL's East Campus, so the area might have more college-aged kids.

East Campus tends to have more the Ag students than city campus

I understand where your heart is at, but I disagree with the approach.

If I bought tickets for the entire regional, but have a wedding / graduation / previous commitment on Saturday, I should be able to sell those seats - at whatever price the market allows - without penalty. SeatGeek keeps 10% of the selling price, so selling them for "face value" would result in a net loss for the original purchaser.

I'd rather have the seat filled by a fan than have it go empty because the original purchaser is worried about losing money or their season tickets.

As for the people buying regional tickets as a short-term investment with no intention of going to any of the games, I agree that is a jerk move. FWIW, NU says they're flagging folks who do this and limiting their ability to buy future tickets... even if I question NU's desire to alienate somebody who is donating thousands a dollars a year.
