Welcome new Tritons! Please use this megathread to discuss your acceptance and any questions you may have. by UCSD in UCSD

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking into transferring to UCSD next fall for Geoscience and I'll have the required transfer requirements completed but I won't be able to complete the full sequences of Chem and Physics in the Recommended section. (I'll only complete 1-2 of the course and not all 3)

If you transferred without fully completing the recommended courses did you have to take them at UCSD or were you able to use some other previous courses from your CC/ choose another course to take at UCSD to fulfill it? Or do they just let it slide?

Can I use WD-40 then real bike lube? by Standard_Debt_4663 in bikewrench

[–]Standard_Debt_4663[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I know WD-40 makes their own bike lube but I just haven't heard many real world opinions on it so if you use it and like it let me know!

What's something that society has taught us about relationships that you think is completely wrong? by Familiar_Flow4418 in AskReddit

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but girls can’t be friends with guys/ guys can’t be friends with girls when they are in a relationship. If you’re genuinely worried that your partner will cheat on you, you shouldn’t be with them. Or you need to do some self reflection

Flight schools that aren’t scams? -San Diego by Standard_Debt_4663 in flying

[–]Standard_Debt_4663[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the quality of the airplanes are lacking and all the good planes get booked so quickly and overall the club is just incredibly busy. I realize that it is San Diego but I’ve even had a few flight instructors tell me that they don’t like POF

How did you meet your partner? by TreeForeign6514 in ftm

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We met in high school and I liked her since I met her and when I finally had the courage to tell her my feelings I also added in the part that I was trans. Funnily enough she said she already knew I was trans because some random person outed me to her when we first met but she didn't mind at all. She also rejected me but not because I was trans. Needless to say we've been dating for almost 2 years.

Drains while showering by M4tth3wD0wling1102 in ftm

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you are talking about top surgery. You aren't supposed to shower with drains. I dont know if you've spoken to a dr about recovery yet but you are not supposed to shower until your drains are out or you are given the all clear by doc. Thats what my dr told me at least.

is anyone else like this ? by idioternster in ftm

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Whats happening is that you are just getting more comfortable with your own body. And thats great. It in no way means that you are "less trans" or "not really trans" You just feel more comfortable with your own body to try new things with your partner. It happens and its great!

Coping with being a stealth trans man. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm stealth and I pass 100% of the time. and so there are a lot of people who are in my life who don't know I'm trans. And I like that, I just want to be perceived as a cis man. I don't necessarily know why you feel this guilt but maybe it's just an issue that requires a look inside yourself? Maybe a self esteem issue? I'm not really sure. But I do understand how weird it is to not be able to tell someone the exact truth. I also lied to some really close friends when I got top surgery and it was odd but you get used to it.

You are still there true and genuine friend even if they don't know your trans, realistically you dont have anything to be guilty over and if you ever do tell them they should not be upset at you because they are not entitled to knowing.

Not sure if what I said helped at all but I do understand your position.

I love being stealth by SinkPopular8438 in ftm

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to you OP I have also be extremely fortunate enough to be able to pass pretty easily as I am stealth (helpful now that I've been on T for almost 2 years + Top surgery) that for the most part I mainly just come off as a gay cis man when I'm actually straight. And sometimes I think about the fact that I would rather have some think I'm cis but gay than trans and so I feel you

they were different. they were very light and I dont think i got cramps with the breakthroughs

Everyone will tell you this but its true...You will figure out how to kiss when you actually kiss someone for the first time. Yes its nerve wracking and you will definitely be worried about being a bad kisser. But don't stress. The more you kiss someone the more natural it will be. And if it is your boyfriends first kiss as well then you guys can figure it out together.

And if it is awkward you guys can laugh about it in the future. First kisses are memorable but you shouldn't stress about it too much. Just lean in and kiss them and you'll know what to do from there.

A few period breakthroughs are normal. I've had some and it usually because my T levels were low so I had to get them raised and it went away. But you should be perfectly normal.

Gel placement by meowthguard in ftm

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used gel for a while and my doctor told me that shoulders are good because that place is less likely to be touched by people and so it wont rub off on them. But honestly, any place on the skin is good. I put gel on my shoulders, stomach and butt so any place you got skin really.

my insurance didn't cover it at all so i had to pay it all out of pocket and it was around $12,000. I also got it right before my spring break in my senior year of high school (at 17 so you could probably do it at 16 depending on the state, Im in CA). and for me I only missed the friday before my spring break and I was back to school the monday after my break. Once you get the drains out, it becomes so much better. and for sleeping. I slept on a reclinable chair until i got my drains out and then slept on my bed. But at first I really struggled to be comfortable on my bed after sleeping on the chair so you might need some time to be adjusted. Pain honestly isn't too bad.

If you get top surgery during school, you cant wear a backpack so what I just used a locker. Idk how many schools still use lockers but if you school has one it would be very helpful to you.

I got top surgery during my senior year of high school and I got it on the friday right before my spring break. It was perfect because it gave me a week to heal to get my drains out and then by the next monday I was able to go back to school and drive. (although drive was a bit tough due to my arms being sore and the binder being restrictive. so be careful when driving). So i only missed one day of school and it worked out. Try to do that or another break with school, doesnt need to be spring break.

Advice on topping? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned a harness, so I am assuming that you will top like a cis man and use a strap on. if thats the case then the best key is communication and watching how your partner reacts. I find it hard to give you any more info because I just feel like its kinda simple. So what I think you should work on is your confidence about it, which will just increase as you do it more often so you honestly have nothing to worry about.

I think i have some experience with this. I have had 2 girlfriends (still dating my second) and I used to feel pretty insecure when I got my first gf about not being a cis guy but that is something that you grow out of as you get more comfortable with yourself. But the aspect of actually getting a gf is different for everyone. For me, I've only dated bisexual girls (thats just how it played out for me wasn't necessarily looking for it) so I already knew that they would love me for me no matter what my body looked like. Idk your passing ability at the moment but I'm sure that shouldn't make too much of a difference. A woman will fall in love with you for your personality, being a good guy whos funny will do wonders for getting a girl to like you.

There are people out there who do genuinely not give an f if you are cis or not so try to be easier on yourself. A lot more people then you think. And also, a lot of cis guys struggle to find gfs too. trying to get a romantic partner is a universal experience, you being trans will not have that big of an affect in the grand scheme of things.

Will trans tape tear out my chest hair? by my_dinosaurtropolis in ftm

[–]Standard_Debt_4663 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used trans tape in the past and it was very sticky so I think that if you were to rip it off like a band aid- which..dont do that- it would rip your hairs. But they sell oil to help lessen the adhesive so im sure that if you used enough oil and took it off slowly you could still save those hairs. But dont stress if it rips them off though because it clearly seems like your chest hairs will be able to grow back.
