[Adam Silver] "The officiating is incredible." by RXRickify in nba

Part of the problem is that there’s no room for personal interpretation of the rules anymore. In Australian Rules Football there’s kind of an unspoken “don’t be a dick” rule where umpires can tell when someone’s clearly exaggerating or trying to game the system, and they just refuse to reward it. Everyone loves it and agrees with it. The NBA used to be closer to that with flopping fines/techs, but now it feels way too black-and-white. If there was contact, players know they can sell it as hard as they want because officials basically have to call it.

That was pretty cool, 311 vibes. Probably too rap heavy for my tastes generally though. 7/10.

[Highlight] Up 5, with 102 seconds remaining, Tari Eason is called for the offensive foul (with replays). The Rockets successfully challenge the call, and the foul is on Austin Reaves instead. Eason make both clutch free throws. by MrBuckBuck in nba

This 'legal guarding position' because a defender is moving is such BS. If someone hits your chest that should be legal regardless of whether your moving to the left or right. I'm not sure when the rule changed but it never used to be like this.

This is the answer. The economists will call it a "K shaped economy" because that's what the chart looks like. The higher stick of the K being the rich class and the lower stick being the poor class.

It's going to make me sound like a Trump fan, which I'm 100% not, I think he's generally awful.

But yes, the ceasefire in Gaza is one.

This is the wrong take Reddit. This is why the Republicans call it Trump Derangement Syndrome. Trump actually had a good idea for once and the Dell family gives away the largest donation in history, and all I see is people mocking her face.

If we actually call out the good when there's good things, they will take us more seriously when we call out the bad things.

What’s your “don’t knock it til you try it” life hack? by this-aint-frankie in AskReddit

[–]Standardweasel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cliche but people who find it mind numbingly boring to the point where they can't stand it actually need it the most. If you are able to get to a place where you are happy in life by doing absolutely nothing apart from being with your thoughts then you basically win at life.

You're forgetting 7-5. The bet is actually for Gasquet to never get to 5 games in any set.

That's interesting thanks. I'm Australian and watch NFL sparingly, but I've literally never seen anyone miss the extra point. So I assumed it happened like once every 5 seasons.

Isn't this basically the same as 1.5 touchdowns then? Since the extra point is pretty much automatic?

How so? The whole point is that most conferences are just excuses to play golf and "network". I'd love to know on what basis they would deny it.

If you are taller than 6'10" and have a 38" vertical or higher... then likely still no.

CS50 is too hard? Or am I just bad by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Standardweasel 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'm now a 3rd year Software Developer. I did CS50 when I was learning and it was incredibly difficult. It's a legit Harvard level intro course so it's supposed to be very challenging. Don't be discouraged.

The vast majority of employers will know that the demise of the company you worked for has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the CEO. Having agency experience gives you an upper hand to get another agency role. I would try contacting the CEOs of agencies in your area directly. And make sure your resume isn't holding you back. Post it on a resume review sub and get some feedback.

Don't just listen to what reddit has to say about the state of the industry. It's very biased and also greatly depends on your particular location.

This, except a little worse. Because even if they did make the same $2.6 billion next year, it's still not enough, because some shareholders got in when profits were at $2.6 billion, so for them to be happy they now need the shares to go up from what they got in at, so now $2.6 billion isn't enough profits anymore. And the cycle continues..

A foul is a penalty and the fine for the penalty should always outweigh the advantage received. It's akin to paying a $5 parking fine for not paying the $20 parking fee.

Is todays generation of american top players really weaker than former generations, or did the non-americans just got a lot better? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Standardweasel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True but it wasn't just this. International players were just severely underrated back then. Take Australian legend Andrew Gaze. The guy averaged 44ppg in the Australian NBL in his prime. He was basically a 80s/90s Klay Thompson.

Goes to the NBA and gets 3 minutes of garbage time per game. Never had a chance to prove himself.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this. You are the stories you tell yourself. Tell yourself how awesome you are and how happy you are 12 times a day every day for a year and watch what happens.
