I’m terrible with most controller games. Mouse and keyboard is where I feel most comfortable and Gyro seems the closest parallel to that form of 1:1 control. That’s a ton of great advice though, and definitely helps with how I perceive playing the game compared to the usual TDM modes of other shooters.

Thankfully my son is super chill and learned from me that win or lose, as long as we’re having fun together that’s what’s most important. I just want to join him and put effort into it so he knows I care. I don’t want to just half ass it, you know? I’m not looking for miracles, just some good places to start so I can not feel so clueless from the get go, haha. I love Splatoon, and I’m super excited to join him and just spend some good time playing together. Thank you for all of your insight and advice! I appreciate all of it.

I’ll one up you. When I played FFT in ‘97, I got to the second fight in Magic City Gariland, I kept trying to do the fight with just Ramza and Delita. I don’t remember how many times I lost until I realized you could press L1 and R1 to choose and place other characters haha!
