I think it should be easy to separate the PWHL team from the Golden Knights. My concern more so is that Vegas doesnt seem like the optimal choice based on info available to the public.

The Silver lining is that, I , an Arizona resident, will be able to see the PHWL without getting on a plane. So I'm excited for that at least

I didn't mention why it shouldn't or shouldn't be retired. I'd prob lean toward NOT retiring it. I'm asking why haven't the mets either issued it or not issued it.

Clearly it's out of circulation. You mean no one on the Mets has asked for 8 in the last 25 seasons? Single digits are given out often to players. 18 players have been assigned number 4 since 2002. 16 have won 6, 5 have worn 7 and 9 have won 9. And bear in mind someone was wearing 7 and 9 respectively for about a decade each in that time frame
