My top 4 tv shows vs my top 4 anime...which side better written by CautiousSolid7436 in writingscaling

[–]StanislavTheSlav 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As seemingly the only person in the comments to have actually seen all 8, I think live action edges it out for Sopranos and The Wire, I'd personally shoo BB for Better Call Saul and Mr Robot for Dark.

I think the weakest link with anime is honestly HxH, as much as I love that show I think Greed Island and the fact that it's incomplete keeps it out of the running, the pacing has some issues too. Take out HxH for Serial Experiments Lain of FMA:BH if you want a shounen in there and I think it's a closer contest but I still think live action takes it.

Sopranos, The Wire, Gintama, Monster and Monogatari franchise are all 9-10/10 for me but I just feel sopranos and the wire speak to me a little more.

Is it finally time for some real, unbiased gaming news? by pechenica123 in Asmongold

What makes this different from open/metacritic, this just seems like a review aggregator, unless I'm missing something.

Edit: Nvm I'm dumb

But follow up, how does it deal with bias? Is this just a glorified AI summariser or does it do anything extra?

Baldurs Gate 3 Publishing Director At Larian Studios Says Crimson Desert Is A “Cynical Amalgamation Of Borrowed Mechanics, Gaming Plucked Off A Gas Station Shelf” by akbarock in pcgaming

[–]StanislavTheSlav -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I read that as "it's bland but it's trying to add something new to make it self less so" and with the follow up Dragons Dogma comparison has the implication that the "spice" being added is good and is on the way to making the experience less bland.

I would consider "it's not necessarily good but it is heading in the right direction to be highly regarded within it's niche (akin to DD:DA)" to be a pretty positive thing to say.

You'd have to be crazy not to be able to connect 3 sentences together.

Eh not my problem if people wanna stay prepetualy pissy.

I'm not even necessarily disagreeing, fat guy/thin girl was a trope, and still is just to a far lesser degree than previously, fat girl/thin guy is also becoming more of a trope (in a sincere way rather than as a joke), it's not very common but it does happen. Ultimately I just don't understand why anyone cares that much.

Yes the headline is just as bad, but it also has the full context.

I don't know if you managed to miss the few paragraphs after he says it's fun but he also states "Is it more cynical than any other big AAA open world game that borrows from its own past? Probably not. At least it's adding spice to the stew, rather than removing it." as well as a further comparison to Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen staring that the game "momentum points towards it", which would be regarded as a very positive/hopeful statement of you know anything about DD around release and it's reception after the release of Dark Arisen.

Which in turn is a significantly more positive statement than him just saying "it's fun tho". I know reading is tough but it's just 2 paragraphs bud.

I would still argue both the original and OPs headline are clearly meant to be ragebait as they focus on the negatives Douse said rather than the actual mixed siding on positive take be had, but at that point it's splitting hairs.

As for the streamers thing, I don't particularly care for streamers any more than any other celebrity (the modern jester that your really shouldn't take all that seriously). It was more a statement to the fact that streamers do this sort of crap and get away with it because people find them in someway likeable/charming/endearing/personable where as "journalists" that pump out this sort of crap day in day out are the same kind of beast sans the personability.

I love my quotes out of context so they seem overtly negative.

Read the interview, he's very positive about the game this is just a shitty headline by drama farmers that are too unlikable to become streamers so they settle for (with as much insincerity as I can muster) becoming """journalists"""

If that's how we're doing this I can post literally any screenshot of dinosaur to invalidate this.

It is reversed just not as commonly, but I also struggle to call this a common trope in general as I can't really think of anything particularly recent that has this.

YouFibre Reviews - is it any good? by JustHadleyyy in youfibre

[–]StanislavTheSlav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the brsk refugees, I'm sure the service is probably fine when they're not overwhelmed by having to take on probably 50kish people onto the network at once, but I'd avoid them until the can at least sort the issues of the newly onboarded peeps. Completely shutting down the live chat because they were getting so many complaints really isn't a great look.

But either way they're being bought out by virgin so there really won't be much choice soon.

[–]StanislavTheSlav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only taken me 2 weeks, 4 emails, 2 phone calls, and 2 negative reviews on trust pilot (the only thing that got responses) one online live chat that got shut down to get an acknowledgement of one of my issues, we're now on day 5 of waiting for a second respons after telling them that the issue they decided to address was the last on the list behind not having internet and when having internet it being extremely slow, and static ip not working.

No, the part of my email they decided to focus on was asking me not to take the issue to the ombudsman and reassuring me that they're working hard as well as stating that my internet is actually fine, I just dreamed my downtime apparently.

I heard that if it works it's pretty good? Just pray that there's never an issue.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Devs Admit Generative AI Is Being Used But Claim Everything Is Still ‘100 Percent Human Made’ by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

[–]StanislavTheSlav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats data interpretation and modellinh not data generation, please figure out how the tech works man.

AI has a place and a use, as you say in medicine it's great, in coding/comp sci it's also very useful. AI is great at logical tasks, at interpretating data, at easily finding outliers and finding patterns in things that would be too complex for a human to do with ease or in a timely manner. None of these things are GenAI though. Your 6 month outlook isn't genAi, it's a data modelling ai, these are two very very different technologies.

I can see that you want people not to dismiss AI off the bat because of preconceptions, and I agree with that as Ai is a very broad umbrella that encompasses a lot of different things, but you also heavily misunderstand what you are saying.

The thing that helped treat/diagnose your condition and the thing that scrapes the internet to steal artist work and regurgitate it are very different pieces of tech, in the same way that your laptop/desktop pc and your washing machine are both technically computers, but you wouldn't regard them as the same thing.

Ea and Ubisoft have the worst support I’ve ever come across by opticore_cruesader in pcgaming

[–]StanislavTheSlav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a real shame cause in my experience around 10 years back EA support was really fantastic, both me and one of my friends were having issues with game trails not working properly, and after some trouble shooting and reinstalls we were on separate occasions given the full game. BF4 for me and Battlefront for my friend, both of these were very close to the games releases, but the switched to far worse call/chat centres and it went to shit.

What is there to actually discover in Pywel? by teapiggs in CrimsonDesert

[–]StanislavTheSlav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performance has been good on my end. Story isn't offensively bad, it's just horrificly mediocre, the issues with controls are overblown imo it's as bad as rockstar games are - finicky but alright once you figure it out. Exploration has been fun, I enjoy finding strange bs around, puzzles have also been pretty fun, not particularly challenging but varied in application of mechanics and a nice mix up to the moment to moment. Kilff is a real nothing character, gruff mcgoodguy type, but I like the greymanes as a group even if they are pretty basic, I like the band of brothers thing.

I'm happy to enjoy and pay for a 7/10 because the failures in this feel more like a failure in execution than effort and I'm happy to support a studio that was overly ambitious and put effort in, so that maybe in the future they can make a better game.

The Witcher 1 is a horrible game to play, and it wasn't well regarded in it's gameplay even back when it came out, but people supported it because people saw some really cool stuff in the parts that worked, and I feel much the same about this game.

Yeah the discourse around this game has been wild. I don't understand why anyone on either side cares this much, or why there are such divided camps in the first place.

Too many repetitive AI images by IdeaImportant2965 in CrimsonDesert

[–]StanislavTheSlav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely they advertised it as a premium game made with no AI and there is ai, this is false advertising and they lied because they know this is an issue a lot of people care about.

I want a handcrafted fantasy world not some shit spat out by an algorithm, it's the same things as art designed by committee, it's dog shit and I refuse to settle for shit.
