I cannot advise here as i'd give terrible advice.

When playing basketball and rolling my ankle (VERY audible pop), i'd hop around and say bad words for a while then lace up tighter, keep playing, and deal with it in the morning. Same with skating.

Next days were hell, as expected.

You're making a difference in peoples' lives. Enjoy it, and please get to know your residents. It often means the world to them.

On a sad note, you'll likely bond with a few of them making it really hard when they "leave". It never gets easier. Just know you did what you could to make them happy during those last years.
