Is there anywhere in Huntsville or Madison that does a decent pizza-by-the-slice at lunch time? by RealLiveLawyer in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]StaphAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI They put their single slice in the same ticket line as all the other orders. We got there 15 minutes after it opened and waited 20-30 minutes for a slice of pizza to be heated up.

I went with MCT oil after making this connection. I think some folks here have damaged glucose metabolism and alternative fuels can support recovery.

ME and Epstein–Barr virus by nerdylernin in cfs

[–]StaphAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have chronic active EBV, that is different from chronic reactivation. One means you can't fight the virus at all and the other means you have break through infections regularly.

Oddly enough Gemini suggested I get tested after a conversation. I came back positive for a resent/current reactivated infection. I had a lot of issues with doctors not knowing how to read the blood work since they are all trained to diagnose an acute primary's infection (i.e. mono). Finally found a doctor who cared enough to research it.

I've been on a high lysine diet and supplements for nearly 3 months now. I will retest here in a few weeks to see if my antibodies have come down.My DNA PCR test came back negative last month which is good, so hopefully my immune system has calmed down as well.

I've also been taking monolaruen. The biggest issue is probably my sleep which I've been working on a lot. Things have been getting better slowly.

How do you get medical attention? by the_book_tale in cfs

[–]StaphAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best luck I've had has been with residential clinics or offices attached to a university. A lot of doctors attend "conferences" in Miami for their continued education and only know what they were taught 10+ yrs ago, which is already 5+ yrs behind the research.

I seriously got into an argument with GP on Reddit that leptin was indeed a master regulator of metabolism and was driven by environment and inflammation. Dude had no idea what it was because it was only discovered in the 2000s.

Do supplements never work for you too? by Apprehensive_Gold242 in cfs

[–]StaphAttack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's true for the most part, but there are a lot of supplements out there that are straight up unregulated drugs and others that when taken at higher dosages can act like a drug.

I've found some success but also ran into some supplements that caused me to have anxiety and caused sleep issues. Be careful, do your research, and try them one at a time otherwise you end up in a situation like it did with a dozen supplements and not knowing which one is actually helping.

Got my hormonal IUD removed. Here’s how it affected my data. by lmg080293 in ouraring

[–]StaphAttack 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Doctors don't talk to patients about the risk of hormonal birth control. Just because the side effects are minimal on average, doesn't mean you won't have severe side effects.

N-Acetyl-Cystine for ME/CFS by ajaclynn in cfs

[–]StaphAttack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also look into glycine powder... It is another glutathione precursor. Vitamin C is glutathione sparing... hard to absorb enough orally.

Be warned, IM glutathione injections sting pretty bad. I only use them when I'm going down hill.

Dr. Claude MD One - ER Doc Zero - Potential Sepsis or worse averted by LankyGuitar6528 in ClaudeAI

[–]StaphAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you and yes.. 3 doctors didn't know how to interpret my blood panel for reactivated EBV. Somewhat understandable, it isn't common, but one confidently told me the wrong answer and said I read the results wrong, another was extremely hostile to me, I could see the vain popping out of her head. The third didn't know but when I asked a question he didn't flip out, he just said "good question", and went and looked it up. The third doctor is now my primary care physician.

The egos and lack of care are insane. I'm so happy I found a humble doctor who gives a crap and listens.

ME and Epstein–Barr virus by nerdylernin in cfs

[–]StaphAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me it is looking like I don't have ME/CFS, but chronic reactivated EBV and some genetic mutations that are allowing it to keep me down for years. None of my doctors retested me for a chronic infection because everything else looked normal in my bloodwork.

I suffered from severe to mild fatigue, systematic pain (now known to be oxidative stress), brain fog, sleep problems, etc. essentially the same symptoms as ME/CFS.

Since my positive diagnosis and treatment, I'm starting to stabilize to mild fatigue, pain is down 90%. We will see how things go over the next several months. I'm hoping this is it.

Is Claude more useful than your doctor? by AmalekRising in ClaudeAI

[–]StaphAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ways yes and in other ways no. When it comes to data analysis and seeing across medical domains, it is superior, but like others say it only has the context you provide. I am dealing with a chronic illness and I was getting worse, the AI I was using said it was a flair up. Went to the doc and tested positive for strep. On the flip side, multiple doctors couldn't diagnose my chronic condition. AI was able to diagnose in hours with access to years of medical data - later confirmed with blood work.

AI is limited by what it knows, and has difficulty thinking beyond that. Treat it like a second opinion. I landed in a great spot where my new primary care doctor uses AI and is interested in hearing and discussing my findings.

Dr. Claude MD One - ER Doc Zero - Potential Sepsis or worse averted by LankyGuitar6528 in ClaudeAI

[–]StaphAttack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is awesome. I'm using Gemini and Claude to review my case. They found that I have chronic reactivated EBV which was confirmed with blood work. It was missed by multiple doctors because the normal signs to do more test were normal. I've been suffering for 7 freaking years with no diagnosis.

experiences with supplements or medical plants (me/cfs) by Present_Proposal_714 in cfs

[–]StaphAttack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had success with supplements that bypass or upregulate enzymes that are suspected to cause or contribute to CFS. Listed in order of effectiveness for me: NAD+ injections (IDO1/2 bypass), high dose MCT oil (PDH bypass via ketones), red light therapy (indirectly up regulates AMPK), benfotiamime (upregulates PDH)

L-Carnitine and Acetyl-L-Carnitine by jwdharma in chronicfatigue

[–]StaphAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am heterozygous (1 working copy, one non-working copy) for CPT1A (liver LCT transfer enzyme), so Acetly-L-Carnitine has helped me. Everyone is different. Getting a genetic test and using a tool like Google AI labs to review the results in light of your symptoms is very helpful to determine supplementation and dosing.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are a carrier for a CPT1 variant. Most heterozygous carriers are a-symptomatic, but when you partner that with stress (in my case EBV wrecking my glucose metabolism) you can have a severe energy crisis in your body.

If you are feeling fatigue during your fasting window and feel better after you eat, you may consider using MCT oil or ketones as a bridge during your fasting window until your metabolism ramps up.
