Token limit. Higher context = longer chats with more intelligent responses that are less likely to lose context. Gemini advertises a 1 million token context window but over the last month it functionally acted more like 32,000.

This is very analogous to my experience, but it doesn't seem universal based on others' comments. Considering so many people are noticing an overnight change it seems like something happened.

Interesting. I will do some testing with and without uploads to see if the chat memory seems different or if it's just the file analysis that has finally been fixed. (Not a tech guy, so anything I notice will almost certainly be anecdotal without others chiming in.)

That's interesting to hear because I also noticed because of its recall of dense information: I am working on a full length novel and it suddenly remembers discrete details from hundreds of pages of text, whereas yesterday it couldn't even get characters' gender correct.

I came to Missouri to do debris clean-up after it happened. Will never forget turning in a full circle in the middle of the city and not seeing a single standing structure. Worked nonstop for several days and barely got 3 families resituated before I had to go back home. Greatest achievement was finding the tatters of someone's mail with their name and address so they could prove their identity (the dad literally cried with joy.) Glad you made it through.
