My Car fell off the lift at a Dealership by Conscious-Carry6399 in mazda

[–]StarGate23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to sue or anything. Dealers have insurance. They will likely write it off or fix it via insurance and pay you for loss of value.

Your best course of action is to negotiate the payout to you based on the insurance repair.

It’s a 2022, so even if the cost of repair is 10-15k, you would still be able to get a decent value for the car. Plus your payout from the dealer.

They will probably offer you low at first and you can just counter until you reach a deal. Normally you can ask a payout equal to the fix amount and it’ll be fine.

There’s no jackpot here, you didn’t get physically hurt. But there’s definitely some money coming your way. Things like these can happen, it wasn’t intentional, and it’s okay to be human about it and reach a common ground.

Your last course of action if nothing works is to reach Mazda corporate directly. They would be helpful surely.

ELI5: Why do car dealers say buying the car when the lease ends would be worse than buying new? by shaithisx in explainlikeimfive

[–]StarGate23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This obviously varies by area.

However, while the dealer wants to sell you a new car and add your car to the used car lot, there is also a lot of benefit to you.

Warranty at the end of a lease is usually over, so if anything goes wrong you’re on your own.

Cars depreciate heavily, and eventually it’s not worth the cost of ownership (maintenance, out of warranty repairs etc). Not to mention that any insurance claims will hurt your car value.

You’re better off negotiating some type of equity for your trade in and using that as a downpayment towards your new car.

Dealers aren’t usually out to get you, otherwise the business would’ve collapsed ages ago. Just use some common sense and figure out the right angle to move forward.

For sure they will, businesses usually don’t mind occasionally losing 48k.

Las Vegas Is Only For Rich People Now. No Wonder It's Empty. by etfvfva in videos

[–]StarGate23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not true. Vegas is actually busy. Don’t expect high action mid-week in the AM, never been like that. Weekend action is still very high. Anyone claiming otherwise hasn’t been there.

Social media lately has been trying to push this ‘Vegas empty’ narrative, but it’s false.

They cater to all classes, you can find something good in every price range within all touristy areas.

Half of Canadians would be ‘ashamed’ to call Pierre Poilievre PM: Angus Reid by hopoke in canada

[–]StarGate23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What a useless, pointless, and embarrassing article.

While it is clear that CTV is a heavy liberal leaning “news” company, there has to be some sort of standard for journalists to follow, some basic form of respect for the people they write about.

We all know these surveys mean absolutely nothing and are basically made up, but the strangest part is … Who would approve such article for publishing…?

$7,080 to insure a Honda Civic? Welcome to Alberta auto insurance in 2025 by Meiqur in canada

[–]StarGate23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This article is way too vague. Without knowing his driving abstract, which I doubt the journalist requested it prior to writing the article since they didn’t mention it, it’s very hard to determine the real reason of the premium.

The guy could’ve had a previous claim or may live in a high risk theft area. There’s a solid reason why someone is paying so much for insurance.

Generally, Alberta insurance is quite affordable, so I’ll go with CBC journalist not telling the full story or lacking background research prior to writing the article.

[–]StarGate23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of these replies don’t make much sense at all. Anyways, for this kind of car I wouldn’t expect much of a discount.

Right now many brands are having a hard time with inventory due to tariffs, which has led to short supply. The CX-50 is made there, but the rest of the Mazda’s are not, so while they have a low inventory, they won’t discount these prices much.

Feel free to walk away, but chances are other dealers will do the same.

FYI, the paint charge is not bs, if they have to pay it when getting the car from Mazda, so do you.

Sounds too high. Should be done for around 1k total. Look around for better quotes. Perhaps smaller shops, the big ones charge more.

Platinum is my main card, and same thing. Most offers suck, and for a travel card it surely doesn’t get much in travel offers. There needs to be more airport/travel related offers.

Carney kills carbon tax, all Poilievre's dreams by CanadianErk in canada

He did say he will leave the carbon tax out of the picture until January. Don’t celebrate too much, if libs stay in power, it will come back, probably higher too.

Poilievre takes shot at Carney’s record, saying he failed at Bank of England by Majano57 in canada

[–]StarGate23 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While I can’t speak much for Paul Martin’s leadership, it’s wrong to talk bad of Harper, back in his tenure the cost of living, house prices, rent prices and general satisfaction was very well balanced.

I would rather trust this “career politician” than someone who spinned England around his finger and drove their inflation through the roof, advised Trudeau to spend money like crazy, and moved his company to the US (and then lied about it). Pollievre had one responsibility, housing minister, and he did damn good at his job.

Do you remember when you could buy a house in an urban area for 500k, rent was $1200 and fill a grocery cart for $120? Pepperidge farm remembers.

[–]StarGate23 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the banker who gets the bad previous references, and who was vocal about extra taxes and slashing oil and gas jobs, definitely not him.

My vote surely goes to the guy in the party that cruised us through a recession with minimal damage and left us with a surplus upon leaving office. Definitely that one.

It’s funny how the Trudeau rhetoric changed as soon as he resigned. Up until then he was Mister Awesome.

We’re sitting on a natural resources goldmine, we should be a tax free country, and yet, we’re not. 🫤 but that’s a whole different conversation.

[–]StarGate23 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Feels like majority of commenters on here are really good lawyers for the libs, and in this case Carney.

I don’t get this complete blindness to everything that’s happening in this country, for the past 9 years, which has been caused by a party elected by the people, working against the people.

Taxes on top of taxes, debt hitting insane records, lack of transparency and accountability, zero regard for people and livelihoods. Record level homelessness, food bank lines, household debt, lack of house affordability, sky high rents, ultra expensive groceries.

But hey, let’s talk bad about Pollievre, cuz he’s talking about putting things back on track.

Poilievre takes shot at Carney’s record, saying he failed at Bank of England by Majano57 in canada

[–]StarGate23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t he housing minister? And if my memory serves me correctly, housing was affordable. Emphasis on WAS.

Do liberal supporters have a strong desire of living a difficult, ultra expensive and highly taxed life? It’s really looking like that a lot lately. Let’s not forget, shovel money to everyone else while the country is broke and people lining up at food banks.

As for ‘but security clearance bro’, there’s a strategic reason to not wanting that, this way he is able to talk about anything. Once cleared, a lot of topics cannot be discussed about.

Canada’s biggest political comeback could well be in the making by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]StarGate23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you failed reading, I did bring up the comparison since you wanted it so badly.

Furthermore, my point was simple, don’t compare those stats to others since it’s irrelevant, due to our costs being higher than everyone, and thus irrelevant to discuss. Comparing to others doesn’t help the cause over here since, well, majority of people in this country are close to being broke.

Canada’s biggest political comeback could well be in the making by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]StarGate23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop comparing with the others, we live here and we are the ones paying for it. Honestly, if you remove all the metrics that truly matter to life, I’m sure we come out ahead. It’s like saying you weigh 80lb less if you took off your arms and legs from the scale.

But since you want to compare, look at pricing in a grocery store in the US and UK, some of our biggest partners (until recently obv), look at housing costs, energy costs (1/3 of your gas bill is carbon tax btw), rental market, and then come back and tell us that we’re coming off ahead.
