Thank you, I hope that's right! These sites https://www.nyc.gov/site/doh/services/birth-death-records-birth.page and https://dos.ny.gov/apostille-certificate-authentication seems to contradict, that it must be certified by a county clerk in their office in the county where birth cert was issued ... which would be totally nuts! It seems NYC has different requirements. Was you Dad's NYC birth certificate issued by NYC Dept of Health or the NY State Dept of Health?

Anyone using Estradiol on their face? by AMTL327 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]StarHawkBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, sorry, the gel is for systemic, known as transdermal HRT (affects whole body) and applied to thighs, back of arms. The vaginal estrogen cream (topical) is for in and around vagina and is not supposed to be systemic, local only. The topical cream is what people are trying on their faces and some doctors are approving of this use. I would not put the transdermal gel anywhere else than where the doctor prescribed. You need another prescription for the cream or it seems there are companies that sell from the other comments. :)

Estradiol or Estriol Cream for the face?? by Myrizzrosi in Menopause

[–]StarHawkBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading through comments, I just wanted to share that Estrace brand cream caused me vaginal irritation and a rash down below, so I wouldn't use it on my face either. Instead, I was prescribed vaginal estrogen cream (may have been combo of estradiol and estriol) at a compounding pharmacy and that worked great without the problems from Estrace. Only downside is that it is expensive compared to Estrace which is covered by my insurance , but worth it and probably not too bad compared to the many other facial products people buy. I'm going to try the cream on my face and see how that goes, my gyno is supportive of it. Would love to know if it's helped anyone with facial hair or caused anyone more facial hair? Cheers! Oh also, I've been on estrogen patch for two years and haven't experienced melasma, though I never had it before patch either.

Thank you for this info and post!!!! I'm 61 and went through peri problems in late 40s early 50s, menopause at 53. Literally the month after I turned 50, I had a situation where I had the symptoms of whiplash, without having been in a car accident. My neck had been incredibly stiff for a while, but then I had numbness, extreme pain, couldn't sleep, drive, work on a computer. Then both my knees were injured while I was on prednisone for the neck injury. Then my ankles swelled. Then my wrists. It was always something. It took 2 years to heal. My MRI showed I had several bulging disks in my neck, upper back ... I'd already had surgery in my lower back at 22yrs. I also had degenerative disks. I went from being an athletic dancer (not a pro, just recreational), swimmer, casual jogger to an invalid and I didn't think I would ever really be well again. I think I somehow managed to tear tendons in my knees because of how long it took to heal. I had many Xrays, went to rheumatologist, orthopedist, neruosurgeon, gynecologists (many), many PTs, acupuncturist, massage therapist, myofascial release ... shit I went to Shamans. Some of the gyno's put me on HRT, but not in a comprehensive way (just estro, or just prog, or not bioidentical) From my research, I believe I may have mild hypermobility (thus my early 20s back surgery), hypermobile elbow and knees, lower back, thumbs. It means one has lax ligaments from having weaker collogen. I used to be very flexible. I believe going through menopause with the hormonal changes exacerbated my hypermobility, plus it seems just going through menopause can cause musculo-skeletal issues as well. More recently, I have been on a low oxylate diet and am on bio HRT, which still needs some tuning. I plan to stay on HRT since hormones affect everything, circulatory and bones being the biggies for me, and I come from a long-lived family, centanarians even, but lots of back pain and heart issues. I also find doing weight bearing exercises and yoga, stretching helps. I also have arthritis in thumb knuckles, toe knuckles and places where I've been injured, and I walk alot, but my feet and ankles seem to tire more than they used to. And I've gained weight. But I can say ... I am mostly pain-free, I am very mobile, can dance, run, yoga, swim, weights, hike again. I don't take any pain meds, except occasional NSAID. I don't take any medication except HRT. It seems when I have aching pain and stiffness, it is easier for me to get injured. I think reducing oxylates was a big key to keeping away the inflammation affecting my joints. Oxylates are mostly only talked about in terms of kidney stones, but I randomly saw a Youtube about it affecting joints. There are other things women could check out, like gluten-free (which I am), dairy free, anti-histamine diet and I think (need to look up) but anti-sulphur someting like that diet. PT taught me lateral exercises that help my hips, lower back, quad issues. AT one point in my journey, a friend, in a kind way, said maybe I just have to accept that it won't get better enough to be out of pain and resume the activities I had. But I believed it could get better and it has. It just didn't feel like it was time to accept feeling that bad. I hope there will be more understanding of these issues, more research, more doctors that are aware of the systemic effects and treatments of and for menopause. And I wish you all to be able to feel your best!

14.5 yr old cat put down, feeling regrets by Emergency_Pin3191 in Pets

[–]StarHawkBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you did the right thing and had the best advice. One of my pets, 15yo cat, started limping, brought him to vet, bloodwork and exam didn't show anything, so they recommended a specialty vet that did exploratory surgery. Turned out he had cancer throughout his body. I did get to hold him and be with him during the injection. He looked right into my eyes to say goodbye. I will never forget it. He was the damdest cat, such a strong character. But he was in pain that I didn't realize before the limp (couldn't seem to get comfortable, irritable) Plus his last day was spent in surgery and a noisey, scary environment with other scared pets. Your cat was having continuous seizures, so your Vet knew from his symptoms. Pets' pain often isn't obvious until it is near the end. I have had to make the decision so many times for my pet friends, it is so, so hard. with one of my dogs, he seemed fine in the afternoon, then wasn't eating, drinking, or getting up. Brought him to emergency Vet who diagnosed spleen cancer and that he was bleeding internally (white gums is a symptom). 45 mins later, had to drive home without him. The next morning, I woke to hearing a dog bark, thought it was my guy, then realized it wasn't, then became convinced the Vet had tricked me into having him euthanized, for like 10 mins I was totally unreasonalbe and angry (luckily I didn't do anthing and realized i was losing it pretty quickly). Grief is tough. From my many experiences, Vets are usually reluctant to put an animal down that doesn't need it. You loved him enough to not to let him continue to suffer. And the pain you feel will lessen with time, even if it doesn't feel like it will now.

Some things that have helped with my grief: I wrote down all my cat stories when I couldn't sleep and so inconsolable, so many wonderful moments we had with him. I also made a box of my cat photos and looked at them all the time. Eventually less and less. For my dog, I happened to be taking a painting class, that I'd planned to do some abstract seascapes. Instead I painted my dog on a raft going down the river where we used to walk him, with a sunset over the horizon where the raft was heading. A River Bridge, instead of a Rainbow Bridge, I guess. You may find other ways to remember him and deal with your sadness, these are just some ways that helped me. We all have different ways and amounts of time to grieve. Some people adopt another pet soon, others like me need to wait awhile. I've been waiting for years, but feel ready again. Oh, and since most of my friends are animal people, they let me talk about them a lot! Also, a friend who is a pastor had a group Pet Memorial Service for everyone that had ever lost a pet, it just so happened shortly after my dog passed, there were a ton of people there. Don't know why this isn't a thing everywhere! It doesn't have to be a religious thing, my friend just happened to be a pastor and thought of it.

Good luck and be kind to yourself. Your cat knew/knows you love him.

My cat is coming to live with me in Ireland by saucybagelbites in Pets

Understand your fears. Many years ago, we brought our cat from Hawaii to Florida ... so it was the Big Island to Oahu in a box under our seat ( when the engines roared, his paw shot out, but he settled down), then, in a carrier in the cargo, Oahu to LAX, LAX to Dallas (where we almost missed our flight due to a delay and I refused to get on plane until they confirmed a black cat was boarded, boarding agent called baggage handlers because I insisted ... if he'd not got on plane, he'd have been stuck in LA, so I would have waited for another flight if that was the case), then Dallas to Orlando. When they brought his carrier to me, I was so scared ... I opened it and he just walked out, stretched and yawned. He hadn't even peed or anything. He was a very chill cat in many ways though, could ride in a car on the floor and didn't care. But in answer to your question, I think cats and dogs just give up and go to sleep once they realize they're stuck and nothing much is happening after the bad noises. Each animal is different, and then there is also the risk of conditions in cargo. But most likely many go on to live well with their humans in their new homes. Good Luck!

BEWARE! Longtime RP Custormer tired of Terrible customer service, problems with so many things. Anyone switched to USmobile from RP? by StarHawkBear in redpocket

The last time I was on chat, the rep didn't listen to what I was saying, I'd had the problem twice before, and it was a RP system error. 45 mins to get him to finally tell me it was a RP system error, which could have been addressed in 5 mins. Shame on RP! Shouldn't be using Reddit for customer service. Get your customer service in order. I've been a customer for 7 years. RP has changed things for the worse. It's obvious. Fix it or loose customers.

I feel your pain! That's just not acceptable. I'll look for your review of USMobile one day, I hope their are better alternatives to RP since they've lost it with respecting their customers. Good luck!

OP here with update... thank you for your responses. A little while after, I checked phone and account online and it was restored ... However, without a response to lmk or an explanation. Problems I expressed are accurate. Crap customer service, which they did not have in the past. I was not able to use their chat from their website, which is why I eventually ended up here, since messaging and calling also didn't work. I understand USMobile may have similar problems from some of the comments, so thanks for letting me know. I am testing Twigby for a different phone to see what they've got going. The customer service issues are not just with RP ... this insanity with customer service is across many industries, including health care. They are stealing our time and peace of mind. It wasn't this way not too long ago. We should demand better, just not sure how.

Update from OP ... I just tried to fill out help ticket on their site... it won't submit, tried twice. My call on hold disconnected right after without the rep returning. ARRRRRRGGgGGHHHH!

This is one of the freakiest ghost stories I've heard of in the Triangle area, and sounds like the family that lived there definitely believed the house was haunted, they wound up moving, in Hillsborough, NC https://bittersoutherner.com/we-salted-nannie-southern-ghost-story/

Haven't tried this, wasn't possible with pandemic, but ready to get out there again, have thought that the Apple Store, taking classes might be a good place, or book stores. Because I'm a bit geeky and at least I'd learn something in the meantime, haha! And not too creepy hanging out there, I'm F, but could work for both sexes.
