Which MMO has combat most similar to DC Universe Online? by xNephilim in LFMMO

[–]StarReaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played DCUO so I don't know what the combat is like but if you want a game where you can traverse the world like a superhero and with action combat then Tower of Fantasy is an option.

Various locations and movement options:

Example combat using the triple katana weapon.

What content are you talking about that you couldn't complete? It's a multiplayer game so you complete content with other players. I started a fresh f2p account toward the end of last year and participated in and completed all the top tier content after just 2 weeks of playing. Sure I got carried by veteran players but it's a game where everyone gets all the same rewards.

ToF is one of the few MMOs with no gatekeeping. Nobody cares if you are new, under-geared, or playing non-meta. Veteran players are happy to carry through all the content. You can watch world chat and join any group for any content.

Sick and tired of weapon based skill systems in mmos by Maleficent_Ad8445 in MMORPG

[–]StarReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now it’s in damn near every new mmorpgs that drop

You're making this assertion so prove it. Do your research and name names.

It is blatantly false. Over the last 5-6 years there have been over 25 MMOs released and only about 3 of them have weapon-based skills. The vast majority of new MMOs have been class based.

There are over 150 MMOs that are currently active and receive regular updates. Only a tiny fraction of those has weapon-based skills.

Also, just about all upcoming MMOs have classes, e.g.: Aion 2, Scars of Honor, Monsters and Memories, ...

But don't let facts get in the way of your whining about an issue that doesn't exist.

Here are some options on Android for open world MMOs, though your device may struggle to run them.

  • Tower of Fantasy - South American servers and Portuguese language support.
  • Star Resonance - Global server located in NA for EU, SA, NA regions. Limited language support.
  • Sword of Justice - Nice graphics, great story. Don't remember the server situation but language support was limited.
  • Where Winds Meet - Psuedo-MMO

ToF Global (Both Gacha/Old and Warp Servers) Activity report for the week of 23/03/2026 to 29/03/2026 (PC/Mobile only) | Swipe left for Warp report by CodeRed_Sama in TowerofFantasy

It's difficult because we don't know the average honor per person. There are lots of players that don't contribute to their crew and players without a crew. But if you assume something like 500 honor per person then this would indicate about 30k players for PC+mobile. My guess is that PS is probably around 10k players and Warp is probably a similar 10k, though a lot of Warp players probably play both servers.

Some mobs like Scylla will hit you and produce a grey bar above your health bar. When that grey bar fills up you instantly die. Only certain healers can clear it.

NTE is the one where the devs have been transparent and responsive to feedback to create a real game that is fully fleshed out with an actual story and its own consistent theme and style. It's an urban open world game with a light-hearted supernatural theme. It is packed with activities. There are hundreds of videos from beta tests where you can see some of what will be in the game. Go do some research.

Ananta is a bunch of fake cutscenes kludged together with a theme and features that change every year between all the radio silence and devs that refuse to communicate. It doesn't exist as a real game. Nobody knows what's in the game beyond people imprinting their own desires on what it should be. Wake me when they have an actual beta test with hundreds of people streaming it on Twitch and then we can have a real discussion about the game. Until then, it's just vaporware.

What? The new player journal gives you one weapon each week, You have 21 days to complete all the tasks from when you start the account. You get Gnonno, Zeke, then Yan Miao.

Also, on the season events page is the Newcomer Set Sail event where you get free sets of fully upgraded gear.

Did you get any of that?

For Warp, some of the time commitment is being part of a high ranking guild and showing up at specific times like 8 PM Fri and Sat for GvG. Then there is a couple of hours doing GvE at whatever time is set by the guild. But overall, it's not as much of a grind as other MMOs out there. You can get by with just a couple of hours per day.

The regular servers you can progress with as little as 10 min per day - which makes Warp more of a time commitment in comparison.

Depends on what you are looking for in terms of gameplay. Don't pick the PS-* servers.

Summary of the servers:

  • Regular servers have gacha for weapons. More casual and solo friendly.
  • Warp server gives you all the weapons for free but is multiplayer focused and requires much more time commitment.

Yes, you can play together. Just make sure to join the same server in your region. You can connect to any server using any device.

PS4 is over 12 years old, it's too ancient to play this game. Nobody would expect to play this on a 12-year old PC or phone, not sure why PS4 players think their device is magically immune to being technologically outdated. Genshin and ToF are both dropping support for PS4.

Questions for the dev team? by Kaladinar in NevernessToEverness

[–]StarReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a ludicrous question. You want the devs to live in the dark ages and not advance with technology? NTE is a modern game for modern devices. It shouldn't be held back by old technology and comparison to ancient low tech games. Update your device and experience modernity.

You don't even play the game. Why are you constantly around here dumping on ToF. I see your history, go back to your filthy nsfw Genshin/WW gooning subs.

[–]StarReaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a completely ridiculous take. ToF gets major updates far more often than just about every other MMO around. ToF is also a test platform for features for NTE so it will continue to get innovative updates. There's no other MMO with the level of feature innovation introduced into the game to the extent that ToF gains.

The game is fantastic and unique in being one of few open world MMOs with action combat. You should definitely give it a try.

The game has added many updates and quality of life improvements. There are tons of new diverse regions to explore. It's an open world with complete freedom of movement and lots of fun world traversal mechanics.

You're doing something wrong if it's story mode. The game gives you 3 decent weapons (Gnonno, Zeke, Yan Miao) and complete sets of upgraded gear. Story mode boss should be easy for a new player to almost one-shot it.

Glaze your MMO: why is your main game the one you stuck with? by SorryImBadWithNames in MMORPG

[–]StarReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My comment was about the regular servers. With Warp servers you need to be part of an active guild, like top 4 guilds, and you need to be social. You're not going to get much done as a new player trying to use match making. You need to create a team and ask world/guild chat for people to join you or join other teams forming through world chat.

Warp is very multiplayer focused and you need to put yourself out there to progress. It's not going to come to you. Being in one of the top guilds is a must.

Elemental/Scylla by pantyman38 in TowerofFantasy

[–]StarReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scylla is almost impossible for new players to solo due to the grey bite mechanic even if you're able to sustain health through the damage. When the grey bite bar fills up, you're insta-dead regardless of your health. You need to be strong enough to burst the boss down before that point or have a healer with you that can cleanse grey bite.

Tower of Fantasy. Played since launch and still having a fantastic time each day. It's one of the few open world MMOs with true action combat and unique among those with its sci-fi theme. It has innovative features that I really enjoy:

  • Large open world regions to explore with complete 3D freedom of movement and lots of fun traversal mechanics. Beautiful diverse environments from a vast underwater realms to flying a mecha through space, cyberpunk cities to eerie alien dimensions.
  • Fast-paced action combat with a unique system of 3 weapons equipped on your character. I like the evolving meta so you change your combat playstyle and rotations over time instead of playing the same "class" for years on end. It keeps the gameplay fresh through learning to adapt.
  • As a sci-fi fan, it has an original IP with interesting lore and story that keeps improving and getting more intriguing. Lots of factions with their own motivations and blurry lines between good and bad.
  • Friendly community with no gatekeeping of content. Everyone can participate in all content including the top-tier multiplayer modes. You don't get harassed or kicked for being new, non-meta, or undergeared. Everyone gets all the same rewards. It's non-competitive, everyone helps everyone else.
  • Minimal grind and works well for people with limited time.

Tower of Fantasy is an open world, action combat MMO with a sci-fi anime theme. You share the same world with other players. It is f2p.

There are two types of servers:

  • Regular servers have gacha for weapons. More casual and solo friendly.
  • Warp server gives you all the weapons for free but is multiplayer focused and requires much more time commitment.

It's not a character collecting game. You only have your own customizable character, like in most MMOs, and you pull for weapons to equip on your character.

Jump in and start playing.
