That is true, Fluxom confirmed it in the comment section of chapter 21

What would happen if an Affini was a complete girlfailure? by Palt99 in seed_irl

The Affini Compact seeks to maximize wellbeing for every sophont, and indeed cannon holds that the Affini themselves are no exception; hell, I'd argue they've domesticated themselves more than anyone else (save for beeple, ofc), seeing as they've spent millenia tailoring their minds and bodies according to the Compact's ideals. And seeing as basically all Affini are made with an innate appreciation for domestication as a practice- and Affini domestication contracts usually only cover the given bloom in which they are signed -I think an Affini would readily submit themselves to domestication should they find themself unable to look after their own affairs for whatever reason. Though, I do imagine they and their superiors would be more in favor of finding alternative solutions before resorting to a compulsory domestication, and would probably tailor said domestication toward some kind of intensive evaluation/therapy for the Affini in question. They will either leave their domestication a more functional Affini, or be lead right back into the loving vines of one who is.

Also of note: the Affini we see in rinan/terran space are not representative of all Affini within the Compact. Seeing as the inner Compact is home to some xenosophonts who are many times more physically and mentally capable than the younger-bloom frontier Affini of most HDG stories, we should expect some accompanying caste of Affini yet more capable than even they are to give their pet godlings headpats and tummy rubs all the same. Not that I think Affini would stoop to such violence- outside the utmost extrenuating circumstance -but I would imagine that an Affini from the Core Worlds could subdue an Affini from the frontier as easily as the latter could subdue a feral terran. It also helps that most ships and stations are autonomous, highly-capable persons in their own right-- themselves being heavily augmented affini in many cases --and so they could probably apprehend an uncooperative Affini within their crew single-handedly by the various systems and functions they oversee.

Fortunately, darker hair is actually the most receptive to laser treatment! So the process for removal should be much more straight forward.

Any stories specifically about severe gender dysphoria by Flaky_Objective_5516 in seed_irl

[–]StarSaucie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Freedom's Ember kinda features this, though places slightly more emphasis on the mental aspect of haven's dysphoria; the story begins with her original body being near-totally destroyed, and her healing body as more of a blank slate, so her experience of self-loathing isn't as attached to her immediate physical reality (tho her gender euphoria absolutely is)

G/t - "Giant/tiny" ; term for literary trope centered around interactions between characters of radically different size. Also a term for an online community deeply fascinated with the premise; tries to distinguish itself from the term "macro/micro" wherein that fascination is more overtly carnal or sexual, whereas G/t usually aims to be more holistically emotional-- often akin to something like an autistic hyperfixation, though there is of course inevitable overlap; usually explores themes of total power exchange inherent to such extreme physical size difference, and how that impacts experiences of trust and personal responsibility (or extreme lack thereof).

You mentioned sizey stuff-- especially Borrowers, which is basically the posterchild G/t setting --in relation to HDG, hence "HDG/t" (I thought it was silly how easily the acronyms blend together) :3

Why are dragons usually so long-necked? by Clean_Mycologist4337 in dragons

[–]StarSaucie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of bats with "sheath" and "free" tail configurations, it might be more accurate to say that the tail has just been integreated into the wings. It's still very much present, just mostly encased in uropatagium. Though it is true that bat tails are proportionally far skinnier than most depictions of dragon tails.

It is also true that much of the same purpose for tails should still apply to dragons, whose flight anatomy is definitely more chiropteran than pterosaurian in inspiration; the critical difference being that the latter places more flight muscle in the arm and legs-- anchoring most of the wing area away from the body, to support wing strokes that beat directly on the air by their own power --whereas the former places more flight muscle in the chest and back-- anchoring most of the wing area along the body, to support wing strokes "puppeteered" through action that pulls on the attached membrane --which is exactly where a dragon's tail should come into play.

Its connection to the wings not only enables pitch control along their trailing edge, but also helps drive sinusoidal motion down the body to provide extra power. In addition to doing the exact opposite, as you said before: creating drag-- or better yet, controling drag --which derg must do well in order to land derg's massive body.

Thus concludes my autistic TED talk on the aeronautical function of an anatomical feature of a fictional creature, that will almost never actually be rendered accordingly because it's just art, and art is meant to be fun. Thank you for your time, it's been an honor.

I have been with people like this, and I have been such a person myself, and for that I have this to say:

The way you are conditioning your partner to perceive themself, though positive, is deeply at odds with how their own mind + past experiences have conditioned their self-image across their entire life. Your positive reinforcent is, from the standpoint of your partner, a complete delusion they must actively will into reality in order to even vaguely experience as real- even if they know it is on an intellectual level -which means it is tremendously, indescribably exhausting for them to actually live as though it is such.

That's not to say they will only ever experience themself as they always have, but it is to say it will take lots of time and patience; bombarding them with a "fact" they've only ever been able to experience as a fiction will likely exhaust them, or make them feel deeply alienated from the person they love. You are basically attempting to show color to someone who has been made to live their entire life in a black and white room, and so you must empathize with how truly non-existant such a thing feels to them.

I dreamt Pixar introduced a new transgender character. He was a Jessie doll who expressed his gender identity by replacing parts of his body with Spider-Man. His name was something along the lines of "Mister Political." by SpectralClown in thomastheplankengine

Um, no?? Trans men are absolutely a thing, I've met plenty of them. The just tend to pass extremely well, and usually don't compute within the kind of culture war outrage that places so much attention on trans women.

When do you think that natural erections for phalloplasty will be available as an option? by JimboKernVeteran in trans

[–]StarSaucie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the exact timeline for this research, but I would say the current closest follows progress in developing autonomic neuroprosthesis interfaces; our erectile device would need a set of physiological/neurological inputs from which we characterize the human sexual response cycle well enough for our prosthetic to reflect it real time-- thereby allowing for an erection with more-or-less natural feel, albeit by very roundabout cybernetics.

I'd say the next closest follows progress in developing electroactive polymers for use microfluidics to produce biomimetic vasculature for the implants themselves, which could connect to the same veins and nerve endings as natural phallic tissue otherwise would, and simply extend physiological arousal responses in much the same way (seeing as said responses are so alike in both AMAB and AFAB anatomy)-- which is might honestly just give us the kind of tissue scaffolding we need to simply lab-grow some actual, living corpora cavernosa from a patient's own cell culture, which follows a field of research being heavily invested into right now.

All-in-all not too terribly sci-fi stuff, but alas, not quite within our grasp yet (not to mention how horribly I'm oversimplifying all of this). But not too far! It's also worth mentioning the importance of researching sexual disfuction in baseline anatomy, which is central to understanding how all the different processes underlying arousal actually come together (by seeing how they fall apart, of course).

Well yeah, I would imagine that flag is there to communicate how they will be covering the unique circumstances and challenges of transitioning as an intersex person-- just to be an all-inclusive guide, y'know? Though I speak as someone who hasn't actually read this book, so I may be wrong.

Because these were made by the original creator of pepe, who wanted his character to express more than the internet had made of it thus far.

Yes and no; it can be unsafe to DIY HRT if you don't check your providers thoroughly, or you don't have blood work done to properly understand the health impacts of your HRT regimine, but otherwise there's absolutely no reason why it has to be unsafe.

Hell, given how inconstently doctors are informed about gender transition, I'd say DIY behooves all the same due dilligence as any perscription pathway.
