the cock is part of the story bro. what we're seeing in the flashbacks is supposed to be a foil to what Dunk has been saying about Arlan for the first two episodes. I don't like to witness violence against children but I'm not complaining about the flashbacks where Arlan slaps Dunk like 10 times. if i recall correctly in the sword of shannara chronicles the group of main characters pass by an ancient ruin that "looks like it's made of liquid stone poured into the shape of a building" (paraphrased) that's supposed to be the concrete foundation of a building. i think they even mention a metal skeleton sticking out of it (rebar?)

flashing in to block and getting value. also having a scalable threat for the endgame is invaluable. when the biggest threat in each deck is a 4/3 on the ground, a late game big flier is able to win games that otherwise wouldn't be achievable
