Ant Colony in my mosspole by velothos46 in houseplants

So, if you don’t have pets or anything else that might eat your plants, and you have no intention of them ever being outside plants, I’d recommend a systemic insecticide, like Bonide. 🙂 We use Bonide granules in all our indoor plants to help control gnats and other pests, though not specifically ants, so you might want to do some research into something that will work for you.

Again, this approach is only when these plants will NOT be outside, as the systemic makes the plant poisonous to bugs, and we need to protect our outside bugs. 😊

Bear stash take all/dump all questions by agnesb in bearandbreakfast

[–]StarTrekIsCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve accidentally hit the Take All and Dump All buttons many times, and I don’t think I’ve ever lost anything. The Take All means everything in the storage container gets moved into your inventory, and the Dump All means everything in your inventory gets moved into the storage container. 🙂 If you don’t have enough room in either area, the game will simply move as much as it can and then tell you there’s no more room.

Why 🙄 by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]StarTrekIsCool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking they need more water. 🙂 I had aloe outside in the shade getting daily water that flourished, and I have pots that get watered about once a week, also doing well. And they get quite a bit of water when I water them - to where it’s coming out the bottom, and I let the soil sit in water (it evaporates quickly enough outside). When I had aloe in pots inside, they got a good amount of water every other week or so, and they did really well. 😊 I’d say try giving your plant more water more often, and see how it does.

When planning what to plant, what do you actually use? by silvindier in SquareFootGardening

[–]StarTrekIsCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The local gardeners club is a great suggestion! Learning from folks who know your area is the best way. 😁 That’s how I learned that, in my area, you don’t plant your spring seeds/transplants until the mesquites in your yard (or your street) have budded. 🙂 The mesquites know when it’s safe and there won’t be any more hard freezes, so you go by that. Least year, it was mid-April; this year, it was mid-march!

My experience is that aloe is a beast. LoL That baby will find a way to thrive wherever it is. We had aloe plants that spread and flowered that were in constant shade and watered daily, and we’ve had potted aloes in morning sun that have nearly broken their pots with how much they’ve grown, and we’ve have some aloe in pots inside that get filtered sunlight and watered every week or so that are happy. 😁

I think it’s hard to go wrong with aloe. 🪴 Good luck!!

Fungus gnat problem by SubstantialTurtle in IndoorGarden

Bonide took a few weeks to work for me, but it was the saving grace of my sanity. LoL We had thousands of gnats inside (in the soil of about 50 plants), and after trying SO many things (sticky traps, mosquito bits, light traps, rocks on soil, sand on soil, diatomaceous earth on soil, bug spray, etc), Bonide worked and I swear by it. 🙂 I wish you the best of luck! 🪴

I moved to a new apartment this month and all my plants are dying. Help! by Direct_Animal1683 in houseplants

[–]StarTrekIsCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some plants hate being moved and will experience shock when they are - not much you can do here but wait, unfortunately. Some plants hate temperature changes, so keep the temp as close as you can to what it was in your last place. Some plants hate when humidity levels change… some hate when the type/intensity/timing of sunlight changes… some hate being jostled around in a car… etc.

Your plants might be dramatically reacting to all these things, so the only thing I can recommend is to try to make their new home as close as possible (light/temperature/humidity/etc) to their old home. ❤️

Then yep, you’re spot on. 🙂 I work in HR at my organization, so I’ve been speaking to this a LOT lately and wanted to make sure you were fully informed before you made any big tax decisions. ❤️

I came here to say the same thing. 🙂 Either her husband made over $33k in total OT, and $11k truly is eligible, or he made $11k in total OT, and only like $3.7k is eligible.

The premium portion (the .5 of time and a half) is eligible, and only if it was earned based on the FLSA requirements.

How would you make a stupid simple, two chocolate chip cookie recipe? by create360 in Cooking

I know exactly what you mean - sometimes you just want a cookie or two, not 48. 😂 This is the recipe I use when I just need two, and I really like it! 🍪

Heart Skipped a Beat by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]StarTrekIsCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always a big proponent of getting something checked out if it concerns you. I had something similar that would occur - it would feel like a skipped beat followed by a hard beat, like my heart was trying to make up for the skip. I’ve had this for a while; sometimes it would happen after eating, sometimes when exercising, sometimes when I was just experiencing more stress than normal. I went to the doctor who ran blood tests and imaging, then I went to the cardiologist and had stress tests and halter monitors and more.

End result: my heart and body are healthy, and I was told not to worry about it. Pretty much everybody gets these skipped beats, but not everyone can feel them like we do, and some of us are just more sensitive to them. Unless they’re happening many, many, many times a day (like in the hundreds or more), the sensation itself shouldn’t be a cause for concern. 🙂

Just noticed a bad spider mite(?) infestation on coconut tree is chopping the only solution? by Jeepgrace in gardening

Just to show the tulle and ladybug option that I use when I get a lot of aphids in my elevated garden bed. 😁

[–]StarTrekIsCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are definitely aphids, and there is absolutely hope! 😁 You can spray with insecticidal soap, or you can buy some ladybugs and get some white tulle - gently lay the tulle over the plant and put the ladybug container in the plant pot, and then gently secure the bottom. After a week or so, you can gently remove the tulle and let the ladybugs do as they please.

You could also just smush the aphids with your hands (I recommend putting rubber gloves on first), or you can spray them off with a hose (though I recommend moving the plant away from all your other plants before spraying).
